PTCL 256K upgraded to 512K!

Alrite guys PTCL upgraded my 256K to 512K....i received no sms/email...but this morning when i started my downloads from rapidshare instead of 25-30 KB/sec downloads im getting 50-55 KB/sec.

yuppieeee....earlier i thought it would be done by march 15 by im really happy it came early.... as im a big movie n tv series buff.....downloading JUMPER movie.....next up Prison Break Season 3.

Youtube streaming much faster infact no more mid playback buffering anymore....

70KB stream is simply not possible on 512! you can't even get 64KB practically!

70 X 8 == 560 which is > 512 so not possible

512K .. avg. is 53kbps here.

30 dlds from rapidshare, all had same speed of 52-53.

i concur with Ahsan.... i dont use torrents at all always use rapidshare for my download needs and its usually btw 50-55......though i dun see any big difference on xboxlive downloads OR gameplay......but then again download speeds and latency are two diff things.

@maanu: I have heard that PTCL are upgrading old 256k account and the newer accounts will take time, how long u r using ptcl dsl? i have started on 28th of jan.

what speeds do you guys get on torrents on a 512kbps connection...........and does it ever go up more than 55kbps?????i have cable net and i pay 800 per month for it but now he has blocked p2p so i am getting ptcl particularly for torrents.........and how is their service???worth getting or not???

^ yes on torrents you can get 55KB+ using PTCL though it depends on the torrent quality. my friends and I get the maximum speed (59KB-45KB average) on 512Kbps and 110KB - 80KB average on 1MBbps
