Hey, I re-installed AC3 for the lulz but I can't play. It just tries to update and launch the Uplay launcher. This never happened before. My cousin reported the same thing with Far Cry 3. Any new crack or something?
Its been more than 6 months that i have finished Assassins Creed 3. Since then i have been planning on writing something down, but just couldn't.
-- A little disclosure --
Assassin Creed games are special to me. Whenever i start any Assassin Creed game, i find myself in a whole new world. I forget everything, and lose myself in the Assassins Creed world :hah:
-- PLOT --
AC3 is a little different than previous games. I believe thats because of the protagonist, which is not as emotionally effective as Altair or Ezio. While his story was just as good as the rest of them, there was SO much to cover that it was practically impossible to put all that info in a single game.
- The relationship between Haytham Kenway was most amusing and really makes an emotional binding with Conner and his father. As i never watched any trailer about it, i was thinking that our main protagonist is Haytham. But i was in for a real shock, which really did surprise me Needless to say both characters came out equally dignified and appealing.
- Thankfully, there was more emphasis on Desmond this time. We see a lot of stuff happing in "real" world of Assassins Creed (Desmond's world that is).
I kinda cursed a little over the ending of AC3, and deception of Juno left me ... agonized. I can only imagine how the next assassins creed games are going to be (do note that i am yet to play "AC: Liberation" and "AC4: Black Flag", which i will soon start).
Death of Desmond was nothing less than a shock but i am certain he isn't dead, and will find a way to come back :hah: Though i am seriously curious at this point whats gonna happen next. Lets see what Damned Juno was on about.
Btw, first they killed the lovely "Lucy", and now they have killed an important antagonist "Vidic". What the heck are these guys doing? :S On the bright side, this has sparked my curiousness up very high.
-- GAMEPLAY --
- The tiny bits of improvements in gameplay (especially the running around and combat) really did improve the experience a lot.
- Naval Missions were just mouth watering lovely. The ship mechanics were nicely done (still had some room for improvement though), but what matter is that they made the game SO MUCH FUN and such huge ships were easy to maneuver.
- Hunting concept has been stretched to all the games of Ubisoft, even in Far Cry 3. Lame, but hey ... it works and is fun.
-- VISUALS --
Is it just me, or the PC version looks heck of a lot better than previous games? The sheer amount of detail and the stunning DX11 visuals was obvious to note.
-- SOUNDTRACK --
Accept it or not. I believe that Assassins Creed games feature the most heart touching soundtracks you would ever hear in a game. AC: Brotherhood, AC2 and AC: Revelation's soundtracks were like THE BEST of the series, and are actually my favorite. (Hail the mightly Jesper Kyd. This guy is out of the world :v. The soundtrack revolving around Ezio literally makes you cry, and especially the ones when you are in Rome.
Following tracks are like an Insignia of Assassins Creed Series. I mean, whenever i hear them, the whole franchise revolves around in my mind. (All this talk about soundtracks, is only because i value Soundtracks in Assassins Creed games HIGHLY).
But its with a sincere regret that AC3 Soundtracks just did not have that thrill. Call me spoiled, but i think in soundtracks department, this was somewhat a disappointment for me.
The Menu (AC3 Theme) was reflecting the American Revolution era of the game, but that wasn't enough to create that emotional bind with the character which existed in previous games. Don't get me wrong ... the soundtracks are brilliant on their own. But in contrast with the previous games, they really don't hold a candle.
Assassins Creed 3 :: Assassins Creed 3 Main Menu Theme
Overall, i was fully satisfied with the game and loved it just as much as any other Assassins Creed Game. I think that was because i love this franchise, so i would've loved the game anyway, no matter how underdeveloped or cheesy or stretched it might be. Personally, I kinda hate it that devs are milking Assassins Creed franchise, but i think i WANT them to milk it more. Its like, i don't want them to stop making Assassins Creed games. But at the same time, i find myself wishing that they don't start milking so much that they forget how important the plot of any AC game is. And they somehow did that with AC3, by making it an underdog. It was obvious that the story was forcefully being stretched out.
If i were to rate this game, i would easily rate it 9/10. It was a MASSIVE entertainment, and the jaw dropping amount of information it contained, its obvious that it wasn't easy for developers to compile all that in ONE single game. (Do note that Ezio's character was stretched till 3 games, and that was the main reason for him being a "mega hit" he was. Plus, his story was much more appealing than ANY other character in Assassins Creed)
As always, i did complete it till 100%. Thats kind of an obligation to myself :hah:
Phil keeps talking about breaking barriers to gaming, making it accessible on all platforms yada yada, while killing competition and creativity at the same time. the fact that i actually believed him for a second lol
Phil should be held responsible for this shitfest too, just like Sarah, but it's highly likely that these decisions are coming from Satya. And this isn't even the end of it. More closures are coming.
if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.

"These changes are not a reflection of the creativity and skill of the talented individuals at these teams or the risks they took to try new things" ... seems to me that's exactly what it is
So i just found out that f***ing s***bag Microsoft shut down Arkane Studio (makers of the brilliant Dishonored series) and Tango Gameworks (makers of the iconic The Evil Within series), among some other studios. I just want to say a giant F*** Y**! to Microsoft. THEY'VE F***ED UP BIG TIME this time.
Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
