Final Fantasy XV "Royal Edition" Announced. All DLC + First Person mode + More new Content

I have to give it to SE for their continued support for the game 2nd year running. But considering it took them 10 years to make it, it's only fair. Also the PC version is releasing in March and a Benchmark tool will release on the 1st of Feb along with the PC version of FFXII PC.

FINAL FANTASY XV ROYAL EDITION brings the acclaimed RPG to new heights, packed with add-on content and new features.

Join Prince Noctis and his closest friends as they fight against the empire in an effort to take back their fallen kingdom.

o An all-new dungeon - Insomnia City Ruins: Expanded Map o New features such as first person mode, new gear, and new bosses.
o All season pass content – Episode Gladiolus, Episode Prompto, Multiplayer Expansion: Comrades, and Episode Ignis.
o Armiger Unleashed – after you collect all 13 royal arms, a more action-oriented mode of the Armiger is unlocked
o Royal Vessel – the boat from FFXV is now a controllable vehicle. The same body of water (between Cape Caem and Altissia) can now be freely explored.
o Over a dozen pieces of DLC, including weapons, Regalia car skins, and item sets. o The critically acclaimed game – FINAL FANTASY XV

Will definitely check out the benchmark tool as a tech showcase.

I don't think I'll be picking it up any time soon on the PC. Already have the game on PS4. Maybe once it gets cheaper and seeing what all the new content specific for this version of the game is. Also, those system requirements seem a bit steep no ? i7 for recommended with 16GB RAM minimum (I meet most of the recommended requirements with only difference being i5 but from a much newer generation .. lets see if my system is able to get 1080p/60 with high/med settings.

Apart from recommended RAM, they seem fine. I guess 8GB will be fine for 60fps though. And its a 3rd gen i7 though. For reference, Witcher 3 recommends the exact CPU i7-3770, but now even a i3-6100 can give you 60fps+ in Novigrad. It really boils down to how well they have optimized the game engine. Minimum RAM is 8GB, not 16GB. I think you can expect a variable 40-60fps with settings management on your laptop.

Yeah I've tried TW3 on my system, all incidental settings on high, hair works off, AO as HBAO+, Anti Aliasing enabled, textures on Ultra and Shadows on Medium. Getting 60 FPS through out combat and novigrad with rare drops to 56~58 at 1080p.

Thats insane for a non-enthusiast laptop. Also, I should point out fly-through benchmarks (camera panning over the game world) aren't always accurate indicators of actual in-game performance. Mankind Divided is a good example of that.

Yeah, I hope this FFXV benchmark is more closer to the in-game gears 4 benchmark which basically runs through a full combat scenario with one of the game's lightning storms going on. That was a good check for what the most stressful combat scenarios in the game are like. Also, I hope they add a dynamic scaler option for this (FFXV) like more and more PC games are adding too. It's a smart feature and more games should definitely incorporate it.

So majority of the game's highlighted improvements for PC are coming from NVIDIA GameWorks. Besides just Turf effect, HairWorks, VXAO, shadows as well. And Nvidia effects are infamous for kiling frame rates. Ultimate Quality is likely gonna enable all of these and butcher performance. For 1080p, I reckon a GTX 1070 will be required for 60FPS.

Donno i m lost!!
Seems like I m locked and loaded for 1080p 60fps. Although the 16gb requirement is a bit too much. Things will clear a bit when the tool is released. Can't wait for the ultimate FFXV experience!

Results for all GPUs: ........FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION | SQUARE ENIX ............As I suspected, the highest quality enables all NVIDIA effects, and a GTX 1070 is required at 1080p, for what the developers think is "high level performance" (6000+ score). I'm assuming this means 60fps +. How hard is it to simple show the FPS metrics?

Guessing/hoping it's gonna be possible to customize settings and turn all the NVidia fluff off while retaining other things like draw distance, texture quality at higher settings. I absolutely do not want anything like hair works, it's extremely taxing on performance and the results are meh to barely noticeable at best. 1060 should be able to hit 1080/60 without the fluff settings hopefully.

ok just saw page, weird metrics. Guessing "standard" are Pro/XBX "Lite" are PS4/XB1"equivalent and the High are with all the new settings turned on. 1060 seems like it can do 60 fps (if 6000 is a metric for 60 fps) at 1080p on standard and 30 FPS at 4K on Lite settings. Good enough for me.

I've literally never seen any developer put this much effort in a "benchmark guide" only to fuck up the most basic aspect of it i.e. FPS metrics (avg, low, high, frame times etc). Also, the benchmark apparently only has 720p , 1080p and 2160p selectable resolutions (your typical HDTV res basically). These mistakes aren't a good start.

It's probably just a quickly thrown together benchmark. People are posting screens from the FFXII port's settings (which got released today) and it has the standard suite of settings you'd expect from a PC game (resolution individual manageable settings etc). Also weird that the bench apparently doesn't have 1440p, which I will be aiming for with setting management and 60 FPS.

Max-Q scores are listed. Its quite a bit slower than the desktop variant.

Oh yeah just saw. Yeah that's a sizeable gulf .. but understandable. 1080/52 FPS at Standard preset. The final game should have proper setting management which should let the game run at 1080p/60 with a mix of standard and high (while turning off all NVidia settings).
