This is the area I was talking about, it looks pretty good in motion with the rain fall and the drops falling on the screen etc.

wow this game has not aged well...Beyond looks much better though. u should give that game a try if u miss the supernatural mumbo jumbo of indigo prophecy.

also i checked and couldnt find the screenshot option. maybe its exclusive to CFW or was part of older OFW?

Gears 2 LOOKS (outside of cutscenes) and most most MOST definitely PLAYS better than MGS4. Hell, you can also argue Gears 2 has a more coherent and less "holey" plot than MGS4 too, but I don't wanna incur the wrath of Shyber on me

Yeah, I agree with both things. GeoW 2 was superior in the IQ department, and had better textures as well (although they did suffer from some awful LOD transitions).

MGS4's storyline is a whole lot of nothing. There isn't a single plot twist worth mentioning, and most of it was very predictable. In an attempt to tie up all loose ends, Kojima ended up with a very mundane/unexciting plot.

In terms of gameplay, I thought the first 2 acts were brilliant, in the sense that you had these semi open-ended areas that you could traverse via different routes. The remainder of the game was a giant clusterfrak of hour long cutscenes, boss fights, and stripped down linear gameplay. Snake's return to Shadow Moses was amazing the first time I played the game, but the nostalgia quickly wears off and the next time you play it you come to realize how shallow that level is in terms of gameplay.

Here's how I would rank the MGS series:

1. MGS 1/3
3. MGS: PW
4. MGS 2
5. MGS4

anyway, I did start Dragons Crown, it plays a looooot like the last Vanillaware PS2 game, Odin's Sphere. But now that Lightning Returns is out, I'll most probably put Dragons Crown on hold.

I loved reading through all the discussions going on in this thread. I remember another thread by another PG member who got a PS3 and MGS4. Loved reading all of that too. Really made me want to jump onto the MGS bandwagon so that I could actually relate to all the MGS talk.

On a more serious note, I can still get into the franchise, right? I was thinking of getting the legacy collection during the coming summer vacations and playing the games in order of release dates. Because that's the order they were meant to be played in.

Man, any jailbreak PS3 owners .. you guys absolutely NEED to use PSNStuff (latest version I could find is 1.8) .. what this thing is .. is fucking BRILLIANT

what it does is it fetches http links from Sony's own servers for any and ALL content that is hosted on the PSN, full games, demos, PSN games, minis, dlc's and even themes that are officially hosted on PSN

It also downloads the 'keys' you would need to run them on jailbreak, i mean this is fucking .. AMAZING .. downloads run at full speed on your download manager of choice, and they even support resume and pause. I've downloaded the following games in a matter of hours over it:

- Resident Evil : Umbrella Chronicles
- Resident Evil : Darkside Chronicles
- Tokyo Jungle
- Wolf Among us Ep 1 and 2
- The Last of Us Premium Dynamic Theme

all at the speeds my internet allows, no torrent, no seeding or leeching or worrying about seeding ratio on IPtorrents its .. AMAZING !!
