Man, my inner Battlefront 2 fan is screaming with joy.

I WANNA PLAY THIS NAOW!!

Great thing about DICE, they know how to do sound effects. That special grenade in particular sounds awesome.

This fucking nickel 'n' dime strategy of EA is why I will never bother with their games ever again

BF4 was the last straw they pulled. They ain't gonna get my money ever again.

Game looks really nice, albeit in a much smaller scale compared to Battlefront 2. I really hope the heroes are as fun and to control and as OP as they were in BF2.

So thats the reason you'll buy it...
great reading comprehension there. He was just praising the sound effects.

[h=2]Star Wars Battlefront closed alpha coming to PC, EA sending out invites[/h]

Star Wars Battlefront developer EA DICE is launching closed alpha testing of the game on Windows PC, and the company has begun sending out alpha invites, according to an email from EA that was forwarded to Polygon.
The Battlefront alpha will be available only through EA's Origin service on PC. "The purpose of the Star Wars Battlefront Closed Alpha is to perform a number of technical tests that will help the team at DICE as they continue the development of the game," reads the email from EA.

The email is an invitation to apply for the alpha. It notes that applying doesn't guarantee entry because "space in the Closed Alpha is very limited and we may not be able to accept all players who apply."
EA listed the following minimum system requirements for the alpha, and said that they apply only to the alpha, not the final Battlefront game:

  • CPU: Quad Core CPU e.g. Intel Core i5-2300 @ 2.8 GHz or AMD Phenom II x4 955 @ 3.2 GHz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz
  • RAM: 6 GB
  • OS: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8/8.1 (64-bit operating system required)
  • Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 or AMD Radeon HD 7970 with 2 GB of Video Memory
The company also warns in the email that the alpha "does not represent final quality of the game." EA continues, "Performance at this stage of development may be inconsistent, with possible issues such as server lag and downtime." The email adds that characters and progress made in the alpha will not transfer to the full game.
Interested parties may apply for alpha access on the Star Wars Battlefront website. EA will be taking applications until 1:59 a.m. Central European Summer Time on Tuesday, June 30 (7:59 p.m. EDT on Monday, June 29).
[Thanks, Adam]

[h=2]Star Wars Battlefront alpha goes live; Star Wars Battlefront footage leaks[/h]

The Star Wars Battlefront closed alpha went live on PC today and with it came a flood of leaked images and videos.
In the footage above, we see snowtroopers taking on rebels in a battle raging across a massive snowscape. The minimalistic user interface seems to show objectives, a minimap and extra abilities. The battlefield crawls with players and at one point a voice can be heard stating that an enemy bomber has locked onto "our Walker."

Later in the video, the player calls for AT-ST support and a few seconds later spawns inside the All-Terrain Scout Transport.
Star Wars Battlefront is in development by DICE for a November release on the PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
The alpha appears to feature the two modes and maps shown off at E3: a cooperative Tattooine map and a massive 40-player battle on Hoth featuring a Walker assault.

[h=2]Star Wars Battlefront gets its own team deathmatch with Blast mode[/h]

The developers behind Star Wars Battlefront squeezed out a bit more news today, detailing another mode in the upcoming Star Wars shooter.
Blast mode will be a ten-on-ten team deathmatch with a 100-kill or 10-minute limit, whichever comes first.

The mode will pit Rebel versus Imperial factions across a variety of maps, according to the announcement post on the official site for the game.
"One battle you'll be fighting within interior levels on Endor or Sullust," writes lead level designer Dennis Brännvall. "In the next battle, you might find yourselves among Tatooine's dusty canyons, or inside the undeniably cool Ice Caves on Hoth. My favorite is the verticality of Tatooine, fighting by the Sandcrawler."
The maps will all be smaller, close-quarters maps to help keep the kills coming and burn through that counter.
Star Wars Battlefront hits November 17.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
