[h=2]Mighty No. 9's hero looks a little less like Mega Man now[/h]

Comcept's Mighty No. 9 has been an obvious spiritual successor to Capcom's Mega Man franchise, but the development team under Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune is making a slight change to the game's hero that makes him look a little less like the Blue Bomber.

In a Kickstarter update, Comcept revealed a change to Mighty No. 9's Beck, who's no longer a bluish-gray. From now on, he's mostly white, a change that game director Koji Imaeda explains.

"From the very beginning we designed Beck to have a neutral, grey base, with the idea of wanting to make something completely new and unique," Imaeda said. "But development soldiered on, and as we approached the last leg, we started looking closer at Beck. As a protagonist that could absorb the abilities of his siblings and take on various forms, our image of his appropriate color shifted from 'neutrality' to 'containing all possibilities'... and since white is a combination of all colors of light, we felt that would actually suit his character better!"

Here's a comparison between old Beck and new.

Clearly, Beck still retains a lot of design elements that give the character a Mega Man vibe, but it's interesting to see Comcept make the change this far into development.

Mighty No. 9 is slated to come to a wide range of platforms — Nintendo 3DS, PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Developer Comcept is planning on an April 2015 release.

[h=2]Mighty No. 9 getting a collector's edition, will feature PlayStation cross-buy support[/h]

The collector's edition for Mighty No. 9was revealed today, along with news that the game will be a cross-buy title for PlayStation 3, PS4 and PS Vita.
Mighty No. 9, which you can see in action in the trailer above, is a crowd-funded spiritual successor to Mega Man. The Mighty No. 9: Signature Edition will be "extremely limited" and include the launch edition of the game, a numbered 6.5-inch statue of the game's hero, Beck, and a package foil signature from creator Keiji Inafune. Everyone who purchases the launch window versions of the game will also get the Retro Hero DLC, in which Beck appears as a retro-version of himself.

On the PlayStation Blog, Deep Silver senior global brand manager Pete Brolly announced that the game will be cross-buy for the digital versions as well as the PS4 retail version. The PS4 retail edition of the game will include a double-sided poster and art book.
Mighty No. 9 launches in the Americas Sept. 15 and worldwide on Sept. 18. It will be available for Linux, Mac, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS versions are expected "at a later date."

[h=2]Retail listing changes suggest Mighty No. 9 is delayed to 2016[/h]

Retail listings for the console releases of Mighty No. 9 have reverted to a placeholder date for 2016, suggesting the spiritual successor to the Mega Man series is delayed from its earlier announced Sept. 15 launch even as its creator finishes out another two new Kickstarters tied to the new franchise.
Best Buy, Amazon and GameStop, which are selling the console editions of Mighty No. 9, published by Deep Silver, now list the game either with a Dec. 31, 2016 placeholder or a "not yet announced" launch date. Deep Silver had announced Mighty No. 9 would launch on Sept. 15 back at the end of April.

The Steam marketplace listing for the game still shows Sept. 15 as the launch date for the Windows PC version. Mighty No. 9's last update to backers is dated July 17.
Game Informer yesterday reported that GameStop — which owns the magazine — said changing a launch date to a placeholder would be a move initiated by the game's publisher. Polygon reached out to a Deep Silver representative this morning to ask if Mighty No. 9 has been delayed; if so, for what platforms, and when a finished product could be anticipated. No response has been received.
Game Informer likewise was unable to get any explanation for the changed dates from Deep Silver or from Comcept. Comcept would not be eager to discuss a delay of the main product — funded at $3,845,170 on Kickstarter back in 2013 — while two days remain on two Kickstarters for Red Ash: The Indelible Legend, which is based on the Mega Man Legends game canceled by Capcom in 2011.
One project is a game for Windows PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Another is an anime. (Deep Silver is not involved with either). Earlier this week, as it became apparent the game's Kickstarter would not make its $800,000 funding target, Comcept announced it had secured a publishing arrangement for the game anyway, and that any funds collected via Kickstarter would be "a contribution to stretch goals from here on out."
The move generated wide suspicion and resentment from supporters. The Kickstarter for the anime also looks like it will fall short of its goal in the next two days. The fundraisers end Monday afternoon ET.

It's taking way too long for this game to come out. I haven't been following the project but all I've been seeing from it is how it's still yet to release and that the beta or whatever that happened a while back felt really unlike Megaman. It'd be a clusterfuck if this came out broken with all the time they spent on it.

