Yes, I can. We have three group workout classes in fitness centre. So our instructor puts a high bpm music and then instruct us all the way to end. It really motivates and we are able to push ourselves a little over our limits.

I don't like music much, but it does help me keep myself focused in the gym. I usually work out much harder with music than without music.
Please do share (or upload :p) your play-lists.
Yeah sure, right now I got hold of more music so I'm setting up my playlist. I will inform you soon.

So can anyone point out where to get ON whey protein in Karachi at the cheapest rates? Also what is the average price these days for it? I am returning after a hiatus of nearly 10 years! Also since I have been out so long can anyone tell me if fake ON Whey Protein is something I should be worried about? Is Casein protein available in Karachi too?

You can get a whole variety of proteins from GNC, but expect yourself to be substantially overcharged, even with their 'membership discounts.' I think they charge around 4.5k~ with member ship for a 2lb bucket. I've found some other places with cheaper prices but you'll have to look for them, they don't keep a whole lot of stock.
Moreover, if you're a gym member, chances are the gym trainers there know a lot of people within the supply industry, they can cut you a good deal.

I have absolutely no idea. I have never bought protein before, but I was thinking of trying it soon.. Seeing these prices, I am so sure.

If u dig a bit deeper, u can get very good prices. Like i got cell-tech 6lb in just 6200... while these big stores giving in 9000.

why would anyone waste money of whey protein? want a steroid like growth spurt? go to a chicken shop daily and get a kilo atleast(do more if you want more) of boneless breast meat... and feast on it like crazy after gyming hard... you can thank me later when you reach 18" biceps in just a couple of months... if gains stop then give yourself a rest of a week or two and then start again and cycle your exercise with different routine every couple of weeks...

No it is not.

There is just too much sense in what fayaz said..Everyone outside of Pakistan takes protein shakes and lives a healthy and complete life...In our case, we need to get properly educated to understand what certain products do. I live alone, do you think I have time to sit and cook egg after egg and go to shops every other day? Even if I did this, my stomach is not made to consume as much food as protein shake can provide me.

Sure and who will cook that for us? Show me one powerlifter or bodybuilder who has a body to show for it and without steroids and claims protein shakes should not be taken. Protein aik breast mein kitni hoti hai yeh dekhlo, kitni breast khakar mein 200 grams say ziada protein haasil karlonga aur itni breasts khanay ka aur pakanay ka time insaan kaha say layayga?

okay so you guys want to negate me simply because i appeared a bit mean or do you guys really have arguments?

okay let me clear some stuff for you guys as i know none of you are proper gym goers and only beginners... i am a beginner myself(atleast i was when i was a gym goer) but i know how to gain muscle and milk out as much as you can from your body without steroids which is a subject out of my league. I will not do a point counter point as i don't really care enough otherwise i would have explained before and what i will say will have answers for everyone.

Whey protein is used why? do you guys even know that? it is a SUPPLEMENT and not a food replacement(very ignorant to think that you will use it because you have no other protein source as you can't cook). If you want to grow then you need an abundant amount of protein and as you grow bigger your body will hit plateaus, which you can break by increasing rest/food/change in exercise etc. But that is a story for a later subject. They say atleast 1 gram per pound is a good starting point. But after a while it won't be enough and proper bodybuilders would be taking 3 times that easy and that too with steroids and they still hit plateaus. Anyways, how many servings can you take every day? if i take my proper protein intake from supplements alone then i would be finishing a 5-6k rupees whey protein supplement jar in about 3 days time easy. I will be nuts to do that really. I am not a billionaire and i will never recommend anyone to be that stupid. This is an advice thread and anyone who suggests these supplements to a newbie is seriously giving the crappiest advice ever and should not be allowed to talk. But in this day and age we believe anything we read without really knowing the details so i really must point out the ignorance. I buy boneless chicken breast pieces 1kg for about 350rs(rates change but it will be 5-6 times cheaper than whey protein with same amount of protein intake). And anyone should know that meat is not carbs and it won't make you fat(i assume you don't eat chicken with skin).

Now the cooking part. How hard it is to boil a chicken? leave it for 20 minutes and it is deep cooked... bodybuilders don't eat our "saaalun" crap. I boil chicken and it is hard to eat but i take it down with some water...easy. I use fish too often as that is a good option as well. But don't put this "cannot cook" stuff... anyone sane enough to keep fat off should know that our chicken karhai or qourma is not something very healthy(death and destruction for the digestive tract...believe me i know and am a victim of these things). I am not speaking out of my ass, i am experienced and have read countless books on bodybuilding(not internet articles). If you want to spend money on something then get "natural" white meat rather than farm chicken and fish.

Now why do we use whey protein? do you guys even know that? the absorption rate is much higher than natural protein and would benefit immediately after a workout for recovery purposes. I don't really care about that either as the quality of the whey protein is lesser than the one found it meat and i felt lesser gains with it than natural meat protein. Another reason to take it would be to add variety to your current meat diet(cheap abundant protein source with highest quality protein). But again a couple of servings per day is enough for that purpose. But again... it is a supplement and not a food replacement. Frankly if anyone is taking it because he does not get enough protein from normal house or hostel diet then he should still not take it. Because it is a waste of money and you can get MORE protein MUCH cheaper. And i don't like to fart all day after taking these whey proteins(yes i hate that side effect of these whey products... GAS). And if someone does not have time to go to market everyday for a kilo of boneless chicken then i suggest you buy 10 of them and freeze them. If you are serious about hitting the gym then you will find a way to overcome problems such as these. I am baffled that anyone would think that whey protein is a better way to go than natural protein because it is hard to COOK... damn man... just boil it... you don't need crappy masala and saaaaaaalun. If you have money to waste then sure waste it... because it truly is a waste...

Years ago I was as well versed as you are now, I have not said whey is food replacement, its a supplement and it cant provide all the required protein one needs unless as you said one decides to consume it many times a day. Point is its there to help, you can eat your boiled chicken day on day out I can't and no im not even that salan korma guy cuz that is most inefficient consider me more of a firangi type consumer of chicken. I know what you are referring to is key to gains, animal pak have youtube videos specially for such diets as ours on a budget. But somewhere along the line when you are working or studying consuming 6 meals a day is not possible in that situation if you give your body whey protein twice a day and survive on 4 meals it should not hurt. It's all about convinience, its about following a passion without binding yourself into guilt if u miss a meal.
