The previous Punjab Govt did wonderful job of distributing laptops, green tractors, danish schools, solar lamps, hospitals etc etc. Very nice. Very nice. Who paid for it? We all did by our taxes. If that laptop money would have been used to create IT facilities at colleges and universities i.e computer labs, IT infrastructure, it would have benefited not one but multiple generations. Improved the institutional standings of these educational centers and hence strengthen the institutions. If they had introduced agricultural reforms instead of just handing out tractors, it would have done a lot more good in the longer run. My point being that the old parties blame Military for weakening institutions while they themselves have no idea of what they themselves are doing to the system. Take Danish schools for example. Run by the provincial exchequer, these schools admit children of our under-privileged class and introduce them to not only to quality education but also a lifestyle not seen by their families. Then we fault these kids for not wanting to even go back home during holidays because their homes are really in tatters. And how are they going to survive after high school. Will we create similar universities? And how are we going to run them? Where will all the money come from? Why didn't these people improve the systems of govt high schools instead of investing billions in to creating new unproven and potentially hazardous infrastructure? If you visualize this scenario, it might be clear to us that given their chance, they have undermined the system themselves also. I also heard they spent quite some money on Lahore? What about Rajanpur, Toba Tek Singh, Qasoor, Patoki etc. Do they belong to another country?
