See the CPU-Z screenshot closely, there must be a "ES" at the end of CPU name. Engineering Samples. Intel shipped an i7-3770k CPU + DZ77GA-70k motherboard for testing purpose.

Frankly speaking I am not impressed with IVY Bridge at all. I think You are better off with Sandy esp interms of overclocking. Overall Ivy might be better but not by much on stock speeds 3770K is slightly just slightly better than 2600K which is not impressive.

Only in cinebench I think He got the processor VERY LATE from Intel so he didn't have much time to write the review.

What if you saw the award that Core i5-2500K won last year in Intel’s Second-Gen Core CPUs: The Sandy Bridge Review but didn’t upgrade? What if you’re still stuck on an old Core 2- or Phenom-based platform and need something new? In that case, of course a desktop Ivy Bridge-based chip makes more sense than buying what is now last-generation hardware.

I fixed that mistake. Big sites have whole teams working on a single review for the launch day so almost no chance of mistake. Yahan 1 hi banday ka juice nikalta hai. Ab to neend b marr gayi hai meri

I'll summarize the whole review here.

Performance improvement over 2600K is around 10%.
It runs a bit hotter, nothing to worry about.
Upgrade from Sandy=No.
Upgrade from any other platform (minus LGA2011)= Get ivy instead of sandy.
Need to use IGP= Get Ivy.

I am trying to get i5 3570K, i think it'll be a better ivy and will make lots of sense

How about a person whose making it from scratch and not an upgrade from anything

EDIT: waise it also depends on budget and your nature. If you can live with anything, then find some cheap deal of Sandy Bridge and be happy. If you want the best then Ivy Bridge.

To be honest, If I knew that Ivy was gonna screw up like this (even in small ways), I would have gone for SB months back (again). The advantage was pretty much only for the Z77 mobo's that came out this April.

I was also waiting to jump on the Ivy Bandwagon but my primary aim for the investment is Overclocking and i cant spend 15k just for Water Cooling -.-

Here is hoping some later Steppings will actually address the Heating issues (sm1)

I'm not waiting another year man (already have for 5 months) and I know that even if Intel were to take out some new Stepping's, it would be at the end of this year. I guess I'll just wait out this week then.