[h=2]Mighty No. 9 officially delayed to 2016[/h]

Comcept and Keiji Inafune's spiritual successor to Mega Man, Mighty No. 9, won't make it's previously announced release date. The side-scrolling action game is now expected to arrive sometime in early 2016, the developer announced in a backers-only forum post today, confirming rumors of a delay.
The developer says it's now "aiming for" a release during the first quarter of next year.

"As we have communicated in the updates to our backers, all of the core content for the game is developed and in a complete state," a post on the game's official forums reads. "However, there are still bugs and issues pertaining to the online features that are included in the game. These bugs and issues have a direct affect on enjoyment of the game, so a decision was made to work these issues out before release.
"Currently, comcept and their partners are working at full capacity to resolve these issues
and fix any remaining bugs."
Mighty No. 9 was originally estimated for an April 2015 release, according to its Kickstarter campaign.
The news of Mighty No. 9's delay comes after weeks of speculation about a delay, based on retail listings that indicated the game was being pushed to 2016. It also comes a few days after another Comcept video game project, Red Ash, failed to meet its fundraising goal on Kickstarter.

[h=2]Mighty No. 9 now scheduled to launch February 2016[/h]

Comcept's Mega Man spiritual successor Mighty No. 9 will be released on Feb. 9, 2016 in North America, publisher Deep Silver announced today. Originally scheduled for release on Sept. 15, Mighty No. 9 was delayed to 2016 last month.
Mighty No. 9 will be available both digitally and in physical form on Feb. 9 for PlayStation 4, Wii U and Xbox One. It will be released digitally on the same day for Linux, Mac, PlayStation 3, Windows PC and Xbox 360. Downloadable versions of the game for Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita are coming "at a later date."

Outside of North America, Mighty No. 9 will be released on Feb. 12, 2016.
Conceived by veteran Mega Man producer Keiji Inafune and developed by Inti Creates, Mighty No. 9 was crowdfunded through Kickstarter in 2013. The project raised more than $4 million from backers, thanks to its promise to deliver a new Mega Man-like game for fans of Capcom's action platforming franchise

[h=2]Mighty No. 9 won't be delayed again, might get a sequel[/h]

The release of Mighty No. 9, Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune's Kickstarter project, won't be postponed again, according to the developer.
As reported by the Japanese site GameSpark, During a lecture about indie gaming given at Unreal Fest 2015 in Yokohama, Japan, Inafune talked about the string of delays his game has suffered on the way to its release. He identified the large number of platforms that Mighty No. 9 is set to launch across as a culprit behind its postponement. The game will be available on Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, with the varying quality checks for each system serving as a major cause of the pushed date.

The game is expected to keep to this schedule, according to Inafune. He also mentioned that if the game finds success after release, his studio Comcept is fully open to developing a sequel.
Mighty No. 9 will finally make it to consoles on Feb. 12, 2016. A demo for the game, which also saw a delay, is now available to backers.

Mighty No. 9 delayed again

In an update to Kickstarter backers, creator Keiji Inafune apologised for the latest delay, blaming it on "issues relating to the network modes", that have turned out to be "more critical than expected".

Here's a more detailed explanation:

  • The reason for the delay is rooted in bugs inside the network modes, and specifically problems with matchmaking. There are two large reasons for this problem, one of them being the large number of platforms supported (the solution for each platform is slightly different) and the other stems from the fact that the engine we are using is no longer being updated which means adjustments for matchmaking and online code are being made manually (actually reprogramming parts of the engine by the dev team themselves).
  • Unfortunately, this is all a result of miscalculations on the part of us, the development staff. As a result, our fans who have been looking forward to Mighty No. 9 have been forced to wait for over half a year longer than expected, and for that we are sincerely sorry. I want to take this chance to apologise personally, and on the behalf of the development staff.
Mighty No. 9, "realistically", will come out spring 2016, Inafune said. - source
won't be delayed again, lol

[h=2]Mighty No. 9 finally launches on June 21, creator says[/h][h=3]Crowdfunded in 2013, the game has finally gone to gold master[/h]

Mighty No. 9 has a new launch date: June 21.
The "spiritual successor" to Mega Man has "gone gold," creator Keiji Inafune said, putting Mighty No. 9 on course to launch for Mac, Linux, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on that date in North America and Asia. It will launch worldwide on those platforms on June 24. Deep Silver is publishing the game on consoles.

