[h=1]‘Arrow’ Casting Hints At Larger Role For Brandon Routh?[/h]

It became obvious to any Arrow fan that some changes to the formula were under way following the shocking mid-season 3 finale, but the first tease of what’s on its way is more puzzling than expected. It was assumed that the rest of the show’s cast would take a larger part in the spotlight given Oliver’s upcoming absence, but it seems the showrunners are taking the opportunity to introduce more DC Comics characters.
A new report from CBR claims that Marc Singer (Beastmaster, V) will be joining the series as ‘General Matthew Shrieve’ beginning with Episode 14, with a recurring role thereafter. Besides the chance to see yet another sci-fi/fantasy face join The CW’s shared universe, the character will be familiar to fans of the comics – a fact that Warner Bros. TV apparently calls out in their official character description:
In the DC Comics, Matthew Shrieve is the leader of a group known as the Creature Commandos. In ‘Arrow’ he will play a significant role in the latter portion of the season’s flashback storyline.
This season’s “flashback storyline” has centered primarily on Oliver’s exploits as an ARGUS recruit/captive in Hong Kong, slowly but surely acquiring more of his lethal skills and training. Having another military official enter that plot isn’t out of the ordinary, but without Oliver handling starring duties, it seems an odd choice to keep the flashbacks centered on his character. When combining this casting with other details on the season’s second half, some potential plans start to form.

For starters, it’s still a stretch for fans to expect to see the aforementioned Creature Commandos in their most iconic (but admittedly outdated) incarnations. Created by J.M. DeMatteis and Pat Broderick in the “Weird War Tales” comic series, the squad – officially known as Project M – began as a World War II era superteam of classic movie monster super-soldiers, led by Lieutenant Matthew Shrieve. The battlefield effectiveness of a Werwolf, Vampire, Gorgon and Frankenstein’s Monster-esque resurrected man is debatable, but fit the series’ title perfectly.

Even if the overwhelming success of the Arrow/Flash crossover may have the writers reconsidering their plan of keeping superpowers out of Starling City, the chances of seeing those Commandos in live action are slim. That being said, you don’t pick a military man like Shrieve out of thin air – and the newer take on the Commandos may be a better place to look for those hungry for speculation on what the next stage of Arrow may introduce.

A new version of the Commandos was introduced in the pages of “Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E.” as part of DC’s New 52 relaunch. The comic follows Frankenstein (the name adopted by Frankenstein’s actual monster) as he is appointed the leader of S.H.A.D.E.’s (Super-Human Advanced Defense Executive) special ops team, consisting of less… fantastical versions of the predecessors.

Soldiers Warren Griffith and Vincent Velcoro volunteered to have their physiology adapted to that of a werewolf and vampire, respectively. Add in a ‘Swamp Thing’-esque scientist and a reanimated corpse, and an experimental strike team becomes a bit more plausible (in a universe where metahuman threats are a weekly occurrence).

But the most telling aspect of the New 52 series is the brilliant DC character who made a surprising appearance in its pages: Ray Palmer, formerly The Atom, and currently being played by Brandon Routh on Arrow.

As the mind behind much of S.H.A.D.E.’s clandestine technology and scientific discoveries, Palmer’s role in the formation and advancement of the organization (its chief science advisor) may be yet another hint that Arrow‘s upcoming episodes will place a larger emphasis on the character (not to mention his plans for the A.T.O.M. exosuit).

If that’s truly the case, is it possible that it may be Palmer – not Oliver – who stars in the show’s upcoming flashback sequences? Some backstory would certainly help clarify the head of Palmer Technologies’ motivations. At this point, viewers can be sure of two things: that Palmer’s role in the events of Starling are about to get a lot more obvious, and that there’s more to him than meets the eye.

Whether that means a flashback that focuses on the formation of S.H.A.D.E. and Palmer’s role in its technology (that would certainly explain his meteoric rise to the top of the field) or simply an added layer of intrigue to the ARGUS/Omega plot is anyone’s guess. At this point, Palmer could emerge as a hero, a villain, or even seek out Deathstroke’s mirakuru-laced blood on behalf of S.H.A.D.E., and we wouldn’t be surprised.

The previous season of Arrow managed to donate plenty of time to a small-screen version of the Suicide Squad, and fans didn’t complain in the slightest. So even if Oliver Queen may be taking some time off, that leaves room for Black Canary’s introduction, or Palmer’s adoption of the A.T.O.M. identity.

