Slow Internet Speed in Pakistan due to SMW4 planned Maintenance Activity‏‏

Internet customers in Pakistan will be experiencing degradation in Internet services provided by most of the ISPs ( Micro Net Broadband, PTCL Braodband, Wateen, Wi-tribe, Etc ) as one of their backbone service provider ITI, PTCL’s link from SMW-4 will undergo a planned maintenance activity to repair the submarine cable fault in Segment 4.1. This activity will commence at 1200 PST on 24th April 2010 (Saturday) and will continue for 3-4 days.
Following is the E-mail from Miro Net Broad Band to its customers.

Dear Valued Customer:

Kindly note that all MBL customers will be experiencing
degradation in Internet services provided by MBL as one
of our backbone service provider ITI, PTCL’s link from
SMW-4 will undergo a planned maintenance activity
to repair the submarine cable fault in Segment 4.1.
This activity will commence at 1200 PST on 24th April
2010 (Saturday) and will continue for 3-4 days.

MBL is in constant contact with ITI, PTCL for exact
time lines and will update our customers accordingly.

MBL apologizes for any inconvenience that you may
suffer due to this activity. Your patience will be
deeply appreciated.

Nope this time i guess they are likely to remove fault in four days...cuz SEA-ME-WE 4 is connected to
(Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Italy, Tunisia, Algeria and France)

I haven't noticed any slowdown in the download/general browsing so far .. but I can't seem to run streaming media for shiz... i'm forced to download all youtube/giantbomb videos (which download at full speed) because the streaming speeds SUCK.

Since this morning, I've been experiencing increased latency and a little lag in the online games I play on European servers. On the other hand, my ping and download speed to Pakistan servers (as tested by speedtest.net and pingtest.net) is normal. This malfunctioning cable is the reason, right? I hope it gets fixed as per schedule.

Every time something goes wrong with a submarine internet cable, I get paranoid that my internet will stay laggy and slow forever
