smh.

Why do people do these things when they don't even understand what's actually happening?

Stay with the stock ROM if you don't wanna get into this mind-numbing linux troubleshooting world.

Anyone here interested in developing for Android? (as in apps, not ROMS or kernels)

Everything back to normal, no thanks to your useless reply.

And you use your mouth and your hands all the time. Do you actually understand the entire human nervous system? No. But that doesn't stop you from using them now does it?

Try being more helpful. Arrogance will not do you much good here.

Man where do you get your news ... seriously. Because this is the 2nd time you mentioned this.

All i see there is still a RC version available and still no FINAL. :S

Titanium Pro .. download from Mobilism.
OR, the Free version (from Android Market) will do just fine.

Darky's ROM is not just 'any' rom , you know :p

I've used BOTH Titanium Backup and My Backup Pro. I have BOTH installed on my phone.
To be honest, MyBackup disappointed me very much. As i've mentioned in this thread earlier, that data backed up via MyBackup gets corrupt sometimes. I mean it backs up most .apk files, but corrupts the data , resulting in unexpected application crashes.
I have found Titanium Backup to be much better interms of backing up your date.
As i said i use both. I have Pro versions downloaded from mobilism and the .apk files always remain in my SD Card. I backup my Messages, Alarms, Calander, and other small settings via MyBackup Pro because they are easy to backup via MyBackup Pro.
And for all the applications i use Titanium Backup.

Oh btw ... to backup Contacts etc, save them to your SD card as .vcf files, as a contact card. Use an appilcation from Android Market, something called VIO or whatever its name is. Much better option to backup contacts.

-----------------

For further downoads, kindly use Mobilism. There is no proof for applications/games on 4shared. At Mobilism, you atleast get the feedback and pictures as confirmation.
Agreed with you on the Mybackpro thingy. It does do that sometimes but when it works it works like a charm. As for taking backups now since im addicted to MIUI i used the builtin backup application to backup every single thing on my phone even the wifi passwords and settings. Been using that for a while and it brings back your phone in the exact state it was even if you have reflashed it.

^ Darky ROMs have the feature too but its built into the recovery menu. The same back it all up thing.

I just reflashed, and enabled lagfix. After FS conversion, I'm now restoring backed up apps using Titanium (apps only).

Lets hope everything goes smoothly this time around so I can get back to customizing the look again (spent an hour yesterday on it... then saw that 10.1 had been released so flashed it and now everything gone lol).

EDIT: All good. On 10.1 now. Apps restored. Everything seems fine.

Using the hands and mouth is a voluntary movement because of evolved motor skills that occur naturally to human beings as part of an intelligent and aware mind. The moment I realize my knowledge of the nervous system is lacking in any way will not prohibit me from using my limbs. Actually messing around with expensive equipment when not being aware of what the friggin' hell you're doing is not comparable and should be avoided.
I agree though, FanDroid should've been more helpful. :p

Some feedback (coming from 9.5)

- The SMS app no longer allows you to open the message in black/white color (tap the chat bubble to open in 9.5).

- Gallery displays high-res previews but is noticeably sluggish whenever its started.

- The window animations are less impressive than before. Its a simple zoom in now, as opposed to the rather good Froyo animations.

- App drawers with any Live wallpaper are always slightly sluggish and jittery. I was expecting better performance, given Darky's claims.

===================

- The Notification bar is as smooth as it can ever be. Its movement is buttery smooth (unlike 9.5).

- Better bass response, although it is slightly distorted. I don't know what changed but there's a definite change in bass playback.

- Battery life! Although its too soon to say something definite, I'm seeing an great improvement in battery life. I'll keep checking this over the next week or so and then post final impressions, but so far, its been great.

===================

This is the best Darky ROM out right now. Do not hesitate to flash.

Okay i've also flashed the 10.1 Darkys ROM. Before saying anything, i must clarify that i flashed from XXJVO 2.3.3 Gingerbread ... which is nearly the same as Darkys Base. So to be honest, i am not feeling any difference at all.

- The Gallery you've mentioned Ask! always have been a bit sluggish, and one of reasons to battery drain. That was why Darky had it replaced in its 9.5 version. But as the ROM Configurator was not working, so this time we are once again stuck with same Samsung Gallery. To me it isn't sluggish, not it drains battery ... so i am just gonna stick to it anyway.
- You've upgraded from Froyo Ask! In Gingerbread, Samsung had the option of opening the SMS killed (for no apparent reason), instead showing complete SMS as bubble (sort of) in the app. It was difficult for me to set to its first, but now its all good and to be honest, it feels even better to me now.
- Windows animations are less ... cheesy. Makes me feel nothing special because 9.5 really had some graphic/animation tweaks to make it look even sexier and pleasurable. In this, all i am getting is a Stock Gingerbread experience.
- App Drawer works just fine for me. I only use a couple of Live Wallpapers, because i like only these. They are Matrix Reloaded, Matrix Revolution, Bubbles, Nexus Revamped and Starfield. Starfield is my personal favorite. Check it out and then tell me why is that. However, i wont mind a MW2 Heartbeat sort of live wallpaper, IF anyone takes the liberty to make one.
- Notification bar was always smooth in Gingerbread. It was sluggish and felt heavy in froyo only. Darkys 9.5 version was based on Froyo, so only the theme of Notification bar was changed, other things were same as Froyo.
- Voodoo Sound Drivers still need an upgrade for even better quality sound.
- Battery life, same disappointment as i faced with 9.5. But i REALLY DO HOPE it'll be fine after a couple of recharge.

