Whats so 'obselete' about the games you have mentioned?

Comon now ...

Win8 will definitely support each and everything which is working on Win7, and hopefully, it'll IMPROVE on it as well.

This is just a consumer preview. Just use it as your secondary OS, get to know it. Roam around and have fun. Thats all you can do right now.

The guys who're using Windows 8 since a bit i.e. mary, mubadir etc. Can you tell me:

1) Any real time performance advantages?
2) Boot up time speed in comparison (claimed was 5 seconds?)
3) HDD space just for the OS being installed?
4) Any compatibility issues?

And apart from what's mentioned in the thread, what other good features that you think there are in it?
boot time is same as windows7 even installation time is almost same.
i did not see any realtime performance increase (may be performance increase is visible for old computers)
there is slight increase in benchmark scores.

No problems at all.

I am running GTA SanAndreas on my Home Family PC (x86 Win7), without a dedicated GPU (with onboard graphics). And its running Perfectly fine.

I agree.

If you remember ... Win7 is as fast as Win8 when you install new. With time, it gets slower. At times, drastically slower ... without any apparent reasons. Feels like, its been bogged down.

People have been commenting on Win8's fast performance, without realizingt that "New Windows" are BOUND to perform faster than your expectations. Load it with TONS of softwares, especially the CPU & RAM intensive ones, you'll see how good it TRULY performs.

However ... With Win8, the performance is ACTUALLY improved as compared to Win7. Even on a PC, which can't run Win7 Aero perfectly a'right ... Win8 with its Metro UI is running perfectly fine, and with lesser RAM.

So yeah, it is actually improved over the previous one.

That said, i have installed Win8 on my machine and i have been loading it with TONS of softwares. So far, it has been running WELL. But i dont know how long its gonna last because Win7 was the SAME (when new) when it did the same on it.

Does everyone else that has used Window8 agree with Furball over here?
Yes i completely do ...

Keep updating the thread for any issue that may come up with this new OS e.g. like this guy claiming something above me.

I'll most probably go for the full retail version, wouldn't want Windows 8 beta as my primary OS.

No, it is not for me! Windows 8 boot in less then 10secs for me (sm2), you might have hobernation disabled.

Yea I thought so, just need more people to confirm that.
Please remember Windows 8 is built on Windows 7 core. That means there will be some improvements but do not expect miracles. There are improvement in the performance side too. check this link,

Yep, that is really dam fast. And you're right, as this is just the Beta version, any additional improvements would be considered (tweaked) before its official release.

well guys i installed win 8 on vmware several days ago, umm i find it more complicated then any other OS. First time i was using it i wasn't able to close an opened window since there is no CROSS sign above. Anyways, its FINE but i ll stick to windows 7. THE worst part was the windows 8 logo, seriously a FISH LOL

I am glad someone noticed that. That literally made me go WTF all the way till it booted

I seriously hope its just for "Preview" purposes and they dont leave their original Windows Logo.

That said, i learned almost all the gestures (for MetroUI) in first 10 minutes. However, those 10 minutes really were a pain in the ... head.

You guys got it wrong.
The FISH is merely a bootscreen logo. It is NOT the Windows logo.
Windows logo is this one.

That fish is merely the wallpaper for bootscreen

Did y'all see the new Assassin's Creed trailer? They finally made a AC set in Japan & then they put a negro as the male protagonist. Ubisoft is taking cues from Disney, and it isn't gonna end well for them, just like Disney. Go woke, go broke!
