Epic Games Store Mega Sale Causes Developers To Raise Prices, Temporarily Delist Games

Haha I know right. People don't realize that many publishers/developers have raised prices on EGS in the past during the sales because Epic store-wide coupons were applied without permission from the publishers, essentially dictating the value their games are sold at on the store. Stay classy, Epic.
HAHAH Sweeney Tim keeps forgetting the devs on EGS are only on it for the money.

When Epic is covering the cost of the coupons, what does it matter to the devs/publishers? And how is it different from those store-wide $5 Steam sale coupons, which can mostly be acquired by simply doing a bunch of Steam activities? Does Valve seek permission from every publisher in this regard? TW3 at $14.99 on sale would cost $10 to someone with a Steam sale coupon.

And there's no lower limit on these Steam coupons either. If a game is on sale for $5, getting it via the coupon makes it free. How's that for dictating the value of someone's game?

Similarly, in the console space, both Sony and MS have also offered discount codes that can be applied to further lower prices on games during their respective store sales. They couldn't possibly have sought permission from all publishers/devs selling games on their stores. They simply bear the cost of the additional discount. This has been a standard practice for years.

Why is this being made to sound like an impossible task? Every developer that has a game on Steam can opt-in or out of the use of community coupons on their products lol

And yet, CD Projekt Red didn't, because TW3 was on sale for $15 during the Lunar year Steam sale, during which the $5 coupon was offered. The game could've been bought for $10. What happened to the value of their game being dictated to them?

Just because Epic Games set a lower limit to their discount offer, CDPR decided to exploit it by raising the price on TW3 just enough so that the discount wouldn't apply.

They actually dropped the price though, by tossing $0.01 to EGS customers

CDPR's scummy anti-consumer tactics aside, EGS is fantastic for free games (y)

According to the transaction history I have like 70~ free games and I didn't even start from the first week they started offering free games. I was late to it.

Good on CD Projekt for showing Epic who's the boss (y)

Epic really needs to get their shit together and get the fundamentals right, like communicating with publishers or provide a back end panel for publishers to have more control over their product like on Steam. Every sale they fuck up some way or the other.

[h=1]The Epic Games Store made it easier to get a refund[/h]

Players can now start the self-refund process online

A nice change has come to the Epic Games Store: the ability to start the process to automatically refund a purchase. Prior to this, players would have to request a refund by contacting Epic Support and starting a ticket. Now, the process can be completed with a quick input. A post on Epic’s official site explains the new policy in detail.
Here’s how it works. A user can go to the Epic Games site, select ‘Account’, and then select their ‘Transactions’ tab. From there, they can select a game and request a refund. Every game is eligible for a refund as long as it is initiated in the 14 days after the purchase, your total play time hasn’t exceeded two hours, and you weren’t banned from the game. In addition, the process can be denied “if Epic determines that you are abusing the refund policy.”
This is in line with Steam’s policy on self-refunds, and adds an important feature to the Epic launcher that had been missing for some time. The client still lags behind in terms of certain functionalities, but self-refunding lowers the risk of a bad purchase and allows players to opt out of games that prove to be inaccessible in some way.
In addition, the Epic Games launcher update includes Keyless integration, which allows players to link their account to third-party digital sales platforms Fanatical, Green Man Gaming, and Genba Digital. There’s also bandwidth management and more local currencies in place for players from countries like Canada and Australia.
According to the post, the next two big projects in process for the Epic Games store is a mod marketplace, which will allow players to install and manage player and developer made mods for their games. There will also be an achievement system, for those who enjoy making that number go up.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