The versions for Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita will follow at a later date, Inafune said.
Inafune acknowledged it has been nearly three years since the project was initially and enthusiastically crowdfunded by thousands of Mega Man fans and apologized for the repeated delays to Mighty No. 9's launch.
"This is a project where everyone's passions were combined in order to create something very special, and we are looking forward to delivering the final product to everyone who was involved," Inafune wrote in an update on the game's official site. "There can be no stronger connection between game creators and game fans."
Mighty No. 9 was crowdfunded in September 2013 by more than 67,000 donors giving a combined $4 million. Originally slated for only a Windows PC release, Comcept, the studio Inafune founded after leaving Capcom in 2010, added versions for Mac, Linux, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS as stretch goals. The extra platforms, plus a suite of multiplayer features also promised as fundraising stretch goals, were blamed for three delays of an announced shipping date or window.
In January, Inafune announced that Mighty No. 9 was delayed from its then-announced Feb. 9 release date to some time this spring. The Feb. 9 launch date was announced in September 2015, a month after Comcept had formally pushed the game's launch date into 2016 and then promised it wouldn't be delayed again. The original Sept. 18, 2015 launch date was announced by Comcept and Deep Silver in April 2015. Mighty No. 9 was first promised for a Spring 2015 launch.

[h=2]Inafune is already talking about plans for a Mighty No. 9 sequel[/h][h=3]The first one, of course, hasn't yet launched[/h]

Mighty No. 9 hasn't launched yet — still 10 more days to go — and even though its community has been disappointed by repeated delays and jeered the game's launch trailer, creator Keiji Inafune is still speaking expansively about future projects under its name.
Speaking to 4Gamer (translation by Siliconera) Inafune said Comcept is "also moving forward in an anime and live action film for [MIghty No. 9]." Further, "development for a sequel [video game] is already in our minds, and we all share the feeling of 'we'll do it even if it doesn't sell'."

Last summer, with Mighty No. 9 delayed past its original spring 2015 window and a month from its first declared launch date, Comcept opened a Kickstarter for another video game project, also billed as a spiritual successor to the Mega Man franchise he worked on for Capcom. It fell well short of its goal, with many potential backers turned off by the idea Comcept would be raising money for a second game before the first one was delivered. Comcept still found a publisher to back the project and will make the game.
Comcept and console publisher Deep Silver waited until that Kickstarter ended to announce that Mighty No. 9 was delayed until early 2016, which was then pushed to June 21.
To 4Gamer, Inafune reiterated apologies for the repeated delays. The reason "was not because were shorthanded, but due to how we were going to sell it," Inafune said, "and then biting off more than we can chew after declaring that it will be released for all the hardware."
Mighty No. 9 was originally slated for a Windows PC release only. Stretch goals during the game's very successful Kickstarter added versions for Mac, Linux, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS, as well as a suite of multiplayer features, as funding went past $3.8 million, at the time Kickstarter's third highest-funded project ever. All of these add-ons have been blamed for three delays of an announced shipping date or window.

[h=2]Mighty No. 9 backers aren't getting their promised DLC[/h][h=3]And some aren't getting their full game codes[/h]

Mighty No. 9 backers have yet to receive codes for the game's downloadable content, according to a variety of forums. Although publisher Deep Silver promised that keys for two types of DLC would be offered to backers upon release, many are reporting that that's not the case.
A thread on the game's Steam forum includes numerous posts indicating that the Humble Bundle keys sent out this morning included two codes — for one type of DLC. Players are getting duplicate copies of the Retro Hero content, instead of one key each for the Retro Hero and Ray DLC.

The game's Twitter account acknowledged the problem earlier today. The Retro Hero DLC is a pre-order bonus that gives the lead character Beck an 8-bit revamp. The Ray DLC adds an extra boss battle against the titular bad guy, as well as the ability to play the entire game as him.
Other buyers are reporting that their PlayStation Network codes are invalid or have yet to ship. Comcept, the game's developer, is aware of that problem as well, noting it in a blog post earlier today. According to the studio, people experiencing a problem with PlayStation keys should try again at a later time; the keys take a while to go into effect, it said.
Comcept has no plans to release any further added content to Mighty No. 9, which arrived today after numerous delays, years in development and the lead designer's admission that "even if it's not perfect, it's better than nothing." The Linux, Mac and Xbox 360 versions are not yet available due to bugs.
