Well, if you ask me, am gonna pick the newer 80GB version which is supposed to replace the 40GB model. That'd be the cheapest retailing PS3 and 80GB ain't that bad.

Guys i'm in switzerland right now & here i can get a 80GB PS3 bundle with two games (GT5 & another game) for Rs.40'000.

who cares about hdd 20 gb is available at a very reasonable price the only thing it dont has the support for ps2 games providing the the games of ps2 should be original.3 original games worth more than 10000k how about buying a ps2 seprately and runing ps2 games on it. What say!

aap ko ya kis na kaha ha k ps3 sirf ameer n rich loog khareedtay han.i think u know abt that k SHOOK DA KOI MUL NAI.if u r willing then get 1.ps3 owners not a rich persons.they only a game lover.
and i think in these days ps3 price round abt 30000 for 40gb modal.

@Amaga you OK ? PS3 is worth Rs.36K these days you will be lucky to get it for Rs.34K but unless yo bargain a bit you can't get less then that . And yeaah PS3 owners aren't rich they are just Hardcore gamers !
@Faisal 20GB is not availables these days and even if it is it will cost Rs.32K at Max

Point is Hamza, the 80GB available here mostly is the older one with BC...AFAIK.
Am pretty sure that Getafix is talking about the newer models that were introduced this year which are just like the 40GB model but with an 80GB HDD and a bundled DS3 instead of SIXAXIS.

No man the one I have seen recently had a Dual Shock 3 bundled with it .But even if it is a newer one then the offer is good because two games would be 6-7K and 40GB PS3 is worth 34K here . So this is a good option !

shyber is talking about Backward Compatibility...the ones in paki *generallly* has them ...but as times passes and newer ps3 enter paki market , they are losing its compatibility! and sixaxis has been replaced by dual shock3

How much is the 40GB PS3 costing in other cities?

I'm planning to buy mine from Imperial Market rawalpindi. The dudes there asked 32k for the 40GB one.

I checked the front page of this thread and the comparision table says 40GB one doesn't support ps2 games, which is a bummer. But I'd like to keep my budget under 35k anyway.

Caz I'll have to shell out 1-2k on the HDMI-to-DVI converter for my 19" Samsung SyncMaster 931BW (i hope its dhcp compliant, googling for this right now),

and I fink i'll have to shell out 3k+ on the first game also.

enlighten me gamers!

Ummm ! Well the offer you are getting is a good one and I think this is what you should do :
Get a 40GB PS3 for 32K but if possible bargain a bit
Get the DVI to HDMi Cable for Rs.800
Get an old game first like Resistance Fall of Man or Uncharted since these are below 3K now and if you wait a bit you can get MGS4 for 3.5K !

I'm still trying to decide whether or not to go for the PS3 (Bro installed GTA IV on my system today and its running fine, and compared to how much i ws anticipating it I still play it casually, so i'm not sure if i'll play any games on this expensive console when I get it :/ even Tekken6 is not out yet (the reason for my PS3))

Well your Rig is cool but there are many awesome titles on PS3 like Metal Gear Solid 4 , Resistance 2 , LittleBigPlanet and many more . These are the reasons one should get a PS3 . And your money will be totally worth it . There are also games like Uncharted 2 , Killzone 2 and GOW3 coming up . Also The PS3 promises a lot of cool features too !!!!
