hi

im using rampage II extreme mobo
today i changed the proc from i7 920 to 950
intially pc was booting n screen was blank then i pressed cmos for a while n nw all buttons on mobo are lighting up but the pc is not booting at all no matter how many times i press the start button.poster lcd shows INIT CPU message

plz help me with this

hey, i bought antec six hundred se and 500 watt earth power, for 9k frm galaxy, ( normal price is 6000+3800)
but i can not find six hundred se on antec website, its only six hundred, and its normal price is 7800.

Alright, sunny's got me a bit concerned about my PC's power ratings. Since I'm at work, I thought it'd be better to discuss this before I head home and install my new GPU.

So I had an Ati4890 (190 watts) and everything's normal so far.
Now I'm about to replace it with a GTX470 (215 watts) that's 25 watts more load on the rig.

Here's my PSU ratings:

So am I good?

^ I won't recommend anybody to run such a setup with this PSU. Your system is pushing this PSU to its limits and even if it is able to run this system without any visible issues, it is still not wise to do it for longer term as using PSU at its maximum capacity for longer periods can lead to many issues.

Driving a bike on one wheel does not mean that you will certainly get hurt. But chances of that happening are certainly much higher compared to driving a car. It's not that your PSU will certainly blow up, but chances of that happening have certainly increased now. So even if your PC is working right now, don't push your luck

yeah use the software mentioned by hassan
moreove before buying the power supply keep one thing in your mind that don't look at the watt of the power supply i.e 650watt or 750w always check the rating of +12v rail and its maximum output
and for you a psu with 40a is enough

Easiest method is to divide total watts on +12v rail(s) by 12. Most of the Power Supplies list total wattage on their +12v rail(s). That particular 550W ASUS has 360Watts listed on it's three +12v rails. That is only 30Amperes.
I will agree with Nomad that a PSU with only 30A is inadequate for Shyber's PC specs and he is pushing his luck.
