Smart cricket and team selection is all you need to take down this Indian side. Although Pakistan has surprisingly shown actual planning and tactics in the field since the first match with India, the sheer pressure of the match is likely to have them making stupid and conservative decisions again. Oval is a batting paradise and if India is batting first, only a Hasan Ali miracle can stop them from making 300+. You just CAN'T stick with batsmen like Azhar Ali at the top in such a match. A key factor in our turnaround has been the injury of Wahab Riaz, which is no less than a blessing, and the selection of Fakhar Zaman over Ahmed Shehzad. The same bold decision needs to be made and Azhar Ali needs to be dropped.
Also, Oval won't provide any help to spinners and India bash spinners for a living anyway. Imad Wasim has been a liability with the bat and you can expect nothing from him with the bowl against India either. Faheem Ashraf MUST be selected over him, both because we need pace and a hitter down the order. I would go for a five-pronged pace attack of Amir, Ali, Raees, Junaid, and Faheem. But I doubt any of this is going to happen. I just don't understand the point of defensive playing and planning for a team that has already lost everything there is to lose. We have nothing at all to defend. It makes more sense for India to be defensive as they have a lot more at stake than us. But you won't see any hint of defensive play from them. Pakistan has no cause for a fear of defeat and that calls for attacking cricket in every aspect of the game. And that's exactly where I suspect we will fail and lose the match with it.
Believe it or not, this Indian team can be beaten today by our current modest-looking squad. The cards are in our hands. The only thing that stands between Pakistan and victory is Pakistan itself, and that is a tougher challenge than India, unfortunately.
