Hello all!

If anyone has any advice, recommendations, or experience with this it would be very much appreciated!

I recently upgraded my graphics card from Gigabyte 6850 (1 GB) to Gigabyte 7850 (2 GB – New bought yesterday in 2 year warranty) which was running perfectly in my PC.

So the problem starts from installing CCC (or only driver set). I'm getting Blank screen when I reach the Windows Login Screen after 1[SUP]st[/SUP] boot of CCC or only driver installation. My system gets halted in blank screen state after few seconds from Windows loading logo and I have to restart it manually. I have tried different drivers specifically from Gigabyte website and fro its original cd but the problem persist. I have also seen BSOD error couple of time but I can’t read the msg as it disappears after quick session. Every time I have to go in SAFE MODE to Device Manager and uninstall my Radeon 7800 Drivers to make computer stable.

I can get to windows just fine without any drivers. The “Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" drivers enables me to set resolutionsomething like 1366 X ___ ( sorry I don’t remember yet ) but cant find the information in Dxdiag . Only MSI Kombustor detect 7850 in info. & nothing more.

I've tried:

Windows Memory Test - No Errors Found
Removed each and every GPU related softwares & drivers including MSI Kompuster , CCC afterburner , Gigabyte GURU and then install only driver locating from device manger .

System specs:
Gigabyte 7850 2GB OC 3.0
MSI – 970A G - 46
AMD Phenom II X4 965 ( @ 3.4 Ghz stock speed )
Hyper 212 with TWO High RPM 120 mm fans ( Push And Pull )
Kingston Hyper X ( Red Edition ) @ 1600 Mhz
Windows 7 64 BIT Ultimate
Samsung P 2370 ( 23 Inch ) 1920x1080 LCD Monitor

PSU : HIPRO 700 Watt

A bit of searching around the internet has shown that there are a few others with similar problems, some only getting some of the errors, others getting them all + bsods.

I believe that it is software / driver related issue and returning the card will be my last option, If anyone has any advice, recommendations, or experience with this it would be very much appreciated! You may text your cell no so that I will call you back and discuss the matter in detail.

Regards ,

Check with another PCIE power connector
Boot in safe mod, remove AMD drivers completely with Drivers Cleaner or similar utility, Boot and install drivers
Update your mb. bios, if you know how to do it
Re-install Windows

OR Check the GPU on another capable PC if available, thats the fatest way to know whether the GPU is faulty or there are some other issues related to software or compatibility issues with your PC

Read and follow what Voodoo has advised herein above.

Beside, the quickest option is to check your GPU on an other system equipped with a good power supply. In case you reinstall the windows, use a different disk / CD instead of the one you are already in possession of. There might be a conflict between windows and AMD driver just because of one little file and a different windows might go through it.

Also try a little older version of AMD driver instead of the latest one.

This might sound idiotic but did you try replugging the card? Improperly connected gfx card could cause the above.

I have tried few more things but none of the method worked

1. Install card in other slot.

2. Change the power cord of GPU.

3. Tried different ccc and standalone drivers . Even use Driver Sweeper prior to each installation.

4. I have failed to update my MOBO driver (i.e MSI - 970A - G - 46 ). I have carefully perform all the steps as mention in SOP but in the last step after reboot I have got the message BOOTMGR is missing. Thanks God! I still have my old BIOS in working condition and I have check the boot order priority set to USB. The MSI utility have successfully store the updated BIOS in PEN USB DRIVE but I don’t know y BIOS was unable to perform operation from USB. Please help if any one has experience in updating BIOS of MSI board under windows 7 Pro. (64)

Now I will check two more things before returning this card to the supplier .

1. Will check it on another PC.

2. I will install Win8 and see if it helps.

Yes if it is still under warranty just go and get it checked, best and fastest way to find out if the prob is with the card.

Actually i have this giagabyte 7850 OC 2gb for an year i guess..... and so far i have never experienced a single BSOD...... Thank GOD...
Post a gpu-z screen shot, here's mine

Actually the BSOD problem was frequent when it was launched but after a few months it stopped if i remember correctly....

Also check the temps of the gpu at load and at idle...... Very high temp can also cause sys failure/blue screen
Moreover it can also be because of an unstable gpu overclock so install msi afterburner or easyboost ( gigabyte) whatever and lower the clock speed...

I have checked this card with Windows 8 (Fresh install and in another partition). Everything goes fine during installation but when it comes to first login screen, again the same problem occurs i.e. screen goes blank (with minute change in black color) and system get halted . I have repeated Win8 installation 4 times bcoz booting with safe mode display msg that your Installation was unsuccessful. , rolling back to your previous operating system.

Now I think that there is problem with hardware bcoz this problem only occurs on a specific point ( windows Logon screen ) immediately after installing driver / software.

I m now returning 7850 to the supplier and will update you the status.

Thanks for your support and advices.

Hi...I had a problem with frequent BSOD's using the 4800 series on Win 7. I disabled sleep and all was normal. Try it, it might work!

did you try setting up Google Payments? For UBL you may have to get it enabled for internet transactions, Naya should work without it!

Did y'all see the new Assassin's Creed trailer? They finally made a AC set in Japan & then they put a negro as the male protagonist. Ubisoft is taking cues from Disney, and it isn't gonna end well for them, just like Disney. Go woke, go broke!
