Oh yes, Heavy Rain is a highly recommended PS3 exclusive that you just can NOT afford to miss! Take my word for it.
Plus, if you have the PlayStation Move and Navigation controller, that will make the game tht much more fun and immersive.
So, do make sure you give it a go. Even if that requires renting the game for cheap.
Just so that you know, Heavy Rain was one reason why I got the PS3, and my decision was justified I realized soon after I played the game.

They introduce unwanted artifacts to HD content, which is probably why you feel the picture is losing detail with the options turned On.
Not only Uncharted 3, keep both these options Off when playing all HD games. It also helps with the HDTV input delay.
These options are basically there to enhance low-res SD content. You should keep them Off when viewing or playing anything in HD/Full HD.
