Problem with a Masjid loud speakers

Hi Guys,

Need some good advice on approaching a serious problem.

The Mosque near my house (2 houses away) has REALLY LOUD speakers. I hate to say this but its so loud that it pinches the ears. To top it all, the Adhaan given at the mosque isn't the nice ones I am used to hearing in the Middle East. This Molvi could learn some qirat lol...

An Adhaan is suppose to invite you to prayers, it has a very unique and inviting sound to it, something you would like to stop and listen to and then go for prayers. This however is just EXTREMELY loud noise with bad highs and lows in qirat :(

I'd like to approach the mosque and ask them to lower down the speakers but I am afraid they will throw all kind of blasphemy laws and hate crime on me. I tried sealing windows but to no avail... it's still very very loud....

Any suggestions on what to do?

Have some influential/ responsible adults in the area talk it out with the Masjid Administration.

Make sure those people are regular at the Masjid so they can have a say in the matter.

Talk sensibly about the quality of sound... Tell them the speakers are not working fine and its difficult to make out the words of azan. they might take that into consideration..

This.
Simple up front talking should fix the issue.

Taking a blunt approach in the matter won't be a good idea. One must be considerate and convey his concerns in a respectable manner.
Don't worry about being labeled blasphemous or ending up a victim of hate crime. Talk to the masjid committee.

I'm pretty sure you're just stuck with it. If you try talking to anyone they'll simply see you as a blasphemer. They will say the louder the better since it reaches far and wide and I'm just sure, considering the narrow mindedness of people they will simply lash out at you.

When I was a kid, I faced the same problem. I took out my Drangnov Airgun, went to a field, shoot twice the loud speakers. It did got quite, but 2 molvi and around 16 student ran after me. Well I did got saved by my parents but they punish me later :(

Now in Islamabad, there's a Ahle-hadith masjid right next to my house. They start tarawi at 10pm and continue till 1am, with loud speaker at its full volume. I don't want to repeat what I did b4 and ashamed of it. But I will gather the elders from the neighbor hood and consult this problem if it arose again this Ramazan.

I faced a similar situation except that my house was RIGHT next to the masjid. It was all good until they installed these insanely loud and low quality speakers. But thankfully we were due to shift in the following months anyways and its no longer a problem now :)

Hmm - I like the suggestions that some of you have brought up...

I should've made this clear before - I am an Ahmadi so you can be well aware how many blasphemy laws are cooked up for us lol! Going up to them would mean walking into a death trap. The mosque and the neighbors are well aware of us. They don't bother us but the molvis from the mosque give us a sinister look every time they pass the house. The neighbors however are cool - most of us mind our own business... and they have a rational way of thinking so we are respected by them.

I spoke to my neighbor who runs a clinic with mentally ill patients. Poor guy also shook his head and said that he wish he could do something about it. His patients have problems dealing with it.

Sadly no one has the guts to go up to the mosque and talk to the Imaam.

I have an airgun that I thought I should use but it would barely do anything to these really big speakers lol. The idea to tell them its not clear is good - I'm just afraid they would make it louder or get more speakers or something lol!

.. why is approaching anything related to religion in this country such a dangerous topic :(

Patience khatum and insecurity barh chuki hai awaam ki and religious awaam ki.

Religious awaam like molvis of the area and such look down upon the normal awaam like they are some kind of evil walking on their turf. (From what I've experienced)

Even though Islam preaches to be patient and always listen to everything with a cool head, it is sometimes sad to see those who lead the prayers often not acting on the path they are inviting others to follow.

Violent acts like shooting the speakers with an airgun or any gun for that matter won't solve the issue, it's better to approach the Imam or a committee and ask them to do something about it.

You can also suggest them to put up donations or even you can set up donations to buy better loudspeakers and donate them to the masjid.

Karach!
They've installed brand new quality speakers near my house, by god, the sound is so loud that if a graveyard was nearby, even the dead would comeout from their graves.

Considering ur situation i strongly urge u to just buy a pair of ear plugs and ignore it
Seriously anything can happen seeing the tolerance level of our awam with matters concerning religion