But that’s all set in the present tense. It’s still possible to see the flashback sequences keep Oliver’s presence felt in each episode, but at this point, a refreshing change to that subplot is more than warranted. Singer’s version of ‘Matthew Shrieve’ may be a confirmation that a change of direction is in store – or that a larger role for Routh on The CW is possible – but at this point, anyone’s guess is as good as ours.

What do you think of our theory? Would you like to see Routh take a larger role in this season of Arrow, or do you hope to see Oliver reclaim his role as the central character sooner rather than later? Share your thoughts (and theories) in the comments.

Arrow will return on Wednesday, January 21, with “Left Behind” @8pm on The CW.

[h=1]‘Arrow/Flash’ Crossovers to Be Annual Event; ‘Atom’ Spinoff Possible[/h]

Both of The CW’s DC Comics properties have been a success for the network. Arrow established the world of Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and introduced Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), who would spin off into his own series. The Flash gave The CW its highest season premiere ratings since 2008 and expanded the network’s shared DC television universe. After a few small crossovers between The Flash and Arrow, a big two-hour two-night event proved the superhero shows were strongest together – at least in terms of ratings.

Since the crossover event was well-received, many have wondered when the two shows would combine forces again. During the TCAs, the president of The CW addressed those questions as well as the future of Brandon Routh’s Ray Palmer and why the network passed on Supergirl.

CBM is reporting that CW President Mark Pedowitz said that the network has planned for Arrow/Flash crossovers to be a yearly occurrence, leaning toward the fall/winter season. Pedowitz compared the scheduling of these television events to the Doctor Who Christmas Specials on BBC. Since The CW also announced the renewal of both Arrow and The Flash (and many more shows) earlier today, it seems fans are sure to see Amell and Gustin sharing the same screentime again in late 2015.

Though fans may be disappointed that they won’t be able to see The Flash and Arrow suit up together again anytime soon, it may be for the best; both shows still need to stand on their own outside of crossovers. Additionally, since the crossovers will be kept to a minimum, the event-like nature of these episodes will continue to generate plenty of excitement for two superheroes and their teams joining forces.

As The CW continues to grow and establish its DC universe in Arrow and The Flash, Pedowitz also revealed that they may be adding another series to the mix. According to the CW president, they’re in “preliminary discussions” for another show, but it depends on the audience.

Read Pedowitz’s full quote:

“We are having some preliminary discussions about expanding [that] universe, but we have not vetted them out. Could there be another hour in that universe? Possibly. As long as there’s no audience fatigue.”

Greg Berlanti, executive producer of Arrow and The Flash, added that those preliminary discussions include a spinoff for Arrow’s Ray Palmer and his Atom suit. According to Berlanti, they’re in “very early talks” about the “very general idea” of a series based on The Atom.

As to why Berlanti’s Supergirl series didn’t end up on The CW – it instead landed a season commitment on CBS – Pedowitz said “We were aware of it, [but] you don’t want to become just one thing.” However, according to previous reports, the possibility of the series crossing over to The CW is on the table.

Although it may seem contradictory for The CW to pass on Supergirl then begin talks for another DC universe television series, it likely comes down to timing. If CW had picked up Supergirl, it would have debuted a year after the network launched The Flash. That doesn’t provide the network with enough time to determine “audience fatigue” as Pedowitz put it.

However, if The CW does decide to spin off Routh’s Ray Palmer, the character will already have an established origin and audience familiarity. Additionally, since Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim has previously said the Atom’s powers don’t necessarily fit into the tone of the show – and it was speculated he may move to The Flash, which does deal with superpowered humans – it may make the most sense for him to headline his own series.

That all being said, an Atom television show at The CW is still a long way off and likely depends on Palmer’s character trajectory throughout the rest of Arrow’s third season. Since the Atom suit only made its debut in the Arrow midseason finale, the character’s development still has a way to go.

[h=1]‘Arrow’s Deathstroke Will Be ‘Out For Blood’ When He Returns[/h]

Last season, The CW’s Arrow stepped up its game in massive ways, largely thanks to the inclusion of one major foe Oliver had to dig deep to defeat. Of course we’re referring to Slade Wilson’s Deathstroke (Manu Bennett). However, as is the way with television, when things came down to the big moment of putting an end to Slade once and for all, the writers had another future in mind.
Oliver realized committing murder would make The Arrow no better than the villains he fights – choosing a more humane fate for Slade: incarceration in a completely inescapable prison (although we wouldn’t bet on its holding power). We’ve known for some time that Deathstroke’s days weren’t over just yet, specifically when Bennett himself teased a return was in the cards. Now, more details have been offered.

