^ have u tried the new multiman...it has a very neat feature of running the last played game directly from the xmb..its very neat...

haven't tried it, coz gaia is working fine for me, didn't feel any need to try new multiman...

ok so my slim is back to its normal self ! not hacked etc still on 3.41fw ! so please can nyone give me step by step tutorial on how to hack it to 3.55cfw !!thanks

also my last success with hack lead to several hard resets and than freezes in game and than my hdd got corrupted ! tho it got corrupted i fixed it thru the recovery menu and than the ps3 became unhacked and all stuff gone etc u know

but now my hdd is giving me problems :S copied a 720p movie and it copied all but wont play :S properly jams and stuff like the hdd is jamming etc ! i sure hope my hdd hasnt crashed or something what to do ! anyone else experienced this ? got it from uk im sure sending it back would fix this coz its definately in warranty but sending it back is the problem ! too much hassle HELP

@mani..ur system sounds pretty messed up...dont know about the problem with the hd movie.. but in order to do the cfw its all pretty easy, download ofw 3.55, and a copy of the ofw patched with ur choice of cfw,,mine is wutangraza and its running fine..the detailed tutorial can be found on ps3-hacks.com..all very easy and very smooth...i also lost alot of data but now my cfw is running fine and i am also playing hd movies that run without a hitch...

if you take my suggestion:
the idea is simple just take out ur HDD put it in any laptop via USB connection ( if u cant open the laptop ) format it, use scan on it, take it out and put it back in ps3 i am 100% it will work, sometime ur celendrical values gets messed up in HDD and it start giving you error while reading path values.

I hope it will work for ya else its much better and easier than sending ur HDD back to UK.

NOPE : it does hard reset but it wont put Ps3 into service mode, correct me if I got u right.

it just shut down your ps3 and when you turn it on, it simply comes to the main screen...a guy told me if your ps3 hangs, do this, coz this is normal shut down.. it seems more link a forced shutdown...

Actually, in 30 seconds, I believe you'll get the second set of beeps, two consecutive short beeps, and if you immediately let go the power button, it'll enter recovery mode. For a 'forced shutdown' (calling it that for convenience' sake, although it's a proper shutdown) you just need to hold it down for 2-3 seconds, the power led would start flashing and then turn red. I'm not sure about the 'hard reset' option. Maybe someone can guide me....

yeh everything is so damn confusing i want to hack my ps3 but i am scared i might do something wrong and brick it we need an easy/newbie guide!!!

Three simple steps to hack your ps3

1- Update to OFW 3.55 ....
2-Update to CFW ..... http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XY225WKE
3- Backup manager (Gaia or Multiman) ... http://www.ps3-hacks.com/file/265

FIRMWARE INSTALLATION
1- To install firmware, in a usb create a folder named "PS3" and inside this folder create another folder named "UPDATE".

2- Place the firmware file in this folder ( Note: file name must always be ps3updat.pup, whether it's OFW or CFW. If file name is different, change it to ps3updat.pup)

3- Connect usb with ps3 and go to system update, there ps3 will ask you to update via internet or storage media, select storage media.

4- Ps3 will detect your firmware and will ask for you permission to install, say yes .. That's all...

Both OFW and CFW will be installed in the same manner...

After OFW ---> CFW, back up manager should be installed.

BACKUP MANAGER INSTALLATION

1- To install back up manager, download backup manager above mentioned link

2-Place back up manager file in a usb. (File name usually is like
"abcmanager.pkg").

3- Connect usb with ps3, under game menu, go to install package file and select backup manager file. It will hardly take few seconds to install back up manager.

Hope this is informative... I followed the same procedure and enjoying latest games

well if u want to go in recovery mode do this

first see ur ps3 is showing the bright red light
than turn ur main power switch off !
after that turn it back on and press ur power button and keep it press and u will hear a beep ! than keep it pressed until it shutsdown again after a beep !
after that once again keep it pressed and u will hear a beep after 5 or so seconds and than after a further 2-3 seconds ull hear 2 beep sounds after that let off the power button and ull be in the recovery menu

It's not necessary to install via recovery mode, i did it without going to recovery mode and it worked flawlessly.
