Here we go:
Mobile Device Identification, Registration and Blocking Regulations, 2017
They have issued the rules and regulations on 12 September to do this. Not sure since when the Mobile Device Identification Registration and Blocking System "DIRBS" will start but the rules are issued. Basically:
1. Only proper IMEI phones will be allowed to work.
2. Type approval would be required, others won't work.
3. Personal use phones imported can obtain the NOC as usual for this.
4. Registration of the Phone/IMEI would be carried out using the DIRBS system to make sure it is a compliant device.
5. Mobile phones with duplicate IMEI, non-standard IMEI and reported Stolen would no longer work.
6. Those coming to Pakistan for certain period only i.e. Roaming devices, will be not required to obtain the NOC/registration for a certain period of time, no time frame is mentioned yet.
7. Consumers with non-compliant devices will be informed before hand and they will be given a chance to register.
8. Consumers can report a stolen device easily.
If I missed something, can be added but everyone can read the guideline and rules above.
