Which modem do you have and how long have you had it for?

PTCL ones tend to act up if repeatedly powered on and off (by loadshedding).
Get a new Zyxel modem if possible from your Exchange. The new firmware is quite nice and the modem will probably work better than older ones as well.

It's D301, the model. It has 2 Antennas at back.

We have just shifted the connection from Rawalpindi to Islamabad, a month ago. Yes, it only turned off by loadshedding. lol

Should I really get the Zyxel modem then?

Tenda D301, haven't heard much about it, but the only Tenda router I had ended up going in the bin after a few months.

Loadshedding shouldn't affect the router within one month, the effects only happen if it turns off regularly for a long time, then you'll start noticing issues.

Don't get the Zyxel one yet, get yourself a decent 2-3k router and disable the WiFi on the D301.

Hey guys. I just received a call from ptcl saying that for the next 2 days there will be some upgradation work being done in my area due to which internet and phone services may be disrupted. After that it said your area will have access to high speed internet.
What are they talking about? Gpon coming to our area or what?
Currently on 12mbps package in peshawar hayatabad phase 2 area

Is your line already from a fiber cabinet? If so, then it's most likely GPON.

Nice to see PTCL doing work in Peshawar as well.

Expers help please, how to differentiate ADSL and VDSL? my street DP(distribution point) is ADSL and if they put a VDSL card without upgrading Line (exchange to DP) , i will Get VDSL ? i am getting new BB connection 8MB if i get it in ADSL will it work fine?

hmm...i am not sure.they replaced the old cabinet with a new one few days ago but nothing changed for me. the new cabinet i saw when it arrived, it was packed in a wooden box and it had ZTE written on it. i was on a fibre connection before everything with vci/vpi 8/81.

edit. they also have green ptcl signs put up in places they are digging saying High speed internet coming to this area.

Similar signs up in Bahria Rawalpindi here, green signs of PTCL work in progress, and we also have boxes coming with ZTE written on them.

i have now totally left the hope just got a new ptcl number first it was from a onu cabinet it was 3688xxxx now it is 710xxx series they changed my cabinet but still same issue. [MENTION=42544]murtaza12[/MENTION] [MENTION=11094]StrikerX[/MENTION] my latency+speed issue is not leaving me alone at exact 8pm my default gateway ping get increased to 140-150ms from 34ms by that thing i am getting high at all servers from a to z wtf is wrong with my routing :( it works great till 8pm then this issue starts i have seen 2-3 same more complains in lahore. i have no clue on this shit plus my complain is already on the top list at my local exchange there's a guy he calls me everyday to get a update from me.

Why are you running traceroutes to PTCLs website?

The ping to the gateway is insanely high.

brooo i have personally messaged umm khan he knows my all issue. this guy Umm Khan | Facebook but he isnt replying anymore. see this shit 8mb par itni speed drop ho rahi hay at exact 8:30pm iss say phele bilkul perfect hota hay. i am on a 9215 profile so its around 7.80 uss say phele but jaisy he 8:30 hotay hay yeh scene shoru

I see. I am just supposing at this point since I don't have the technical details in front of me but I think its a capacity issue at your exchange and or area. [MENTION=42544]murtaza12[/MENTION] had a similar issue at his place before as well IIRC

Though I don't know how exactly you can get this sorted out though ...

I did, although it wasn't this severe, pings to gateway were around 50-70 ms which was annoying, but it didn't last long and it fixed itself without me complaining.

I'm still on the same gateway even now and it's fine. Barely 5-6 ms ping even during peak hours.

Easiest method to differentiate is that on VDSL your phone will not work and you will need a VDSL capable modem. Yes theoretically its possible but PTCL is not stupid enough to install a VDSL card on a DP that's running on ancient copper wires. They will only install them when they know their infrastructure will be able to handle decent enough speeds which simply isn't possible on ADSL.

see this now have 0 clue what to do about this thing. at exact 1:30 this issue will not be here but tomorrow it will be same :( snr wont even change and it will back to 7.80mbps