-----------------------------------------------

Basically what i am trying to say is, I GOT NO BENEFIT AT ALL by switching over to Darkys 10.1 ... i was expecting it to be kick ass, but its a great disappointment nothing else.
- No Call Recording anymore (unlike 9.5) ... wtf <_<
- No more cheesy windows animations
- No more Circular Battery Icon for 10.1
- No Pre-installed 3rd Party Applications we used to get with 9.5 (they were pretty useful especially the one which had all the Samsung Codes scripted on it, although i dont remember its name, it was SGS TOOLS if i recall it right)

So what i got with this ROM?
NOTHING

If its the LAG FIX only which is the EXTRA point (Or BLN), then i really dont give a damn about this Custom ROM. Darky seriously need to check what is lacking DRASTICALLY in this rom.

All these Launchers and Themes thingy, i was already enjoying over my STOCK Firmware, after rooting, with a Lancher Pro simply customized, one Live Wallpaper, and No worries of LagFix and all ... it was GREAT. I repeat, the XXJVO STOCK FIRMWARE WAS MARVELOUS.

For the time being, i am gonna stick with this ROM and see if it changes my experience.

I like it. Coming form 9.5, the glow thing, the smooth notif bar, the CRT animation (that I've been enjoying on my iTouch since forever :tv:)

The Memo app has a graphical glitch in 10.1.

I installed the MIUI music player a while ago. A special themed version of it (GB). Looks simple, and great.

Don't need advice from a person who doesn't even understand his entire nervous system, as hackm0d said...your analogy is incorrect.

Here's something to ponder over: If someone gave you an attachment which worked using your nervous system, would you attach it without knowing what it does and how it does that? I wouldn't.

I am helpful to those who seek help, not whiners.

Here's something to ponder over: ********* (EDIT :tv:)

=========

So anyways, I'm getting that Android OS bug. Its showing 24% usage right now which is kinda high I think. Its second only to display which is 29%.

Now I took most of the precautions... I have an SNS account set up whose sync time is Never. What am I supposed to do now?
I guess as a last resort, I'll have to delete that system file that starts up the service which is causing all this crap (name forgotten).

Just coz I'm curious. How often do you charge your phone?

I feel like you're just trying to optimize your phone when you should be using it more.

Then again, Rom freaks do that sorta stuff: Spend more time optimizing and customizing it than actually using the device.

Go ahead, delete that 'system file'...don't complain about fucking the whole thing up again when you do :p

---------------------

I'm just suggesting to you that maybe all this ROM flashing isn't what you're looking for, maybe you're just looking for a device that you can use from the word go. Which means basically that you should just stick to one firmware/ROM instead of going over little fixes that custom ROMS give in lieu of a 100 other little bugs.

I used to flash a lotta ROMS...much more than you on my previous phone: Samsung i5700. It died...like literally it was in its dying moments when I went out to buy the Nexus One. But I used to mod it coz it wasn't fast enough. Your phone (and even my N1) is quite fast.

^ Actually the only reason I flashed 10.1 is to get to a Gingerbread ROM. I don't care about the other little things. I most prolly won't change to 10.2 or 10.3 if it gets released.

I charge the phone when I get home every night (have to).

@AsK! My Android OS is @ 3% ... no such problem at my side.

- Forgot about the CRT animation ... yea it was a sweet touch. I like it.

@Fandroid! As you've used the i5700, that shows you know quite well about Andoird phones. One of my friend also owns a Spica, and we always try to mod it with something 'better'. ATM, he is running his phone at 1066Mhz with some Samdroid Ultimate Eclair 1.1 or something like that, and no more flashing for now, because he is satisfied. At your time, thee wasn't anything like that available, so that shows your continuous flashing. Besides, it also shows your stupidity of flashing your phone SO OFTEN. I mean we, the Galaxy S owners do that after a week sometimes but YOU, lol i can bet you had borken the record of flashing you phone.

Now comes the question why WE flash our devices so often? Answer is siimple: To get something Better with which we can live satisfied. Till now, we haven't found anything like that (atleast i haven't). I've used ALL the stock ROMS available for Galaxy S and MOST custom roms as well, which means I KNOW which firmware for Galaxy S was Best Optimized available. I've already posted too much details about this a couple of pages back so i am not gonna post it again. But, atm, the 2.3.3 Gingerbread XXJVO is the STABLE, and most efficient Gingerbread update we ever got on our Galaxy S'.
No i am not fan of Custom ROMS, but i do know the fact they provide you the best possible performance you can get. And then there are claims of better battery life and all that crap with custom roms, which i always find ... rather amusing lol ... because they never work. So this time, with Darky's 10.1 I am in the same scenario, in search of something better.
This ROM is also based on XXJVO which means its no different than the stock roms i was previously using, so I HAVE to say here ... this was ANOTHER deliberate upgrade that have failed me once agian.

Then comes the question how much do we use our phone. Dont know about Ask, but me, you dont wanna know because you have no idea.
I'll just tell you anyway :p
Its not like I stick 24/7 with the phone. I use it just like a regular phone. Phone Calls, a couple of SMS (no i am not some SMS freak, only do it when its absolutely necessary and relevant), A 720p Song/Movie in Loadshedding Hours, some Gaming in free time ... easy 1.5 days for me.

Btw ... next time, don't show your authority like you are some 2nd zardari ... Be polite ..... hotshot

You wont have to CHANGE to 10.2 or 10.3 if it gets released because most probably, you will just copy the Update in your SDCard and Flash it via CWM Recovery. There you go, no settings or customizations loss whatsoever (because you were already on Darky's Custom ROM) .... (AND if Darky does not change the baseband)

One small tip for amoled display users.
Use black themes and icons, it saves a lot of battery as it doesn't turn the led pixel on.
