Finally, after a long wait with a lot of anticipation, DICE has announced that the Battlefield 3 beta starts on September 29, and will be available on all platforms. The beta will run on the Operation Metro map, and support the Rush mode only — just like the Alpha. Furthermore, DICE revealed the system requirements for the beta:
Minimum system requirements

• OS: windows vista (service pack 2) 32-bit
• Processor: 2 GHz dual core (Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or Althon x2 2.7 GHz)
• Memory: 2 GB
• Hard drive: 20 GB
• Graphics card (AMD): DirectX 10.1 compatible with 512 MB ram (ATI Radeon 3000, 4000, 5000 or 6000 series, with ATI Radeon 3870 or higher performance)
• Graphics card (Nvidia): DirectX 10.0 compatible with 512 MB ram (Nvidia GeForce 8, 9, 200, 300, 400 or 500 series with Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or higher performance)
• Sound card: DirectX compatible
• Keyboard and mouse

Recommended system requirements

• OS: Windows 7 64-bit
• Processor: Quad-core CPU
• Memory: 4 GB
• Hard drive: 20 GB
• Graphics card: DirectX 11 compatible with 1024 MB ram (Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 or ATI Radeon 6950)

As previously known, Origin will be required to play the beta on PC. The open beta will run for approximately 10 days, ending on October 10.

mee222....i mean the directors were just provoking us u knw one of them said...."you will be fine with dual gtx 580s for battlefield3 " and look at this...however this is just the beta.....its possible tht still make some chnges in the final version u knw settngs vise...like dx11 feature and the ultra settngs in crysis 2 dx11

You guys think the recommended specs can play the game at max settings? You're Mistaken!

It'll require alot more horsepower to turn up extra AA/AF at 1080P with HBAO On and Terrain Tessellation which are key features of DX11.

i highly doubt they will optimize the game more at this point...the beta ur talking abt is MP BEA which is usually used by devs to find/fix glitches and problems in multiplayer environment of the game like matchmaking,server load,weapon balancing etc etc

No. A GTX 580 would be insane. A GTX 560 is more or less equal to a GTX 470. Requirements are lower than I expected.

thts becoz its only a beta for 10 days and i guess without destruction 2.0 and other tesellation and stuff.....nt the final version...thoough i myself is sittng with fingers crossed tht a gtx 580 max out the final version

The BETA will be featuring Terrain Tessellation and the new Destruction 2.0 Engine. This was confirmed weeks ago by DICE on Twitter:

“our terrain tessellation wasnt in in AlphaTrial, but will be in for Beta/Final. mostly visible on large terrain levels”

its not just a rebranded 460 man....its a different card.its got more CUDA cores,better DX11 optimization and higher clock tolerance than 460 so its a new card from ground up and i knw its outperforms the stock variants of 6950 and is comparable to stock 570

i don't fear what graphical challenges this game can throw at me...its just that he processing side that i m sure will cost me dearly.il probably have to dial down the physics related setting to get 30+fps on this game.you on the other hand don't have to dial down anything.well not upto 1080p atleast

GTX560 (Non-Ti) - 336 Cuda Cores
GTX460 - 336 Cuda Cores

Yours is GTX560Ti with 384 Cuda Cores. That's why i highlighted it in my previous post. The normal 560 is no where comparable to 570 or 6950 at all. Also being a Nvidia Sided game, BF3 may use PhysX so turning on Physics wont affect your CPU at all since all load would be transferred to the PPU on your graphics card.

um.....BF3 will not use physx bro. Frostbite 2.0 has its own.....and BF series are more AMD sided than nvidia

A more refined version to be accurate. Not built from the ground up.

Resolution is the biggest factor to consider and with each game I fail to understand why the developers don't mention it in their requirements.

I read that the alpha version had several settings locked at Low. I'm aiming for ~50-60FPS in MP so I hope I can atleast achieve that level of visual quality.
