Will Windows 8 work on my p4 3.2ghz?? plzzz help.

Assalam-o-Alikum dear pg brothers...
i am using a pentium 4 and was curious to know will windows 8 would work flawlessly on my pc??
so i thought to get some advice from the well experienced ppl here.

my pc specs are:
dell optiplex gx280
pentium 4 3.2ghz
1gb ram
160gb harddrive
built in graphics, no external graphic cards

i dont play such big games just
counter strike
nfs underground
marvel vs capcom
tekken 3
in my free time.

but a heavy use at web surfing
(open up nearly 50 to 60 tabs at time at firefox)

please help me by giving the best advice.
and i am not planning to upgrade to a new pc in 3 months or so.

It certainly wouldn't work 'flawlessly' due to you just having 1GB memory for starters. I can't understand that what OS you're using currently that enables you to open that many tabs with 1GB ram and just a P4.

It might, or might not but from what I've heard and read Windows 8 works better on old hardware than Vista/7. Just give it a shot in dual-boot, if it runs well keep it as your primary operating system.

forget about 50-60 tabs.

Do not install windows 8 with 1 gb ram. ur processor will work fine ram will create problem.

1) IMHO Windows 8 is not good for gaming because it keep doing background activities even i turned off live title and background status of apps. because of this, pings never stays constant.

2) your ram is not enough. mine is 4GB. I use firefox and some addons for website testing (to find exploits in them) yesterday i counted my tabs it was 357 and window 8 was lagging really bad, mouse pointer was jumping 1/2 inch on screen. forgot to record my memory consumption. see my laptop spec.

I am using win 8 on one of my branded system and one on a very old laptop for my work purposes, the branded sys is 2.8 ghz pentium d with 4 gb ram it works flawless on it but on laptop p4 1.4 ghz and 1 gb ram it lags but better than win 7 , I suggest upgrade ur ram cause my branded used to have 2 gb first and it used work good on that 2 gb to better than win 7

Windows 8 is not as much resource hogger as Windows 7/Vista. Its much more optimized and the 32bit version will roughly take 600MB or so. It'll work just fine, infact much better than Windows 7. However, don't expect it to perform like WinXP which needs just 200-250MB of RAM to work (i.e. More RAM available for other tasks).

Then there will be a minor Drivers issue. Audio drivers will get installed Automatically. Its the VGA Drivers which might create a problem. So be warned.

Other than that you are good to go.

You should also make the C: drive bigger, atleast 40GB is recommended for 32bit (and 60/80GB for 64bit).

Windows 8 will run on anything and the requirement is 1GB RAM only.

IIRC the Windows 7 requirements said 2GB RAM minimum.

sir i am using windows xp 32 bit, and my pc gets nearly hanged when i does that so with a little juice left i have to close some of them in order to work perfectly again.

i am truely thankful to all of my brothers here... i think i should give it a try... i will update you the results asap... will try to add 1 more 1gb memory stick to my pc... (thx) for all the support... JAZAKALLAH.