It was more recently confirmed that fans wouldn’t have to wait long to see Deathstroke resurface, promised to appear in the second half of Season 3. It wasn’t clear whether it would be in the flashback sequences or present day, but now TVLine offers a clearer explanation, courtesy of executive producer Andrew Kreisberg:
“Slade is definitely [resurfacing] in the present day… Not that he’s ever happy, but he’s particularly unhappy. When he comes back, he’s out for blood.”
This statement doesn’t come as a shock considering the unwritten promise of the previous season’s finale – that Slade would one day return to Starling (perhaps causing Oliver to once again question his embargo on murder?). Regardless of that return, though, there’s really no other Slade we’d want to see beyond one that’s out for blood anyway.

[This article contains minor spoilers for Arrow Season 2]
The return of a fan-favorite character so soon after they were ostensibly dispatched speaks to the kind of freedom Arrow‘s success has brought. The showrunners have spoken about just how much freedom they’re given from DC and WB., so the only real danger for The CW with is now balancing both Arrow and The Flash on the small screen – and Vixen taking the universe into a digital platform. The real trick for the network will be ensuring that the Arrow universe and its many characters won’t overstay its welcome, and that’s means not trying to stretch things too thin.
So as some fans will be happy to see Deathstroke once again surface to give Team Arrow some trouble while Oliver is away – or perhaps play a role in Oliver’s trials following the midseason finale – it’s debatable just how much more the villain had to give to the story. Considering how nicely wrapped up his character’s arc really was at the end of Season 2, bringing him back into the fold so soon is an odd choice. The writers have earned the benefit of the doubt to this point, but we’d hate to see The CW’s confidence undermine their previous work.
Do you share some of our concerns, or has the team behind Arrow risen above criticism in your eyes? Sound off in the comments.
Arrow airs Wednesdays @8pm on The CW.

[h=1]‘Arrow’ Star Talks Potential For ‘Supergirl’, ‘Gotham’ Crossovers[/h]

It may seem like an odd question, but it’s one being posed more and more frequently by those skeptical of DC Comics’ TV plans: what good is a half-dozen superhero shows if they don’t connect to one another? DC and Warner Bros. only have themselves to blame for the debate, with Arrow first adding The Flash as another branch of the same shared CW universe. Given the success of both, networks lined up to get in on the action – and WB was all too eager to please.

Fox claimed Gotham – minus the Dark Knight, of course – and NBC took the horror route with Constantine, but eyebrows were raised when Supergirl was handed to CBS – and therefore would not be included in the same universe as the other two costumed Justice Leaguers. As superhero team-are becoming the new normal, could DC and Warner Bros. really have no intention of putting Green Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl on the same screen?

That question has proven a difficult one to answer. For starters, Greg Berlanti is acting as executive producer of all three shows. Secondly, both Warner Bros. and CBS have a stake in The CW, meaning that a ratings-boosting crossover (all but a guarantee) could benefit both. Even so, concrete answers or statements of intent on Berlanti or the networks’ part have been scarce.

Speaking during Fan Days at Dallas Comic Con (via ComicBook.com), Arrow star Stephen Amell was asked about his own thoughts on potential crossovers. Claiming that working with John Constantine could be interesting given the mystical Lazarus Pits introduced this season, it was no surprise to see Amell connecting the same Supergirl threads as the fans:

“It would be cool to crossover with Supergirl because it’s something with Greg Berlanti, who’s the helmer and sort of the brain trust or the center of the brain trust of Arrow and The Flash and I know so many of the people that are involved in the production of that show so that would be really interesting.”

Though Amell is clearly drawing the same conclusions as most viewers, his lack of a real tease is telling. After all, this is the same actor who claimed that The CW was already creating a Justice League on TV, and that Flash star Grant Gustin should be playing the hero on the big screen. To say that a crossover with Supergirl would be merely “cool” or “interesting” implies that he has little insider knowledge.

That’s not good news or bad for those wishing to see Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) opposite Barry Allen, merely a reality check. Amell, like those at CBS, The CW, and Berlanti himself seem determined to take things slow. The early success of The Flash is what made a crossover event such an appealing idea, so if Supergirl gets off to as strong a start, then perhaps more crossover talks can take place.

