I don't totally like sense due to one main reason i.e lac of customization in the sense launcher:
>App drawer scrolls in fix steps, no option to have kinetic scrolling
>No option to install icon packs in app drawer
>No option to change the rows x column config for the home screen thus I can not properly place my widgets according to my desire.
>No option to hide status bar
>No option to change dock theme unless you install a custom theme and even then you can not have a smaller dock in size
>Fix 7 home screens
>Great RAM usage, I've 400mb free on ARHD i.e a Sense based ROM with no-sense mod that removes the sense launcher+lock screen thus the UI feels a lot more smooth.
>etc.

The only thing cool as far as sense launcher is concerned is the widgets(3d widgets in sense 3.0+ weather animations on both home and lockscreen) and 3d scrolling .Now I'm referring here to the sense launcher and not the whole Sense UI that includes the amazing people(contact) application, the 3d music app, the dialer and several other sense exclusive apps. I've reverted back to ARHD from MIUI due to its great stability and features as well as battery time. Also since I'm used to Sense UI, I find it more of a ease to use it.Will revert back to MIUI when the next CM7 release it out= a newer MIUI release with bug fixes.

Testing is fun :D Have flashed 10 CM7 nightys as well as beta testing recoveries, love this 4EXT recovery(build on CWM) i.e available for Desire, Desire HD, Desire S and Incredible S. If you guys are still on CWM, try this out.

The problem with Sense UI is that its not hardware accelerated and overtime it becomes choppy.
shukar karo nahin hai warna battery ki baja k rakh deta... it wud hav become a battery hog... first time opening makes it choppy, second time its smooth... comeon.. I m trying on HTC Desire which isnt meant to take that load...

y u want to put more stuff in there? I just place all my useful icons on 7 home screens.. thats what its for...app drawer is for kachra applications..:p
>No option to change the rows x column config for the home screen thus I can not properly place my widgets according to my desire.
thats what I felt too but even in Launcher Pro I select the same grid size 5X4... tightening it further looks more of junk.. I love the grid..

>No option to hide status bar
Hav u frozen Status bar application? freeze it and it hides.. unfreeze and it reappears after Hot Reboot..

>No option to change dock theme unless you install a custom theme and even then you can not have a smaller dock in size

Comeon.. no theme can match the defualt one.. btw , I am using a moded Sense and its colors have been modified...

well with stock I was getting 200mb but here on Roms I get 160mb.. 40mb is O.k for this fun..isnt it?

I love sense for its Widgets and weather animations.. thats the main attraction...

MIUI is very laggy on Desire.. I wish I could use it but its not smooth and eats up battery the same way as other sense roms... So i prefered Sense..

wish I could try CM7 but it needs CM7 Hboot and I really dont know how to do that... I am just isntalling Sense roms... they are defualt ones..

Waiting for HTC to release official gingerbread for Desire... then maybe someone ports a more stable Sense Rom...

I don't really get it why the desire needs a different hboot for every different type of ROM, weird :/

I personally use a 7x9 configuration for the homescreen, its the best!

Didn't used to previously care about the app drawer when I had the launcher7 look, had tiles for all the good applications I had but now I have a different setup and now I need the app drawer.Personally like a 5 column config in the app drawer + 4D transition, with icon packs everything looks a lot more better and cleaner :)

Hardware acceleration DOES NOT make battery life worse it makes it BETTER. By hardware acceleration I mean using the GPU. Currently Sense only uses the CPU which is a heck of a lot less power efficient compared to the GPU. Touchwiz 4 on Galaxy S2 is GPU accelerated. It's buttery smooth and in no way is it a battery hog.

^^^ I know what hardware acceleration means... but it weird that it drains less battery with GPU... we use high power supply with our GPUs in PC to allow to it to get more power.. i dont understand how would that reduce battery life... I am sure HTC developers are very experienced and there must be a solid reason for not giving hardware acceleration... I doubt its not...

There are 4 Desire Hboots..:-S...some Roms works for all like MIUI and some are meant for special Hboot, so everytime u have to change Hboot for that... I am using Stock Hboot and it wont allow CM7 to install unless I flash CM7 Hboot.. Its really a mess... its not as easy as other phones when it comes to HTC... rooting and S-OFF all are so complicated... wasnt so much in X10...

I got a query. What's the best way to back up ALL apps, their data and configurations so that when we're flashing ROMs all the time, it doesn't affect the installations?

I also want to know the answer here ... Particularly, I want to know how we can also backup app specific data (e.g. game high scores, notes stored in SpringPad, Parcels being tracking in Parcels app, etc ..), because when I switched from Stock ROM to my current custom ROM, despite backing up and Restoring using MyBackup Pro, application specific data was lost .. :(

If there's a way to deal with this then I wanna try out CM7 and MIUI ...

EDIT: And specifically to what Shyber said, is there an auto-installer app that can see which apps you had installed previously, so that it makes a list of them and then from the new ROM is automatically installs all those apps again, and restores their data/customizations/personalizations ?

^ Nandroid back-up. Backs up everything
Umm ... So the idea is before going to the new ROM you make a Nandroid backup, then install the new ROM, and the restore everything, minus the previous ROM itself ... right ?

I mean I believe you when you say it backs up everything, but when restoring data onto the new ROM, we dont want to restore the original ROM (from which the backup was made), right ?

Hmm in that case use Titanium Back-up.
Are you sure ?

I mean I want to restore everything apart from the ROM itself, after switching to another ROM ... So things like app specific data (game high scores, game save/checkpoints, app settings and other data, app logins, etc ..), Android settings and customizations, dictionary word additions, contacts, SMS, pictures etc ..

Would Titanium backup do this ?

EDIT: What do you guys use when switching ROMs to make the migration procedure simple and straightforward ?

I have installed appmonster pro. It works for me everytime and whenever you install any new app it automatically makes a backup.

All the Galaxy S Owners. Do try the F1 SGS II Rom V6 by a 14 year old on XDA along with Galaxian Kernel. You will be in for a lightning fast phone with amazing OC capability and stability. MUST TRY!

BTW, i started Ghost of Tsushima, and it got me hooked within the first couple of minutes. I already know It's gonna be a memorable experience. This is how you make a proper Samurai game. Not that SJW game Ubisoft is making.

That's still higher than it's total play length. A 5 hour campaign for a $50 game is downright scammy.

Consoles were my main platform ever since Atari 2500. But now I think it's not worth it as PC especially with DLSS deliver far smoother performance. AW2 on console didn't even had ray tracing and ran below 30fps. Similar issues plagues DD2 on consoled.
The cross gen era really made people think 60fps would be a new standard lol

Welp, done with Hellblade 2. Thoroughly disappointed. Such a nothing burger after the unique experience of the first game.

I have a PS5 but I am not satisfied with the experience. I am currently saving for a 4080 64 GB rig soon. Bit will wait for Pro if performance improves. This gen has been so bad I don't plan on buying consoles anymore for AAA gaming.

Both PS and Xbox have been a flop this gen as they can barely maintain 30 fps in a lot of AAA games th.

As per WCCF Tech review, Xbox Series X doesn't even maintain a consistent FPS and sometimes drops into the mid-20fps range. That's unacceptable, tbh.

Score 1 for game pass. I wouldn't pay full price for this at retail either.

PC Gamer score of 58/100 for Hellblade 2??? Is it really worse than Gollum that was 64/100? Microsoft games can't even come close to high scores of Sony exclusives apparently.
