That's why i gave my own definition of button mashing so there are no confusions to what i am referring to. Button mashing isn't in the dictionary so everyone has to go with their own interpretation. I am referring to the art of button mashing as in just pushing single buttons fast not looking to pull off a combo. I won't even give any arbitrary examples, here's a REAL example at the PG meet up

A guy touching the PS3 controller for the first time and playing tekken for the first time beats a regular decent player Desolator. That can never happen in Street Fighter. No offense to anyone but most of the people who voted Tekken would also pick NFS as their favorite racing game i.e an easy 'casual' game with very little depth.
Eddy is a good character to beat single player mode, Howrang/Bryan Fury are better when playing with other dudes. But i am sure everyone has their own favorite tekken button masher as there are so many in that game another one i remember is christie.
This is how i would say the two games are
Street Fighter- A game where you HAVE to learn combos and learn the small details about the character you want to master with. Throwing kicks won't win you matches in Street Fighter.
Tekken- An easy approachable fighting game for the masses, lacks in depth due to high damage and fast repeatability of simple kicks and punches which render learning the slow combos useless.