As for Gotham, well, Amell seems torn between practicality and a desire to make the most of DC’s movie/TV multiverse:

“Gotham would be a tough one, just because I think they’re out in a different time but the crossover with The Flash was so much fun and did so well that I can’t imagine a world — a universe, no pun intended — where that didn’t happen and continue to happen all the time.”

What do you think of Amell’s comments? Does a joint adventure between Supergirl and at least The Flash seem like a matter of time, or do you have concerns

Arrow airs Wednesdays @8pm on The CW. Supergirl is expected to air on CBS in 2015.

[h=1]‘Arrow’ Showrunner Says The Atom Will Be a ‘Sloppy Superhero’[/h]

Although The CW’s Arrow started off with only one masked vigilante – Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen/the Arrow – the show has introduced more heroes throughout its run. Both Roy Harper/Arsenal (Colton Haynes) and Laurel Lance/Canary (Katie Cassidy) have joined Team Arrow in seasons 2 and 3. Additionally, since the premiere of season 3 introduced Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), Arrow has been leading up to the introduction of The Atom.

Though it’s appeared on Arrow before in holographic form, Ray will officially suit up in his Advanced Technology Operating Mechanism (A.T.O.M.) armor in episode 15, “Nanda Parbat.” However, according to Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim, Ray will not have a smooth transition into vigilantism.

Guggenheim told EW that Ray will follow a similar path to that of Laurel since viewers will see him struggle to adapt to the life of fighting crime. This path will be different than Oliver’s, who demonstrated his vigilante skills in the pilot episode of Arrow and whose transition to the Arrow has been explored in flashbacks. Additionally, Guggenheim said a future episode will delve deeper into Ray’s motivations for creating and donning his A.T.O.M. exosuit.

Read Guggenheim’s full quote:
“He’s definitely a sloppy superhero in the sense of all of our characters don’t immediately have the easiest time fighting crime… I would say episode 19 really digs underneath what does it mean for Ray to be a hero. Is he a hero because of who he is? Or is he a hero because of the suit that he’s made?”

With potentially bigger plans for Ray and his A.T.O.M. exosuit (including a possible spinoff), it makes sense that Guggenheim and the writers are taking their time to develop his character arc from businessman/inventor to vigilante. Though he will officially don the suit in episode 15, it seems there will be a few more episodes before episode 19 truly explores his new role.

However, with Ray standing at the end of a rather lengthy line of characters who have turned into masked vigilantes, Arrow runs the risk of The Atom storyline too closely resembling others that have previously appeared. Not to mention that soon Arrow won’t have any characters left who aren’t a part of the crime-fighting Team Arrow in one way or another – though that may not be a bad thing.

That being said, while viewers have watched many characters, including Roy and Laurel, transition to heroes on Arrow, Ray may offer a new type of character story since his crimefighting will rely on his A.T.O.M. suit. At the very least, those who have enjoyed watching Ray’s progression through the first part of season 3 will likely enjoy his turn as a “sloppy superhero” in his A.T.O.M. suit.

[h=1]New ‘Arrow’ Image Gallery Highlights Brandon Routh’s Atom Costume & More[/h]

Oliver Queen may not have been permanently killed in the duel with Ra’s al Ghul that concluded Arrow‘s season 3 mid-series finale, but he didn’t win either. Now that the League of Assassins has reason to come after not only Oliver but also Thea Queen and Malcolm Merlyn, the not-so-happy family has to get over their grievances in order to survive their next encounter with Ra’s.
It looks like that encounter is going to come sooner rather than later, as next week’s episode of Arrow is titled ‘Nanda Parbat’ and will see Team Arrow clash with the League of Assassins after Ra’s makes his move. Will anyone get stabbed or thrown off a cliff? Will Thea ever forgive her father? Will past-Oliver get that badly-needed haircut?
Here’s the official synopsis for the episode:
Malcolm (John Barrowman) is captured by Ra’s al Ghul (guest star Matt Nable) and taken to Nanda Parbat. Because of his love for Thea (Willa Holland), Oliver (Stephen Amell) considers saving Merlyn. Ray (Brandon Routh) is obsessed with finishing his Atom suit so he can save the city but Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) fears he is heading down the same path as Oliver (Stephen Amell) and tries to pull him out of the lab.

