Telenor has really improved their 3G (only on Band 1) in Faisalabad recently but their 5 MHz 3G and 4G on Band 5 is still a shit.

My phone mostly catches Band 5 3G indoors and speed is very bad. 3G speed remains 1-5 Mbps and 4G speed 1-4 Mbps. I had a Zong unlocked Wingle device which only supports 3G on band 1 (No band 5) and 4G on band 3 only (No band 5 4G as well), So I tried inserting Telenor sim in it and I am getting very good speed.

Unfortunately Telenor does not have band 3 4G or CA in any part of Faisalabad.


On the other hand Jazz's 4G speed is very good (not extraordinary like Isl/RWP because No CA has yet been made by Jazz here)

But their DC-HSPA+ on band 1 is performing very bad. Even their 5 MHz 3G on band 9 has better speed and coverage. They are really wasting their precious 10 MHz band 1 spectrum now.

Only Islamabad has CA.

As for poor 3G - are you using a prepaid SIM? That cap *sounds* like you are.

Telenor has done something to their 3G which is akin to what Mobilink has done to their 4G (because in some places, Telenor's 3G is faster than their 4G).

Also, with me and my family, we're getting horrible pings to Pakistani servers on Mobilink. I also contacted them and told them that there are several spots where their calls fall back to 3G, and they said (either in an attempt to close the complaint or something else) that our coverage in those areas is weak and continuity on 3G will hamper while travelling.

Coverage in those areas ranges between -65dBm and -81dBm. I don't know how that is weak. And this happened on Islamabad Highway. At Khanna Pul and Koral Chowk.

Oh, and I tried submitting the complaint through their Jazz Experience app, and the app didn't send it onward. Since Friday. Had to send it to them on Twitter, and those guys didn't send the full details onward (although I did get a call from them the same day).

Jazz's call fall back to 2G from 3G because most of the time phone connects to band 8 3G (due to better indoor coverage), and band 8 only has 5 MHz spectrum. Due to congestion on band 8 3G, calls fall back to 2G within a minute, No matter one is travelling or sitting on a couch in his house. This is a known issue of Jazz (although they won't admit it. Perhaps they are doing it intentionally). Every time I need to make a long call I turn network mode to 3G only. And it remain on 3G irrespect of the band it connects. Because 2G voice on Jazz is worst.

3G has way more capacity than 2G. If all calls are falling down to 2G, then that should free up 3G.

That said, 5Mhz is a lot for 3G calls. And they have 2100Mhz as well - even if it's weak - so the phone should switch over.

There's no rhyme nor reason. Not saying other operators don't suffer from this (they all do) but within the urban cities, they best turn off their 2G networks now and stick to 3G or 4G.

And they should launch VoLTE.

Oh, they should do a lot of things.

Chinese are desperate for 5G. They can't let anyone win 5G race even at any cost. That is what handover Huawei a ban on their 5G equipments in many countries. Because americans are not ready, and chinese are running away with opportunity.


There were no 4G opportunity when Zong launched 4G, but they successfully created it. Now they want to it same with 5G. Only this way they can overtake Telenor in Pakistan to truly compete Jazz.


And No I am not being a Zong fan boy but you have to give credit where it is due. They had all the credit to make 4G a mainstream data service in Pakistan.

    Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
