Brilliant. I always say that there are two type of worlds. One is Fake world (built and stands on towers made of technology) and other is real world..End greater socialism (internet) to achieve greatness in lesser socialism, which is actually Real and bigger than fake one.!! In simple worlds disconnect yourself from the internet to connect to the human world.

An interesting share, that.

It really comes down to the individual, I believe. While some people would deliberately disguise their inner self, others would make no intentional effort to fake themselves and present themselves as truly as reasonably possible. Undoubtedly, that's a rare breed of people these days.

The basic principle of integrity holds true in this case in the sense that technology is there for the benefit of most. Now its upto the individual to decide how effectively he/she will utilize the means and modes on offer.

Great share. I guess it is true to some extent. It's not really possible to form a real and intimate connection with people through the internet the way you can with people you know in real life and interact with directly. I guess the problem is that the real life relationships are tougher to form and maintain. And I agree that people really are more obsessed with their status and image these days than anything else.

I'm gonna share this on FB and see what people i know IRL think.

agreed to the fake world thing but not with disconnecting from internet i spend my whole day in my room playing games,studies,songs and movies and if im disconnected to the internet there is no place for me to go coz its not neccesary that everyone has someone to talk to some people dont have any friends and have bigger issues than g/f and b/f breaking up things.just sharing my experience no offense.

this is so very true for western societies..every young person is staring at a screen. On a bus, with a friend, eating out, going places, etc...but for in society with lack of 3G, truly high speed internet, our awesome govt. policies, our controlling parents, mobile snatching and our-most-fav load-shedding, this thing is not that prevalent..

one more thing...70% of my social skills I got from playing street cricket, which is on the down low these days

If technology were as advanced fifteen centuries ago as it is now, I doubt the people of that age would've been any different. It's only more conspicuous now owing to technology.

^^Of course. I never said that the two trends i.e ( Advancment in tech + The Birth of social networking and endless self promotion on said networks) were mutualy exclusive.

It's a fantastic video though. "We've traded conversation for mere connection" Perfectly sums up the whole issue in a single line. Social networks are great for maintaining contact with people you know intimately from a great distance and they can aso provide oppurtunities for you to make more connections of that nature but it all depends on how you use it.

Great video. It is good that these kind of issues are not present here to the extent of their presence in the western/developed world, for now atleast. But the growing trend will make more situations like that here too.

I got in similar situation once and after getting rid of my social accounts now i feel more comfortable in life however if your siblings or friends are abroad than all these things make sense but facebooking with your friends who meet u everyday is beyond my comprehension.

Let me introduce you to Mr X. Mr X is a lonely guy who lost his parents when he was very little. Brought up in depreviation of the most basic human needs. He was neglected by the rest of his family and nobody officially adopted him. He spent his life here and there, watching his cousins growing up in an awesome environment. While he was miserable. He contracted few psychological disorders over time. Time passed and he became an adult. Social media was his only outlet of emotions. Maybe even temporary but it finally gave him the idea of what it feels like to have a mother, a borother and a sister. Those virtual family members may not be there for him to see and meet. But he is thankful to this social media for giving him something to cherish whereas when God was being a sadistic asshole who took erything away from him. Mr X thinks social media isnt that bad after all.
