Whats a damn sound card for

ok i never knew what it is..when i had speakers i used them by pluging into the jack thing behind my cpu...then i got woofers and i did the same thing and they work great..and the same thing with the headphones..they work.....

now im planing on getting 5.1 headphones...so would i need this 'sound card' thingy that i keep hearing about getting sold here n there ? or would i just do the same and use them..like just pluging them behind the pc

Not needed if your motherboard has 5.1 sound built-in (most do, even 7.1 in the case of higher end ones).

A sound card does produce better results though, but for an average human ear it's very hard to tell the difference.

An external sound card usually produces better quality sound.

A built-in sound card (the one you are currently using) is usually an average sound card.

USB 5.1 headphones won't use your builtin or external sound card.

how would i kno...i just go out and buy a sound card and then find out that the headphones work on the normal jack things the same way it does on the card ? ...btw my mother board is intel....idk which one but it says it can run a 3.2 GHz core 2 duo processer thingy

Use CPUZ and find out what is your mobos' model number or chip its using.

the model is MS-7267 .. and idk which ones im getting yar i dont even know which ones exist out there..lol im just gonna go to islamabad ...look for some place where there would be computer shops [cuz idk where are pc shops with high tec stuff in pindi/islamabad either] and then pick one.....

what else can a guy with not much knowledge like me do ...[i know i might be wasting my money]
