Tried the D3DOverrider, didnt feel a big difference, but the tearing is pretty much gone and honestly I dont really care about that much :)

Yeah my GPU is controlled by MSI Afterburner and Fan speed and temps are kept under check. The GTX 9xx series are pretty good with heat management.

Nice Shots - what are final settings are you running the game on?

I've been playing with a lot of settings and pretty much like the ones I posted earlier....

It seems the real killer is MSAA. It really takes a hit on the performance but my god the difference in graphics is staggering... see for yourself.

FSAA ON, MSAA OFF, TXAA OFF [Everything else ON,100%,VeryHigh/Ultra including Ultra Grass]

FSAA ON, MSAA 4X, TXAA ON [Everything else ON,100%,VeryHigh/Ultra including Ultra Grass]

At first it seems that the second image has less grass, but in reality, its so well anti-aliased that it blends in the involvement. It doesnt look like the grass was stuck on the world like it does with FSAA. This image may not mean much but once you play the game the difference is quiet clear and you can feel everything blending nicely in the world. Nothing feels out of place.

I also experimented with 4K. Turning DSR on in the nvidia control panel, switching game aspect ratio to 16:9 and choosing the 3840 x 2160 [4K] res.
I had to turn off MSAA regular and reflection to avoid over shooting the VRAM limit. The game ran flawless, it ran as good as it did with 1080P with MSAA off.

The 4K image was crisp (obviously) but it sadly lacked the environmental blending MSAA provided. That's just my opinion and thats how I felt. So I switched back to 1080P MSAA 4X. I do miss the details on faces the 4K brings... sigh, I need an SLI setup to get the best of both worlds lol!

Hope this info helps those playing with Graphic settings - see my profile for detailed system specs.
whats settings should i turn off which will dont have much impact on quality but heavy impact on the framerate which is a priority for me

@Mephisto : Is a locked 30fps possible at 1080p with 4x MSAA on your rig?
If I chose to lock my game at 30FPS using VSYNC, then yes. But the game runs around 60fps with 1080P, 4x MSAA and Very High Grass quality [not ultra]. Ultra grass and MSAA dont go too well and the frame rates take a hit in open areas.

And when I say take a hit, its not unplayable, the framrates fall around 30FPS, which is noticeable when u fall from from 60fps. the game still runs fine...

whats settings should i turn off which will dont have much impact on quality but heavy impact on the framerate which is a priority for me
Lower the Grass, dont use MSAA at all, even on reflections. Turn off everything in advanced graphic settings.

I'd recommend you to look online for the best settings made for your GPU. My friend will be playing this game over the weekend and he has a 760. I'll check with him and round back with the settings he find gives the best performance keeping the game still looking pretty.

I love how the game is now out on PC yet everyone is talking about technical issues or resolution and game settings instead of actually talking about the freaking game.

^ Well, maybe most of the people have already played it months ago on consoles? And they are testing the claim of optimization from rockstar's part? (which i m doing myself too quite frequently to get the best of both; graphics and performance.)

yeah im using the same settings as yours (the 2nd one with 4x MSAA but TXAA off..dunno why but my eyes just cant take TXAA..makes everything blurry in every game) as much as i wanted to play the game at 2715x1527 (i found that to be the perfect balance between frames and resolution at 2x MSAA) the UI didnt seem to be scaling to the DSR resolution so some options the menus would go out of screen..had to finally settle on 1080p

i have 8gb ram with 760gtx so the perfect balance will need some fine tuning
keep me posted when u play on this gpu

or it could be that PC gamers dont like to pay 6k for a game and then play a subpar version :p they have the option of fine tuning the game to their own liking instead of devs locking down settings just because they couldnt optimize for shit on the consoles

Yeah I just played around with TXAA and it does make things a little blurry - i took some SS but the power is out now... gotta wait an hour to compare lol. I'll try the 2715x1527 with 2x MSAA - lets see how that goes.

BTW - I see you have a 3D monitor, did you play it on 3D? I tried it on my 3DTV (had to push down the res to 720P aka console level lol since 1080P 60FPS full screen 3D is not possible with HDMI - need DVI-D for that). Anyway, the game looked nice, it has very good implementation of 3D. I'll try to find TriDef 3D settings for GTA 5, SBS 1080P is possible with HDMI and of all the games I've tried, they all look good.

It seems the sweet spot for 970 is to max out everything, but with 2xMSAA. Then enable "MFAA" setting in Nvidia control panel and get 4x AA free of cost.

Thank me later :coffee0:

4k/60fps is like 10x better visuals than other inferior platforms so we will live with little issues/tweaking.So yea PC gaming will never change it will be always better.

Just like Mortal Kombat X on Steam, right? ;)

BTW you can get GTA V for close to 3k easily. No idea why you are still sticking with "6k" price like it is the standard price for every game now. Mortal Kombat X is available for <6k and it is a brand new game. Final Fantasy Type-0 and Dark Souls 2, both were available for less than 5k at launch. So if you set 6k as a standard price for console gaming, think again :)

It is good to have options, sure. But when you are too busy in trying to run at "optimal settings" instead of actually enjoying the real thing, the game loses its charm.

I wasn't aware that you could run GTA V at 4k and 60 fps on a GTX660. Please share your secret with me, how you can run it at 4k and maintain 60 fps when it requires a freaking Titan or Titan X to do so, and that too at max settings without any compromise :tv:

now Game is not optimized that much brother , but 4K - 60FPS is way beyond from 660GTX unless you own some other higher end GPU like 980/970/290x.

Who said i am restricted to gtx660 what a joke lol...oh man its never gets old besides There are several settings that one can change for much better performance(Shadows, MSAA etc) even on a gtx 660.Heck i played Shadow of mordor on High settings on my Laptop(with shitty 8750m which is nothing compared to Gtx 660).

So its better to stop making assumptions about everyone else when you fail to prove your point :)

lol..and what was the price tag when the game launched? if we are talking about the price after a few months, im sure you will be able to find gta 5 for like 2k. Launch price on PC is less than launch price on consoles. As for MKX, well i would blame NR for that..they tried to mimic consoles and experimented with something they had no idea about..there are so many PC games which have the option of stream play but NR probably didnt look to them for ideas..lazy ass devs is hardly the platform's fault

Well this is unexpected from Rockstar.

With Nvidia's day one 350.12 driver locked and loaded, we target high settings across the board. This keeps DirectX 11 features like tessellation and high quality grass in play, while the population and scaling sliders are set to 50 per cent to minimize pop-in. All told, this falls closely in line with the PS4 and Xbox One set-ups, with FXAA engaged, and the 'softer' shadow option selected as a best match. Curiously, and much like the console editions, an off-putting filtering cascade runs across all shadows in the game regardless of setting, and despite having set 16x anisotropic filtering.
1920x1080, FXAA, High, 50% distance scalingGTX 750 Ti (Lowest/Average FPS)
Core i3 413042.0 / 59.1
But the results on even budget set-ups still outstrip those on PS4 and Xbox One. The GTX 750 Ti paired with the i3-3410 is a real success, for example - a combo that forms part of a circa-£300 PC, where 1080p60 at high settings is very doable.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-grand-theft-auto-5-pc-performance

Even budget setup like i3+750Ti is far ahead of console performance

Karachi.
Include an i5 with the 750Ti and lowest FPS wouldn't go lower than 51 or so :D (I saw a benchmark some time ago about this). Thats like 1.8x the performance of consoles at equivalent settings.
