Why the hell all these bank accounts are charing so much money for a simple account? Standard Charted these days is acting like a total f*cktard. Absolutely no lift to people with low income. If a student goes to open up a bank account, they behave either like 'we don't exist', or treat us like we are beggers. They have also closed A LOT of their branches, so that shows they have other plans (like only keeping 'high profile' customers). Also take into account that recent hacking attempt of ATMs.

The needs are getting stronger these days, so i was thinking of getting my own bank account. Have absolutely no info, and am short on time so can't sit and search.

If you are worried about the bank charges, you should look into student bank accounts. I know that HBL provides this facility, I don't know about others. The charges are lower or nill, and you get all the same benefits (I think).

You will have to do some research on which bank to chose. Not all banks are same. For instance. Allied bank: Expensive and unprofessional. They charge 170+ Rupees if you transact money to some other bank. They also charge if you transact to an Allied account (I think it's 30 rupees). If you call on their helpline, it takes like 10 minutes for them to pick the phone. Every. Single. Time. Compare this with lite: MCBLite to MCB is absolutely free. MCBLite to other banks is just 20 rupees. Their customer service is pretty fast, and A LOT better than Allied.

Do some research and find out right now what these banks charge for the kind of transactions that you would be doing.

With Askari bank you can get a top up of minimum 30 Rupees.

Charges wise BAL is good too. 50rs for IBFT, 0rs for credit card payments (at least for Alfalah CC which I have; don't know about others). 130rs for issuing new cheque book and 500rs for annual debit card charges. All this with free internet and phone banking, there are some charges however if you apply for SMS alerts which is almost useless if you've access to the internet. Not to mention their security is fantastic. Each time you create a new beneficiary you get a code, half of which is sent to your registered email address and the other half to your mobile number. It's pain, but totally worth it. I'm a former SBL customer too, and they charge for internet banking as well which is stupid.

hbl charges 560 rs on 500 rs deposit to account in hbl if i deposit cash. most rude staff.

depends on the type of account; for savings accounts it is 100+GST per transaction. I believe it is free for BBA, and probably other specific types of accounts

At last I have got MCB lite working fine on google play store (after a long pathetic activation drama) but now another new issue comes out <_< e.g: I transfer some money to MCB Lite mobile wallet using IBFT from Bank-Al-Habib..transaction went fine but I never received any amount into my MCB mobile wallet <_< I called MCB support and as usual I wasn't get a proper reply..so I called BAH support and filed a complaint and they have given me 5 working days time for the investigation.

so anybody else have got this issue with MCB Lite IBFT? at the IBFT page I was able to see my name against the mobile number (which is also the MCB lite acccount number)

which Lite level are you at? I have normally seen this issue when you are close to your monthly limit AND try to transfer money online instead of through an ATM

P.S there seems to be something wrong with the Quote system..might want to look into that

Quotes are working fine..people usually miss the end tag which creates a mess..

anyway there's no limit issue since it's a new card and I am on lite 1 which supports 5K+ daily top-up

Hey I got a Alfalah credit card from bank, didn't even apply for it. Can you tell me what charges occur on a monthly basis on a Gold Credit Card?

I want to avoid insurance, credit cover, markup, interest; you get the jist? So can you tell me if there are any such charges?

so who is using MCB Lite IBFT for transferring money into MCB lite wallet from other banks? Bank Al-Habib failed (even though transaction went fine but I haven't received any money into my MCB lite mobile wallet)

Hello everyone, I have applied for the MCB lite 6 weeks ago & haven't got the card delivered yet. They called me and said that my address wasn't right so the card was returned also told me to change my secondary address into nearest MCB branch by calling helpline. I called them & changed my address but this was 5 weeks ago... I'm calling the helpline every week & they tell me to wait 3 - 5 working days then nothing happens so I'm forced to call them again & again.

Any good suggestions/recommendations for me?
