Space port palace...

Pretty unique setting, though I would've liked some free roam zero G sections rather than just getting tunnels across in a scripted manner.

Spoiler: show
Okumura's the most annoying boss so far. Took me a while to deal with those respawning robots that flee if you don't take 'em out in 2 turns. And the 30 min timer on top of that lol.

Casino palace...

Very cool dungeon that totally fits the game's Sly Cooper-esque theme.

Spoiler: show
Had already sort of figured out Akechi was up to no good, but the shooting at the interrogation room and the events that followed were still pretty shocking.

Yep, OG P5 took me 60~ hours even on lower difficulties
After getting done with the lengthy story stuff that followed the Casino palace, my save file showed over 65 hours of playtime lol. 3 more palaces to go, including the new one added to Royal.

Finally popped this in, probably the best game to mellow down after FF7 lol.
CerebralTiger guessing you've finished or are very far in the game ?

How awesome was Makoto's Persona awakening scene .. and how awesome is the OST in general RIGHT ?

Going to continue my playthrough today. Still somewhere in the early areas of the cruiser palace.

Makoto's badass. They've done a really good job of retrofitting her into the game's story. It never seemed like she wasn't a part of the original. The OST is super chill. Didn't get to play the original, so I can't quite appreciate how many new tracks have been added.

Makoto is Queen, she has always been in the game :p

I think you're talking about the new-waifu whose name I cannot recall right now.

Oh shit, I somehow end up confusing her name with Kasumi's :hah:

Ah yes, the bike persona's awesome. Wish there was a bike chase segment with her and the others in Morganamobile. Or maybe I've played way too much of FFVIIR :p

Speaking of which, in the original, was it possible for Morgana to collide into enemies and insta-kill them instead of entering battle in Mementos? It made the whole randomly generated dungeon thing a lot more fun to explore in Royal.

What is the difference between the earlier version and the Royal one. I have older Persona for like an year now but never played too much. Is the upgrade worth it?

If you've never played OG P5, Royale is the best way to start. Royale is basically a fully reworked version of the game.

- It has 1.5x story content.
- A lot of quality of life and accessibility options to make the daily things and dungeons more manageable.
- A ton of new combat skills/enhancements/moves etc.
- More confidants/social links which flesh out the side stories and characters.
- Actual PS4 Pro enhancements this time unlike the OG version which had none, native 2160p/30 FPS.

Keep in mind OG P5 was a *huge* game in itself, took me approx 50~60 hours. Multiply that by 1.5x and you will have a JRPG which will last you a looong time.

Kasumi is a great addition with probably my favorite All-out-attack art among the cast, but her appearances have been very sporadic so far.

Although genuinely surprised at the sheer amount of new events/areas I'm seeing already.

Also, calling a 'maid service' and having your teacher show up is a visual gag that never gets old because of how awkward it's shown lol.

Okay, so if I sprint into enemies without alerting them, I can insta-kill them even when not in Mementos/Morganamobile? Why did I not know of this before -_-

As much as I'm enjoying the game for it's story, characters, social stuff, dungeon design, exploration, stealth, I'm just not a fan of turn-based combat. It doesn't help that I returned to this game after playing through FVIIR twice, where combat is among the highlights.

That said, I do appreciate that the grappling hook can be used to latch onto enemies and ambush them, making regular encounters more manageable.

I actually just got that ability myself, it comes when you reach Rank 7 with Ryuji's Confidant IIRC.

That ability has been improved and made SUPER OP compared to how it was in P5.

In the base game, you can insta-kill enemies with lower base levels than you, but it would not give you any money/exp.

In Royal they made it so that you will still get the full exp and money ... which makes grinding and running Momentos a freaking breeeeeeeeeeezee !!

Hmm I see. Definitely makes sense for those who want to do a stealth/exploration-only run through main dungeons and avoid combat, except where it's mandatory such as bosses. I'd probably have done this and left Persona capturing for Mementos.

Done with the Cruiser palace. That boss fight was hype. @Chandoo is this where the original ended?

Also, it looks like getting a plat is really easy in Royal. I'm at 80% already with zero effort lol. Might need to go out of the way to max out some of my social stats, though.

No, there was at least 1 big dungeon after that in the base game too, if I think I know which cruiser you're talking about.

Quite possibly the best JRPG of the generation got an equally fantastic updated version. Quality work all 'round Atlus/Sega.

Don't think I'll get the plat unless I start NG+. On the final dungeon and haven't been able to max out all stats.
I was working with platinum in mind from the start following the trophy guide :p

But surprisingly this was one of the easiest platinum I've gotten. The only caveat is the standard JRPG time commitment. The hardest thing was the optional Reaper super boss, almost everything else came naturally during my normal progression.

In general, the QoL improvements and all the new additions peppered through out the game and the new 3rd semester story arc makes this easily the definitive version of Persona 5.

I say easily, because despite all it's improvements .. Persona 4 Golden will never be definitive for me for changing Chie's voice actor.

I somehow managed to max out all my stats during the last semester. The added time makes things easier.

That new final palace boss served as a reminder that I no longer have the patience for turn-based combat lol. I hope Atlus goes the FFVII Remake (or at least Xenoblade) route w.r.t. combat for Persona 6.

A fantastic experience on the whole, though.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
