So finally managed to play the beta last night, played the first FPS mission with peter dinklages drone around me guiding me :D hehe was epic.. the game really is fun, as soon as i completed the mission or tutorial as i would say... sehri time so had to shut it down.. hehe

will be playing more but by the looks this seems to be one good ADDICITIVE game...coming from a guy who doesn't really like playing rpg's etc

chose the "TITAN" class coz i ain't choosing anyone else than the heavy artillery guy :D although it could be hard at times seeing others got cloacking and those disintegrating bombs and sh*t...

wanted to ask if we level up in the beta would that carry over to the retail game ? also im playing it on the ps3 beta atm but i have no intention of playing the retail game on the ps3, its PS4 or bust coz lets face it, i want the best possible experience with the game and that's not happening on the ps3 hehe...so ps3 beta stats carry over to ps4 or no ?

As far as I've read, the stats wont be carrying over from the Beta. And I just started playing today.....looks pretty awesome!....reminds me a bit of Mass Effect mixed with Killzone.

that ground pound ability (i think its the Titan) is so freakin' OP!! was playing a match this morning, 4 team mates capturing a point..one single enemy appeared out of nowhere and ground pounds, killing all 4 of us..they gotta nerf that or EVERYONE will be using the same class in the final game. So far i feel Hunters have the weakest ability, the incendiary's DOT doesnt do a whole lot of damage compared to that warp kinda ability of Warlock

Certain items will carry over from beta to final game. They can be certain weapons, skins, armor or anything else. We're not told specifically.

Stats DURING beta are persistent across the same universe of consoles. Xbox owners can play with same characters between Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Same applies to Playstation. The final game will support this mechanic too. When the beta is over, our stats will be deleted (minus the few items promised to carry over).

@r3aper - Beta is currently active for PS3 and PS4. It will go offline on Monday and then return Wednesday night 10PM (pk time) for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4. It will finally conclude on Sunday.

Concerns about bullet-sponge enemies in pvp is absolutely wrong. In order to see how accurate and predictable the weapons in Destiny are, resort to watching a few minutes of Ninja's stream.

See how a former Halo pro player plays it. Excellently utilizing his movement, jumps, slides, grenades, weapons and melee. I just watched him kill 3 guys with his semi-auto rifle. He landed 3 headshots on each person, without missing any, and got 3 consecutive kills. That's not randomness.

Aside from that, the sniper kills in 1 headshot (2 body). Fusion rifle kills in 1 close-range. Shotgun kill is 1 close range. Handcannon kills in 4 (maybe less with headshots). The issue is with auto rifles which have varying degrees of ROF. But then again, every autorifle is as predictable as COD. I've watched way too many on Ninja's stream to notice the killtimes on them. Land most of your shots on the head and you're sure to win the duel within 1 second. Land all on the body and your TTK will go close to 2 seconds.

The 3 supers all have their risk and rewards. Titan's hulk smash can only be done in close range. The Nova bomb is an extremely slow projectile and has a massive 'drop' after 15 feet, rendering it a risky move at long range. The Golden gun has massive vulnerability issues during activation. You must activate it carefully before entering a firefight or you'll waste it.

The game is definitely not as predictable as Halo. And lol @ bringing COD and BF into the discussion of even playing fields. In Destiny's MP, your level makes no difference as to the damage you deal and receive. A level 1 person can still land 3 headshots on a level 8 guy and get the kill. The person who utilizes his jumps, weapons, grenades, supers, vehicles, map awareness well will still win. There is definite randomness here, but not as much as to negate the efforts of an above-average player. As evident from Ninja's gameplay linked above, better dudes always win.
I think we were discussing that same thing before HALO4 and you said that inclusion of these things from COD is no t going to do a lot of damage to the franchise. HALO 4 fallen so quickly from the face of multiplayer scene it was embarasing. Unless they dont fix the OP abilities, vehicles and bring a sense of Balance, I am seeing the PvP going down pretty soon.

CoD and BF has these perks and grenade kills, but shooting itself is not a random affair. I am always assure of my kill. I know how many Jevlins it takes to kill off a vehicle. Ofcourse pros will decimate noobs in Destiny as with every multiplayer game. But a noob needs to feel he was outplayed by a pro, and not because some random special weapon drop or ability killed him.

Supers and Specials are earned through better play or they are random as to where they will spawn?

It would have been appropriate if PvP was level based instead of Loot based. You see most of MMOs that have this loot based PvP, has these rooms where everyone is provided with same loot before the match, to even the odds. In contrast Blizzard were unabale to balance Diablo 3 for PvP, so they simply call there PvP as brawl. They dont qualify it as a fair game.

Something like this should be implemented into Destiny since it is loot based PvP, and those who will grind for more will have better gear and money to equip themselves. And COD noob can pick up and start killing everyone as he is provided with the best weapons.

This is the first time I think you are playing a loot based PvP, you will soon see these complains and there will be specialized separate playlists features implemented.

I might not have played any loot-based games but looks like better understanding is in order on your part. You seem completely confused as to the abilities and supers at your disposal in Destiny.

Your super is your most powerful stroke of magic. Denoted by the yellow-ish bar on the bottom left, it delivers a devastating blow upon activation. Each super is different for each subclass. Your guardian type (Warlock, Hunter and Titan) have multiple subclasses of their own. Most of which are not known. In the beta we have only 1 subclass per guardian type. The yellow super meter is constantly progressing at a snail's pace (ie: invisible timer). To make it fill up quicker in PVP, players must engage in all acts that reward you with points (kills, assists, objectives, multikills e.t.c).

The fastest way to fill up your super is to grab "Orbs of Light". The Orbs of Light are just that, shiny orbs laid on the ground. How do you find them? By sticking to your team. Whenever a teammate activates their super ability and earn kills with it, the residual effect is the generation of these orbs within the vicinity of said teammate. Pick them up to boost a significant chunk of your meter.

Maybe you're using the word "specials" interchangeably or confusing it with something else. "Special weapon" is a weapon slot. Each guardian has 3 weapon slots instead of the traditional 2 from Halo.

1. Primary weapon - Rifles, handcannons, fusion rifles (basically the go-to weapon for mid-range combat)
2. Special weapon - Shotguns, Sniper (built for niche purposes hence the word 'special')
3. Heavy weapon - Rocket launchers, miniguns (no explanation needed)

In pvp, you start off with abundant Primary weapon ammo, very less Special weapon ammo, and no Heavy weapon ammo. There are no weapons placed on the map. Each weapon you take into the map is entirely your choice. Weapons can be swapped for others from within your inventory mid-game too. On the map there are weapon ammo crates carefully placed in particular areas. There are 2 ammo crate types. Special ammo crates (green) and heavy ammo crates (purple). They are all on timers. Each player can see the icons for these crates across the map. But when heavy ammo is about to drop, the announcer calls it out. And when the heavy ammo crate drops, the announcer alerts everyone. And if you're intelligent, you'll want to run towards your nearest heavy ammo crate. Grab the heavy ammo to enable the use of your heavy weapon.

So you see, instead of placing weapons on the map, they've let you choose your own heavy weapon. But controlled its use through rare ammo crate placements. It's a clever way to rotate map control I believe.

Upon leveling, I see my posts have gone invisible. In the gametype we're currently playing, our level, defense and damage ratings do not matter. They're all standardized. Each weapon has its own kill time which is dead-set without any randomness. Ofcourse we're still playing to learn the kill times and, while killtimes of most are known, some are still left to be precisely counted. Let the game play out for a decent amount of time before opening the pandoras box of which you know so little of.
