The Supreme Court of Pakistan has set a thirty-day deadline for the auction of 3G Telecommunication licenses.


A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the 3G licence auction and appointment of Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) chairman case on Monday.


During proceedings, the Chief Justice remarked that the PTA chairman and members be appointed within the next fifteen days and 3G licences should be auctioned fifteen days after the appointments.


The chief justice further said that in the absence of the PTA, grey trafficking had become a billion rupee business as there was no authority to check it. He added that this might be the reason why the PTA was being stopped from becoming a regulator.

Ye to mulk walon ka haal hai, kisi cheez main khushi nahin... :p

BTW 4G LTE along with 3.5G would've better as more options would've been present, nearly all the handsets available with everybody have 3.5G capabilities. 4G isn't much common.

WTF! Pakistan is getting 3G now In other countries 4G is out like here In Saudi Arabia.And only one company offers blazing fast speed of upto 100mbps.Another company also offers but never saw its review.And one famous company 4g router is capped to 2,4,6mbps.And its getting crap right now.I Hope one of my neighbours get stc 4g router so i can hack it to use just like what im doing right now:p

Whenever I read the title '3G coming to Pakistan' it always feels like a case of deja vu.. Only different days, months, years pending for auction are ended as suffix!

Thanks for the news. 30 Days you say? Will unlock this thread at a closer date ... once we get a solid response regarding the launch of 3/4G.

    did you try setting up Google Payments? For UBL you may have to get it enabled for internet transactions, Naya should work without it!
