My lineman just called me that VDSL is now available in my area but traditional telephone via splitter will not work if I shift from ADSL. Kindly shed some light on this matter.

yes i think you have to replace router and accessories from adsl to vdsl

splitter is just LPF for telephone it will work with VDSL or maybe he is talking about FTTH

I see. AFAIK copper wires are not very reliable for connections of more than 8mb.

if your home is not far from ptcl new cabinet or msag then you can get maximum speed from vdsl. How far away is your home from PTCL new cabinet or msag?

well, i dont have it currently installed, because earlier i had it removed due to frequent disconnections and what nots, but now they have replaced all the underground copper wires and they are begging me to re-install, its part of their target, so i am skeptical if it would work,
i never had more than 2 mbps speeds on my ptcl line, but since they have replaced all the lines which are still copper but i dunno what would be the result...

its not msag but regular copper to copper cabinet its rather new, and they have replaced all copper wires to the cabinet and from the cabinet to my home, so its all copper loop which is new,

and the exchange is only at walking distance from my home

yeah have replaced all the copper wires from regular copper to copper cabinet (not fiber msag)

and i am at TandoAllahyar Sindh,

these guys are like begging me re-connect my phone, but i am afraid they all will complete their targets and i will be in vein after all their lies,

i am currently using jazz 4g which gives 40mbps down and 30mbps up, which us quiet enough for me with 75gb a month package

Met the DSL guy today and he told me that the charges of GPON/FTTH for new customers are 12k upfront and for existing customers, its only 4k.

Noop vdsl, transworld has started digging up in my area. It is just a temporary upgrade before shifting to gpon(ftth). Anyways, I have heard on the net that in some countries rather than using traditional splitter, phone is provided via vdsl modem like VOIP.

If they were replacing the wires then they should have gone with fiber optics but since they are stupid and greedy they replaced with copper wires again. Thats the problem with PTCL. They talk about the future but their service is worse then 2005. Screw these scammers. I had fiber optics available by 2012 in Saudi Arabia and they installed it for free with the ONT and my area was pretty old. Its all about the business mindset. Either serve the customers or be greedy pricks and only think about profits like PTCL.

it will be installed today, will update about the performance,

and right now they have given me adsl2 connection will try to upgrade to Vdsl2 in the future

btw does vdsl work on copper networks ? or it only works on fiber msags ?

I recently upgraded from 4mbps to 10mbps dsl and I'm having some issues. I'm getting only up to 8mbps and when downloading something the speed fluctuates a lot. It is like it hits 8mbps then slows down to 5 or 6mbps for a second then goes back up. Nothing like this happened when I had 4mbps or even 8mbps in the past. My SNR is 12.4, attenuation is 28.6 and modem is syncing at 11262 downstream. I registered a complaint twice to no avail. Even went to the exchange and they just bulshitted about how my line doesn't support anything over 4mbps when I have a perfectly stable connection with good stats. I am at a loss here. Did anyone here have a similar issue and can help me with this?

Talk to the local lineman of your area. He might be able to help you out.

I complained on twitter and they resolved the issue. I'm getting full 10mbps on my downloads now.