The CW has already teased Ray Palmer’s superhero emergence as the Atom with a promotional image of Routh wearing his fancy new exosuit, but now the network has released a whole batch of new episode stills from ‘Nanda Parbat’ (via CBM) which confirm that Ray will finally suit up next week – though he might not be ready for active crime-fighting just yet.
Check out the episode stills below (click to view larger version).
Spoiler: show

-

In the comics, Ray Palmer’s suit allows him to shrink himself (and other objects) down to the subatomic level. In Arrow he’s still working on getting it to function correctly, but his eventual plan is to use the exosuit to fight crime in Starling City. It looks like he might not make it out of his workshop in ‘Nanda Parbat’, but with the suit finally finished (complete with safety helmet) he could be ready to take it out for a spin soon.
It’s just as well, because the recent casting of Doug Jones as Deathbolt means that Starling City’s days of being metahuman-free are about to come to an end, and Team Arrow could use all the firepower it can get.

[h=1]‘Arrow’ Season 3 Finale to Introduce ‘Major Villain’ For Season 4[/h]

[SPOILERS ahead for anyone not caught up on Arrow.]-
The popularity of The CW’s Arrow - although not the first superhero television show to find success - is why superheroes are quickly become the dominate genre on television. Currently, almost every network is working hard to get a superhero of their own on the air: CBS’ Supergirl, TNT’s Titans, Syfy’s Kryptonjust to name a few. And sure, it’s the heroes that audiences come to see, but often it’s the villains that keep them tuning in.
So far, Arrow has managed to have an interesting and varied line-up of villains, from season one’s Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) and China White (Kelly Hu) to last season’s Brother Blood (Kevin Alejandro) and Slade Wilson (Manu Bennet). Thus far in season three, Oliver and co. have been at the mercy of one of DC’s most imposing villains: Ra’s al Ghul (Matt Nable). The Demon will surely be a tough act to follow, but many said the very same of Slade Wilson (a.k.a. Deathstroke), and his character hasn’t been entirely sidelined since being defeated by the Arrow in season 3.

It will likely be the same with Ra’s al Ghul, as the infamously immortal villain will probably be defeated in some manner before the season is out (though it should by no means be the last we see of him). That still leaves an opening for a new villain to terrorize Team Arrow next season – and according to TV Line‘s Michael Ausiello, the next big bad will be introduced in Arrow‘s season 3 finale. Here’s the full scoop:
The show’s Season 3 finale will introduce a major, formidable, fierce new foe for Oliver, and his reign of terror will continue well into Season 4. The mysterious character is being referred to internally as “Damian Dark,” which got Matt Mitovich and I (but mostly MM) pulling up and skimming the Wiki page of one Damian Wayne. Get it? Damian Wayne. Son of the Dark Knight. They’d probably have to tweak the Bruce Wayne connection, but it’s a plausible theory, no?
Now, before the more comic book literate among us throw a fit, Ausiello soon updated this report with the following:
Readers better-schooled than Matt Mitovich and I (but mostly MM) notes that Damien Darhk is a H.I.V.E. operative per DC lore, and thus is more likely to be introduced.
The name-dropping of Batman’s son may have perked more than a few ears, but for those familiar with the character it’s obvious this is not the Damian they’re introducing on Arrow. Trying to manipulate his origin to fit within the canon of the series would simply be too hard, even if the League of Assassins exists and therefore so does (potentially) Damian’s mother, Talia.
As Ausiello later corrected, there is a DC Comics character already named Damian Dark–in this case, Darhk. A former gangster and underworld thug, Damian would later work for the criminal organization H.I.V.E. and at times battle the Teen Titans.
The only existing image of Damian Darhk.

When it comes to his appearance on Arrow, however, expect the series to create their own spin on the character. H.I.V.E. has already been introduced, though very briefly, in the season 2 episode, “Keep Your Enemies Closer“, as the organization that hired Deadshot to assassinate Diggle’s brother.
Clearly, if they’re looking to bring Damian in the mix, his role will undoubtedly be as some high-level H.I.V.E. operative, perhaps even the de facto leader of the organization that trains mercenaries and assassins for hire. And judging by the earlier connection with Deadshot, it’s even more likely we’ll learn the reason behind the hit on Diggle’s brother, too.
What do think Damian Darhk’s role will be on Arrow? Will he be just another H.I.V.E. hired gun or the one calling the shots? Sound off in the comments below!
Arrow airs Wednesday nights on The CW @8/7c.

