1.So tell me....does fulbright scholarship or any other for that matter, fund Bachelors Program too?
Nope, only Masters, PhD, and MBA as far as I know ... No bachelor level programs ..
2.What is the procedure to apply, is there a test to be given? Or is almost everybody eligible?
First step is to fill out an extremely lengthy form ... The form itself is 30 or so pages long, as will ask things which you'll take a while to find answers for ... Then, you also need to write two
extremely top quality essays in it, based on which foreign universities will decide whether to give out admission or not ... These essays are called 'Statement of Purpose' (about what you want to do in your life), and 'Study Research Objectives' (a little bit specific on what you want to study and why) .... You also need to give the GRE and TOEFL tests and hand in their results which this application (although, they might allow you to send these in later on, which I did in my case) ... Then after that, for a month or two you dont do anything, after which you *might* get a call for an interview ... The interview will be with the USEF Pakistan staff, which will have a US delegate in it as well ... The interview will be about you in general, about your future goals, etc ... If you clear this as well, then they will finally make a decision, and then inform you through email .... If you are selected as a Fulbright Candidate (Congratulations!
), then the next procedure starts, for getting you university admissions ... This doesn't really require anything from you as Fulbright handles everything on your behalf, and informs you where you have been accepted or not ..
3.I heave heard that pakistan's scholarships arent all that reliable. Like...sometimes they might stop funding you even though youre not done with your degree? What do you have to say about this?
You are right ... Pakistani (i.e. HEC) scholarships are not 100% reliable as people are called back, but Fulbright Masters scholarship is completely funded by US, and there are absolutely NO money problems !
... Fulbright PhD is different .. US only pays for the first two years during which you might do Masters, and HEC pays for the remaining 2 or 3 years ... But there are no funding problems here as well, because HEC is required to pay ALL your 2-3 years funds to Fulbright in advance, and HEC can't take this money back ...
4.Lastly....are you given money for staying, food, clothing, outings and stuff too. And your academics were entirely free, right? How much did you exactly have to spend by yourself?
Your funding to your university is handled by Fulbright directly, and you dont need to do anything for this .. For your own spending money, you get a monthly stipend of money .. Its not much, but enough for a single person to live is a good manner ... The amount of stipend is dependent on where in the US you go .. I got $1345 per month in Atlanta, GA ... You're also given extra $500 at the start of each semester for books, and you're given $1000 for a laptop, or other electronic equipment as well ... Lastly, you're also given one return air ticket to Pakistan, after staying two years in the US ..
