No need to rush things, took me around 120 hours to finish Dark Souls when it takes around 90 for an average player but thats cuz I enjoyed every second of it. I will do the same with Skyrim

Lets see, Oblivion has around 300 hours of content in it or so I hear. Since I hear Skyrim will have more to do in it than Oblivionn, lets double it and since I play slow as hell, I'm looking at over 800 hours of gameplay Thats my rough assessment

So yeah you're a prisoner just like the opening of every other elder scrolls game at the start, hope thats not a spoiler lol..

the lighting and environments in the first few minutes i played were stellar, absolutely magnificent, but on the flip side i noticed a bit of tearing on the upper side of the screen too, probably overscan issues, still the IQ that the game has. I can live with 1% tearing very easily.

Its getting on my nerves now, so much games and less time, didn't even start gears 3, battlefield 3 & now skyrim and COD MW3 is out now....i m so tensed...i m just playing UC3 one chapter a day only..

so looks like chandoo is the first person on PG to have started a new game of Skyrim ?

well i guess i won't be the first to finish it .. gotta play Gears 3 and Arkham before I even begin Skyrim .. big ass RPG's require dedicated attention spans.


well.. i guess i can give some brief impressions of the first few minutes (non spoiler).


1. Loading times aren't as bad as I thought, i'm running off of a USB HDD, not the onboard 360 HDD and it was still fairly snappy.
2. Voice acting is greatly superior to oblivion
3. Visuals look fine as fuck. Super clean, great looking environmental effects and such (I'm guessing its 720p/4xMSAA The atmosphere is just oozing from the screen
4. Didn't get a chance to get into much combat but the game suggests when you dual wield you can't block AT ALL, that's stupid.

I'm installing SKYRIM now and it'll take 2 more mins, can't believe this day is here there's only one game that coulkd make me happier rite now and that's revelations.

i dont know, just played a few mintues of the on-rails opening where you're being led to prison, didn't get into the actual game, you don't create a character when you press new game, there's a somewhat lengthy half life esque on-rails opening segment where you're introduced to the world.

So it starts off in the prison once again? Sans Captain Piccard I reckon. The character creation would be the same I guess; answer questions to specify the character.

spent the entire night playing it. I know i will be under a lot of heavy fire for saying this but i am not impressed. May be i m just not that far into the game or my expectations were too high from my first Elder Scrolls game, i cant say but the only thing i seemed to enjoy in this game are the lush and detailed environments. Character models are dull, animated really bad and voice acting is just so so.
I was expecting more from combat but i find it really difficult to fight without a target lock (is there any?) weird and clumsy blocking (i couldn't move fast or strafe properly with my shield/ guard up), inconvenient menus meaning you have to fumble through a whole lot of weird shit while in the midst of a fight to pull something up, even the favorites arent that nifty as they sound. Swinging a sword in first person is not satisfying at all and the lousy third person view makes my character move like he has got a stick jammed up his arse.
The only reason i was excited about Skyrim was because of my infatuation with the dragons but haven't found any yet . May be i am being a bit impatient but after dying like a millionth time in the dark Souls and still loving it, i am compelled to draw comparisons. Lets see how this romance with the dragons fare.

I HAD the time back in '07. Spent over 120 hours on it. And seriously, you do know Fallout 3 is basically a post-apocalypse skinned version of Oblivion, right?