[h=1]‘Arrow’: Brandon Routh on ATOM Suit; Says a Superman Team-Up Would Be ‘Cool’[/h]

When the CW released the first image of Ray Palmer’s (Brandon Routh) ATOM suit in Arrow, fans were finally given some kind of context as to how the series would be handling the introduction of such a tech-heavy supersuit amongst its existing skilled vigilante, stripped-down roster. It had the same color scheme as the original suit from the comic books, but the actual materials that created the costume became much more armor-based than fans may have expected. Leaving many fans to believe that the ATOM will act as DC’s version of Iron Man in this new universe.
The last episode of Arrow, titled “Nanda Parbat,” introduced several new storylines and possibilities, least of which being Ray Palmer using the ATOM suit for the first time. However, the last image audiences got of the suit was seeing it streak through the skies of Starling City, leaving fans waiting until the series returns from a three week break on March 18th to discover what happened next.

In a recent interview with IGN, Ray Palmer himself, Brandon Routh, talked about what it’s like putting on the suit:
“This is different from the Arrow and Arsenal suits, and Canary – it’s bada***. It’s a whole different feeling from the Superman suit — the only other suit that I’ve been in.”

The actor also touched on his return to superherodom and differences between playing Ray Palmer in Arrow and Superman in 2006′s Superman Returns:

“TV’s just a whole different animal. The speed at which you work; there’s that. What’s interesting is it’s a long growth period, as we’re finally starting to get into some of the Atom aspect of it. I was just Ray Palmer for a long period of time. So it’s a lot of character development, which is cool and I appreciate. So that’s a little bit different. The world of Arrow is certainly different than the world of Superman and Metropolis. We’re in a darker world. So they’re tonally different. But then you have Flash, which is more like Metropolis — even looks like Metropolis, the architecture of the police station and all that stuff. So it’s cool to be in the world and see that it’s expanding. You have all these other superhero entities coming into it.”

When asked about the possibility of the ATOM meeting Superman at some point in this shared DC TV universe, Routh replied:

“That would be bizarre. There’d probably be some inside jokes and winks at the camera. But that would be cool. It’s such a bizarre thing already for me to be playing this character, and for some people to only be known for playing this character. People young enough who haven’t seen Superman Returns are like, ‘Oh, that guy’s the Atom. What!?! He played Superman!?’ I mean, I get that all the time from people who are fans of Chuck. They see me on Chuck, and their buddies are like, ‘Yeah, he was Superman too,’ and they’re like, ‘What!?’ That’s a cool thing for me, because it means that I’m not just defined by one character. Even if that is the one thing I’m known for, hallelujah! That’s an amazing thing too. So, I don’t know. Anything’s possible. That’d be a trip.”

The interview was conducted before the announcement of an ATOM/Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller)/Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber) spin-off series in the works, but IGN also asked him about the possibility of Ray Palmer getting his own solo show:

“The sky’s the limit I think. DC and CW have done a great job between the two shows, kind of creating a platform to launch these heroes.”

Lastly, the actor was also questioned about the possibility of the ATOM teaming up with Laurel Lance’s (Katie Cassidy) Black Canary:

“It’d be an interesting matchup. They’re in opposite places, but they’re sharing a similar grief I would think. They could definitely come together about that. For them to fight criminals together would be kind of a funny thing. She needs a little bit of levity in her life too.”

The ATOM suits appearance at the end of the last episode represents the introduction of yet another kind of superhero into this shared TV universe. Now, along with skilled fighters and vigilantes like Arrow and Black Canary, meta-humans like Firestorm and The Flash, but now there is a new tech-based, genius hero in this world as well. It proves that the CW and all of the showrunners aren’t afraid to diversify their rosters and it’ll be interesting to see not only how the fellow characters in Arrow react to the ATOM’s new presence in the universe, but also how the characters of Central City will react when Ray and Felicity crossover in episode 18 of The Flash.

With the previously mentioned spin-off in the works right now at DC, as well as the new rumored characters said to be introduced by the end of Arrow‘s third season, fans may be seeing the beginning of this DC TV universe expanding into a much larger world, faster than most may have expected. While it’s interesting to think about who may be introduced sometime soon and what spin-offs shows may be in the works, right now, fans can focus on what will happen next with Ray Palmer when Arrow returns in just over two weeks.

