Recently 2 weeks back, my pc would close down randomly so I took out my Ram and cleaned it with an Rubber(eraser) and the problem stop right away. Now two weeks later i'm facing the same problem just like before. Now i can't even go the windows logo screen as it is closing before it. I've tried using 1 Ram stick at a time but it isn't helping. Should i just go ahead and buy new ram or is it a problem with my motherboard.
My Specs:
Core i5 2500k
Asus h61 mobo
Gtx 960 4gb
4gb Ram Kingston
4gb Ram corsair value select
Seagate 1TB HDD
I had an H61 motherboard which had a similar problem. Mine used to restart at random times, sometimes within minutes and sometime couldn't even login to windows. It turned out my motherboard was faulty so I sent it to Asus to claim warranty.
After two more years of use, same issue resurfaced but now warranty was over so I got a new board.
If you have a friend, try his RAM and Power supply. That should narrow issue down to motherboard and processor. If possible also try his processor. If problem persists you will know it's the motherboard.
Once problem part is found, proceed accordingly.
P.S. you can also take your system to a good computer shop if you can't manage to arrange spare components for checking, although they May charge a fee.
