Sony PlayStation 5 : Play Has No Limits

PS5 Release Date, PS5 Games, PS5 Power vs Xbox One X, PS5 Price Speculation - All the PS5 Info lets discuss

Here are all the rumors and speculation surrounding the PS5, including a potential PS5 release date, power, and launch games of Sony's inevitable PS5. Is the PS5 releasing in 2019?

What we Want From the PS5 Speculation aside, what would we ideally want from the PS5? Backwards compatibility for PS4 games would be brilliant, simply because you'd be able to carry over classics like the Shadow of the Colossus remake to the next console generation. We've seen how well Microsoft is handling backwards compatibility with its Xbox One consoles (including getting amazing results updating Xbox 360 games to run in 4K on Xbox One X), and something similar on PS5 would be great.

In terms of pure power, the PlayStation 5 has to significantly exceed the power of the Xbox One X. This means featuring more games running in 4K at 60FPS. If the PS5 can deliver about 10 TF of power we'd be happy, as this would allow devs to create games that look a generation ahead of what we've got now.

But what would the dream launch lineup be for the PS5? Death Stranding and The Last of Us: Part 2 are hugely anticipated blockbuster games, with the former especially looking to push the performance of whatever system it's on to the very limit. We've also mentioned Ghost of Tsushima and a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, and the latter would be the perfect way to kick off a new console cycle from Sony.

I'm very confident going forward we will be having minimal load times thanks to consoles finally adapting SSD based mass storage. This will have huge implications, and will fundamentally change how developers load assets in a game. In near future, gaming on HDD will become downright impossible and that's a good thing. HDDs will finally become obselete.

A fast travel load time on an NVMe SSD in Witcher 3 is like ~3 secs whereas it takes anywhere between 30-50 secs on consoles with the best case being using an SSD on enhanced machines. Games already have minimal load times on fast SSDs but consoles finally catching up after a decade is a good thing for the industry.

Indeed. Asset streaming will see a major boost across the board, especially in open world games. As a result, the speed of traversal won't have to be held back artificially in order to facilitate slower loading of assets. This is currently an issue in games, even when running on an SSD on PC, as games simply aren't built around such hardware spec as a standard.

This artist on Behance had the right idea behind the actual design of Series X with his sketches.

What are the chances Sony follows the same design language? These consoles are suppose to be high specced and demand an efficient cooling system which explains why Microsoft didn't force the typical horizontal flat top box design this time around. PS4 Pro is known for being notoriously loud as is so a more spacious design makes sense.

Owing to their Japanese heritage, I think Sony will stick to a more traditional flatter design.

The Japanese aren't exactly keen on reinventing a lot.

Pretty much. And plus we've already seen what the devkit looks like. There's really no reason to believe they'll follow MS' approach.

If the Pro and One X are any indication, and now the SeX, Microsoft has been way better in designing hardware, horizontal or vertical. Perhaps it wouldn't hurt Sony to try something new now

[h=1]Sony has a patent for a new PlayStation controller[/h]

The controller patent features two new buttons

Image

On Dec. 26, Sony was approved for a patent on a new type of PlayStation controller. The patent is on the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) database, but it isn’t quite clear what Sony intends to do with the controller.
The design itself is similar to the familiar DualShock 4 design that most players are used to with the PlayStation 4. The new controller has the same layout for its face buttons, directional pad, and analog sticks. The only real departure on the front of the controller is that there’s no PlayStation button visible on the patent design.
The back of the controller is where things get a little more interesting. The patent contains potential designs for the new controller — though they aren’t final — that include two new buttons. The new buttons appear to be programmable to perform the functions of other buttons on the controller, so you could have them do the same thing as the circle or square buttons if you wanted.

Image: Sony via WIPOThe two back buttons can be activated with triggers in most of the proposed designs. While they seem to be located directly behind the analog sticks on most of the proposed layouts in the patent, there is mention that they might move to other places. This could mean that the controller is customizable, or just that Sony wants to cover its bases for possible design iterations.
While this new patent’s timing is a little conspicuous considering the PlayStation 5 is set to come out in 2020, there is no indication which PlayStation this controller is actually designed for. It’s worth noting that the proposed design does feature a micro-USB port on the top of the controller, the same as the DualShock 4, while the PlayStation 5 controller is supposed to have a USB-C port instead, so it’s possible this is an iteration of the older controller.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
