time for androids to be affordable and boy oh boy does this present one of the best value propositions of all time or not...for the price it just pawns with its feature set!

actually it's a Huawei Ideos.

Secondly, I've tried a Huawei Android phone and it's touchscreen was the WORST I have touched...that included resistive screens as well (not anything against them but they don't respond that well to anything except nails)

thirdly, you'd do yourself a world of good to forgo this phone and get a used Samsung i7500. Which has an internal memory of 8gb +AMOLED screen. True that it doesn't have an official 2.2 build but GAOSP is almost done so you have 2.2 either way. There isn't going to be a 3.0 on this measly device so it's useless to invest in it.

fourthly, zilch community support.

nope not a good deal. You can grab a Samsung i7500 for 17-19k.

They're trying something new... I like it
With the kind of money that Microsoft can pour into their businesses... This will get better.

Just think of this... They shut down an entire product line just to focus on WP7 development.

I played with a Huawei Ideos today, the new Zong phone. I'll let you know what I think.
Other than that, I'm also putting up pictures of my S-LCD Desire and my AMOLED Nexus One.

These were taken with a Nokia E90. Forgive the fact that it makes the LCD look good. Trust me, AMOLED is much better, except for a few things which I'll mention below:

Here they are:

Black levels. Very obvious conclusion:

Red levels. LCD wins for colour accuracy and saturation. I mean how can AMOLED actually oversaturate and show orange? :S

Blue levels. AMOLED wins, colour and saturation good:

No inversion on the both screens, but viewing angles suffer:

White levels. AMOLED wins, perfect display.

Colour saturation. LCD wins, AMOLED wins for brightness:

^ Looks good AMOLED rocks. Bdw, I'll run those tests sometime on the Wave's SuperAMOLED.

And do let us know about the Ideos. Might suggest it to someone I know.

but ... nai yaar. I just can't get myself to like that texty empty interface. It isn't lively enough for me sadly...all black :s (or solid colors)

When you shine a bright light on it (preferably incandescent) you get a blue tint. LCD doesn't get that, or gets a greenish tint.

or you could just switch off all the lights and display a black screen on it, if there's a teeny bit of light, that means it's LCD

BTW I'm putting S-LCD next to anyone with those units. Confirm whether you have an S-LCD screen when necessary, such as on the Nexus One or Desire.

:S All they've done is get rid of the glass layer between the display and the touchscreen. And that improves colours and somewhat legibility somewhat but not to the extent you're saying. I compared my N1 to a Samsung GS and didn't find any significant difference, apart from the sunlight legibility and the lack of mirroring on the glass layer that the N1 has when seen from extreme viewing angles.

What else do you want from a display that's (just) one step up the evolutionary chain?

It looks so great outdoors... Retains perfect colors and ofc great viewing angles.
