Spoiler: show
True Detective, Episode 2. Then end when Rust and Cohle go that old church. Rust calls Cohle over after he's discovered something. The camera shifts and there's that horrific painting on the wall. Rust starts drawing, music rolls, camera zooms out. That fucked me up good for a day or two.

OP's problem is not inspiration. It's withdrawal. This is different from liking something and getting obsessed.
mmm sorry but I want to disagree! the caught-up, or "withdrawl"(quoting you) is a pull back towards the moment what I really really LOVE Most! its not really a negative feel at all! It feels sad but not really in bad terms! I dont see how it is NOT inspirational! :/

Great that you have mentioned Tomb Raider (2013), I felt feeling after that game too! OST "Survivor" takes me to this state.... :/ do u feel any nostalgia or smthing about game hearing ost? I do!

Not Tomb Raider 2013 Bro. Tomb Raider 4 I played for whole one year to complete. 2000 I guess. So I am talking about 14 years. Even now I love and remember everything in it.

It took me weeks to get over the ending of Six Feet Under.

For movies, American History X and American Beauty endings had a profound effect on me. The Diving Bell and Butterfly as well.

We are sometimes so immersed by the game/movie/show that the characters become like a part of our life. That's why we feel saddened at the end because we won't be able to see them again.

It doesn't bother me much, I actually prefer shows that have such an effect on me, lol.

Sometimes when i fell very engrossed by a sad scenario of something i'm watching, i shake my head literally to throw off the feeling and tell myself thats the fake world, come to real life.

That sounds a bit different. The OP is talking about feeling sad after finishing a game/book/movie/TV show or basically any story that you got really invested in.

I think the last time I felt that strongly was when I finished Persona 4 for the first time. I was sad for a couple of days after I got done with that game.
I've never been disturbed without being upset about it.

It happens to me when I come back to Karachi after a vacation to some other place.

It also happened to me after I ended Fargo, Band of Brothers, Breaking Bad etc etc. It's pretty normal.

I used to finish games just for that feeling. Some how the real world took over eventually.

happens after i finish some anime / series. felt really bad when stopped watching top gear.

games that made me most sad after completion were mgs3/4, witcher series, dragon age origins (was free after graduation, put over 180 hours in that game),
final fantasy 3 on android (man i really enjoyed lying on bed and playing a proper rpg on my phone).
currently midway in dark souls 2, seems this game will give same feeling after completion.

felt good (kind of relieved / good riddance feeling) after ending watch dogs recently though ;)

hi everyone!
it might feel a little weird, but i wanted to ask everyone if it is normal!

after watching some movie or tv series (not everyone, just the one that touches me) i feel caught up in the moment! i feel this strange sadness wrapped around me and takes me days to get over it!
it is related with music in my opinion!
e.g after finishing my most recent anime Avatar: the last air bender! i cant get Zuko out of my mind, background music esp of Azula vs Zuko last agni kai! :/

it happened with me after watching many other movies too! just curious what is it?
Nothing to worry about, it is completely normal. When someone experiences something truly profound in their respective choice of media, this feeling you mentioned usually occurs.

I myself watch TONS and TONS of animes, series, movies and play games. Every once in a while, there comes something that truly grips me and doesn't let go even days after I have finished it. That is how you know that you truly have experienced a MASTERPIECE.

And like you, the intensity of this feeling is mostly related to the soundtrack for me too as I simply love a good soundtrack. I still remember how CLANNAD made me feel after finishing it. Both times I watched it, its ungodly beautiful music stayed in my head for days. Hell, even thinking about it sometimes overwhelmed me and gave me goosebumps. Avatar: The Last Airbender did this to me too all those years ago when I watched it.

Finishing LOTR trilogy gave me this feeling too.

As for games, the last game that did this to me was The Last of Us. Other games that I can think of that gave this kind of experience are MGS4 and Mass effect 1 and 2. Not three because well the ending sucked initially, extended cut made it better. :p

It mostly happens with series or animes because they are long and we get more attached to the characters and the world in it that after they end, a sadness over looms for days (if it is great that is).

Did y'all see the new Assassin's Creed trailer? They finally made a AC set in Japan & then they put a negro as the male protagonist. Ubisoft is taking cues from Disney, and it isn't gonna end well for them, just like Disney. Go woke, go broke!
