I have a querry, I bought that INVEREX which has option for installing Solar Panels too. Do I have to connect Solar Panels directly in the UPS or I have to fit in something before connecting Solar Panels?

That depends on the configuration of the UPS. You need to ensure two things, first you need to stop the charging which is being transmitted from KE and switch the charging to Solar only. There must be a switch or a button for that on the ups. Second, you have to make sure that you connect the correct wattage of the panels in your UPS. The wattage depends upon the batteries.

Actually according to dealer there is also Manual Priority and Automatic Priority settings. If I set it to Automatic with Solar first then it will check if Enough power is being generated for Battery to charge, if its not upto mark then it will start charging from Wapda automatically. I dont know how much of this is true since I dont have Solar panels yet and plan to buy them in Summer. But these Options looked attractive to me so I went for it. I still have doubts since these chinese UPS with so complicated settings often fail too early. Luckily I have its 1 yr parts+ Labour warranty.

Practicality of a solar powered house/UPS

The roof of my house is directly connected to the sun I think because in the summer times it actually radiates heat like a frying pan and it is almost impossible to live in the upper section of the house without air conditioning so I was thinking that placing solar panels over the roof might be a good idea.

A few years back there was this article about iesco where there were proving net metering or something like this where the meter would run in reverse if you could provide it with your own solar powered electricity, I wanted to know if anyone has tried that and gotten good results,?

If net metering isn't an option then would charging the ups through solar panels is another option which is rather easy too but I'm not sure how much of saving could thay provide per month since it's only charging the ups, if anyone has a similar set up then please guide me regarding this too. The ups has 2 185amp batteries and the avg load shedding in summers is around 6 7 hours a day.

These are the current 2 options I have in my mind. The roof of the house is quite big so if there are any other ideas on the utilization of the roof space then share those too. Thanks.

And is there a way to use solar powered electricity and your wapda supplied electricity simultaneously? Like as much solar produced electricity is there that should be used fully and if more is needed then you could get that from you local supply? This kind of tech could be really wonderful.

Generator buying advise

Hi,

I am looking to buy a generator 2.5-3 KVA in karachi. Will need to run on Gas.

I need to know which brand is best (chinese or any other) as per your personal experience.

etc

Also shall i buy generators made for Natural Gas or the ones that are on petrol and run on gas via Gas Kit? what would be the efficiency difference between the two types?

Also suggest me best place to buy in karachi possibly in Johar, Gulshan or surrounding areas.

Bro best is Honda. For local JESCO is better, do remember that in any case, engine overhauling would have to be done after 2 years and 1.5 years for firman like brands depending upon load shedding size of your area, like 6 hours daily.

If not honda, buy a cheap Chinese generator of better quality and in case engine needs overhauling replace the engine and make generator new. New Chinese engines are available around 12.5K plus 3K labour and parts.

Rest do the math.

It has honda engine in it which is the main component.
I have been using grannitto which is sorta chinese but is actually a Italian or middle Eastern company idk
But its wayy better than chinese firman and stuff
Have been using it for over 3 years
No major issue to date.

1000 means 670 watts .. for pc backup its fine but for 3 fans load its not ok .. cux 1 kva charger will not support for 3 fans but yes if u can use 2 fans instead of 3 fans then 1 kva will be fine .. for extended backup time conversion charges will be like 1500 rupees which includes software and hardware modification after that use it with 2 batteries up to 135 ah of any liquid battery ... if u r from lahore thn contact this company ... go for apc brand .. pure sine wave .. rating 1500 va that makes 980 watts .. works with 2 batteries .. if u need shorter backup lets say 5 to 15 mins thn internal 2 batteries will be fine but if u need ur load to work for hours during outages thn use 2 external liquid or dry batteries .. if u need shorter backup thn price including batteries will be like 25k + 5 k equals to 30 k ... but if not then ups will cost u 25k without batteries and for batteries go for any liquid brand dat u r comfortable with like ags exide etc ... u can use up to 150 ah x 2 ...

2 to 3 kw
Their good generators
Better than China
Ive been using grannitto for almost 3 years on gas and petrol
No major problem up till now
Just remember the best way to prolong the life of a generator is to do timely oil changes
Grannitto recommends to change the oil every 40 hours on gas
And i do it every 40 hours on time
Hence no major engine breakdowns .

We currently have Megagate something. The fan inside is SO LOUD and there isn't any flow either! Want to 'upgrade' to some other better brand. Any recommendation in where I can get one? In Islamabad.

Stick with UPS. Solar don't really pay them selves off later. They degrade pretty quickly too and cost a fortune.

As the season of load shedding is upon us ( lol to roshan paksitan!! ) i am thinking of purchasing a UPS JUST for my internet router so that i could use internet jab light na ho. i am using ptcl internet. do u guys have any recommendations that could power up the router atleast for two hours ?

Yes it is compatible with your router. But you dont need such UPS only for running your router. Max load for your router will be under 50 watts at any time.
There are many local vendors which are selling UPS made specifically for router or running an energy saver etc.
I did a quick search on Olx Ups For Wifi And Energy Saver ( Mini Ups ) - Karachi - Generators, UPS & Power Solutions you could get something similar to this. The money you will save can be spent on getting a dry battery to go along with it.

Guys, i provide pure sine wave ups up to 2 KVA. I make them my self. So for any queries regarding UPS do let me know. FYI i specially make ups for gaming PCs.
