Hi Guys,
I am sure most of you who use Facebook know by now that many people are planning to deactivate their accounts or to not use Facebook on 20th May (or a couple more days) as a protest. The reason is that Facebook is not removing some Islam-hate groups/events and pages - specially the new event "Everybody draw Muhammad(SAW) day".
I would like to know your opinions about this protest. To be honest, I think it is a half hearted move. I think that Facebook wouldn't care less if it's a 1 day thing even if all the Muslims participated in it. I think it's kind of a way of saying "I don't like what is going to happen on 20th May so I won't use Facebook for a couple of days but I am addicted to it so I'll start using it from the next day"
If anything, the only thing that COULD affect the Facebook was if everybody withdrew from it permanently and shifted to a different social networking website. Because right now, the Facebook staff knows that at most it's only going to be a small scratch on their money.
Please note that I don't think this protest is a bad thing. I think it's good to know that people are bothered by it but what I am saying is that the way the protest is being done is useless. I know it might sound a bit harsh or stupid but feel free to comment/criticize/curse etc...
