really? i didn't know people fake-offered it. :s in my family/surroundings whenever we ask chai or thanda, we really mean it.

likewise, when someone asks me chai or thanda, i do tell them one of the two every time. :s because i assume it's rude to not let the hosts be hosts. maybe just my upbringing. like i've always been taught that while takalluf is necessary, too much of it is insulting.

This reminds me of a rumour I heard regarding one of my university seniors. He had his rishta rejected because his prospective in-laws witnessed him dunking a biscuit in his cup of tea.
Poor soul became a victim of his age-old habit. :laugh1:
Wait, WHAT? So dunking a biscuit in your tea is considered gross? I do that :S

Guys this really gets awkward in office. Now the quality of food in cafeteria in my dept is very bad so i my self avoid going there or ordering anything. i have 5 more people with me in my section. whenever i have any guest over be it personal or official i tend to take them outside to some decent restaurant or somethin but if i dont have time then i dont, and in this situation when the guest is leavin ( and this has heppened every time) each and every person in my section would ask him "AAP CHAYEE PIYEN GAY?", i 've told these guys a million times that when i have a guest i will decide how to treat him and if decided for CHAYEE or whatever i take him outside as you guys have seen me do it many times. mind you own fuckin bussiness! but NO!! eventhough it clear as daylight that they have to intention of actually making good on their offer and the person being offered has no intention to stay

working in a govt institution i heared this like 10 times a day and even worse i usually listen to this bullshit sentence "Ayen Aapki koi Khidmat shidmat karen". (OK BC mere peir b daba aur pori Malish kar)

i personally dont ask anyone but if i ask i ask genuinely not for formality.

Some times biscuits breaks inside the tea while dipping in and at last sip those wet pieces of biscuit sticks with your upper lip and then if you wipe with your tongue that kinda looks ugly gross....

Put it to test when you first meet your prospective in-laws and witness their reaction. Or abstain from it and you'll thank me later on :p

Hahahah! Not that I have anything against dipping biscoot in tea, but the practice of doing so in gatherings isn't looked upon favourably in a civilized society.
Close family is another matter though.

Will try that someday.
I always say no whenever someone asks that.

And I never ask that unless I really am going to give it (which is usually NEVER). :p

i have a strict "no offers" policy i.e i mostly bring something up anyway without asking...

but there are few guests that are just not worth it as they will find something wrong no matter how hard u try so this is for them,
:finger:

Ab saari zindagi wo ye bolta raha k raat ko paratha khila diya. Raat ko paratha khila diya. Baaki cheezein ni yad rahi usko. These guys truly deserve ass pounding.

The sooner you guys realize that "Mehman ki Mehman Nawazi main Jitna Sawab Hay", the quicker you guys will correct your attitude about this.

Its okay to "turn down" the humble offer by other person who may just be asking "for show". But you DO NOT have the right to "judge him" for that. Atleast (s)he fulfilled his responsibility of "Asking".

Also, even if your enemy walks in your house ... he shall be considered a GUEST and should be treated as such.

The young generation these days clearly has A LOT to learn.

Just saying if you guys don't know

Aik dafa Hazarat Mosa A.S ne Allah se pocha "Jab Aap bohat khush hote hain to kya kerty hain".
Allah said "Me barish barsata hon"

Phir pocha "Jab aur khush hote hain to kya karty hain"
Allah said "Me batiyan (daughters) paida kerta hon"

Phir pocha "Jab sab se zyada khush hote hain, to kya kerty hain"
Allah The Al-Mighty said "Me Mehmaan (guest) bhaijta hon"

Today sadly, we took all this rain, birth of a girl and guest coming over as "azmaish" and "zehmat". I'm not pointing at anyone but we should realize "hum kitny pani me hain". may Allah give all of us Hidayat, Ameen.

Wow I am honestly shocked at the guys who simply refuse to offer a guest anything. I mean, it's somewhat understandable if you treat close friends that way but not offering refreshment to someone who comes to your home is absolutely pathetic and shameful.

I don't know if any of you will take my advice, but guys, you owe your guests comfort and refreshment when they come to your door. At least have some respect for our culture.