[h=1]‘Arrow’: Two More Characters Will Learn Arrow’s Secret Identity[/h]
[WARNING: This article will contain spoilers for Arrow.]-
The CW’s Arrow certainly doesn’t keep Arrow’s secret identity close to the vest. Before the series had even gotten ten episodes into season 1, Oliver (Stephen Amell) had already revealed his identity to more characters than most superheroes do in three seasons of television (remember Smallville?). In fact, Ollie has always shown his willingness to take the hood off if the situation deemed it necessary.

Just recently even, Oliver revealed his identity to Thea (Willa Holland) – leaving just a few members of the cast left who don’t know Oliver is the Arrow. However, with season 3 already packed to the brim with twists and turns and the showrunners teasing some serious changes to the series coming, there may be more characters set to find out who Oliver Queen really is.

THR recently reported that during the Arrow PaleyFest panel, it was confirmed Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) and Captain Lance (Paul Blackthorne) would learn Oliver’s secret identity in a coming episode. The report also contained quotes from Stephen Amell teasing what to expect from the return episode this Wednesday titled “The Offer.” Amell revealed the reason Ra’s Al Ghul offered Oliver the opportunity to take his place in the first place: “Legend has it that the man who survives Ra’s’ blade will become Ra’s Al Ghul.

He then explained that Al Ghul’s offer will make Oliver realize he hasn’t accomplished as much in Starling City as he’d hoped, which “makes the idea of being the person who commands the League of Assassins in any way that he sees fit really appealing. It’s an offer in name only. It’s not really an offer. It’s a demand. If Oliver says no, there will be incredibly dire consequences.”

The cast and crew of the show have repeatedly teased how much the events in this season will influence the rest of the series and lead directly into season 4, which is said to be completely different that what fans have seen previously. In fact, while appearing at the Kansas City Comic-Con this past weekend, Amell teased fans with the following:

“Without spoiling anything, I will say, I think the greatest moment in the history of the show will be the trailer that we show at Comic-Con this year. I really do, because after three seasons and 69 episodes, we are going to fundamentally change the show at the grassroots level. I think it’s going to be cool.”

In relation to more immediate matters and twists in the series, Amell commented on how Oliver and John Diggle’s (David Ramsey) relationship will change in the coming episodes:

“There are things happening in the episodes that we’re filming right now that are going to alter Oliver and Diggle’s relationship forever.”

He also jokingly added, No, it’s not Diggle becoming Green Lantern,” in reference to some popular fan theories that John Diggle will actually end up becoming the John Stewart Green Lantern in the TV universe. (He won’t.)

Lastly – when asked at PaleyFest how Thea’s arc will continue for the rest of this season, Willa Holland cryptically responded with the following:

“I don’t see her coming back from that lightly. I don’t see it going well. Every time [Malcolm] comes into the room, I just might kill him! I don’t think she ever fathomed the idea of killing someone, [so] this is a huge weight on her shoulders.”

This isn’t news to many fans who have been paying attention to how Thea’s emotional response toward Malcolm (John Barrowman) has evolved over this season, but it does seem to be hinting at something bigger… just some food for thought.

It was already somewhat expected that Routh’s Ray Palmer would find out who the Arrow was, especially with his recent donning of the ATOM suit for the first time. But the news of Captain Lance’s discovery should prove to be an intriguing reveal to most fans and may give more credence to the theories that Lance is the rumored character said to die near the end of this season.

It doesn’t sound like Diggle will be the one to get cut, especially considering how long-term Amell’s comments for him sound, but that could also be a red herring, though it’s possible Lyla could be the one saying goodbye soon. Then again, it’s interesting that there hasn’t been much mention of Roy’s (Colton Haynes) future this season, especially considering fan speculation that Roy would be the the character to die.

Fans know they’re going to get to see the Arrow and the ATOM face off in an upcoming episode, and it looks like Oliver’s relationships with his friends and enemies is going to continue to grow more and more complicated in the coming episodes. With Ra’s Al Ghul’s presence in Starling City growing larger with each day and tension building between the members of Team Arrow, fans look to be in for a very surprising second half of this season.

Arrow is set to return from hiatus to this Wednesday @8pm on The CW.

Did y'all see the new Assassin's Creed trailer? They finally made a AC set in Japan & then they put a negro as the male protagonist. Ubisoft is taking cues from Disney, and it isn't gonna end well for them, just like Disney. Go woke, go broke!

Phil should be held responsible for this shitfest too, just like Sarah, but it's highly likely that these decisions are coming from Satya. And this isn't even the end of it. More closures are coming.

if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.
