A leaked IGN News video, published by AOL.com Video ahead of tonight’s official announcement, reveals Tekken 7 will be powered by Unreal Engine 4 and launch for current gen consoles.
“With Unreal Engine 4, we can rapidly achieve the visual quality expected on next-gen platforms and go beyond it,” Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada is quoted as saying in the video. “Not only is Unreal Engine 4 powerful and easy to use, but it allows us to easily bring Tekken 7 to any platform we desire.”
Further details were not announced.

Hopefully the series will have more gameplay changes this time around than just visuals. It has pretty much been the same game til now since Tekken 5 era, only with minor tweaks.

The bound system introduced in Tekken 6 was a significant addition that changed how you played the game. Tekken 7 is likely to introduce a similar new mechanic.

Bound system was present in Tekken 5 to some extent. It wasn't an entirely new change in Tekken 6 which made longer combos easier to chain together than ever before. It was as bad as the introduction of walls in Tekken 4 imo.

A few characters had moves with bound-like properties, but chains did not rely on them in the manner that they do post-Tekken 6. You could get by without using such moves in earlier Tekkens, but to not use them effectively in Tekken 6 and onwards puts you at a massive disadvantage. It's a game changer that alters the flow of matches. Multiple moves with bound properties are now present in every character's arsenal.

Walls in Tekken 4 were "game changing" too. That in itself isn't necessarily a plus point. I liked it better how it was in Tekken 5. They need to tone that shit down. Its way overdone. One little mistake and a juggle starter could lead into lengthy combos and potentially take away half of your health. Just like players could abuse the shit out of the wall system in T4 with ease. Its just that executing combos takes a little more skill but its essentially puts the victim in the same disadvantage.

Walls and stages with uneven surfaces resulted in circumstantial advantages that took away the element of skill in Tekken 4.

While the bound system did lead to the "first person to land a juggle wins" kind of gameplay, it doesn't take away the element of skill like the walls and uneven stages did. Performing a lengthy juggle with well-placed bound moves is not an easy feat. And the opponent still has an opportunity to make a comeback, provided he knows how to use bound moves just as effectively during juggles.

Tekken 7 announced, powered by Unreal Engine 4

Tekken 7, the first numbered new game released in the series since 2007, was unveiled this evening during the culmination of the Evolution Championship Series fighting game tournament in Las Vegas.
Bandai Namco said that Tekken 7 will be powered by Unreal Engine 4. While the company did not announce a release date or what platforms the fighting game will be coming to, the game's debut trailer indicates an arcade release.

"The power and flexibility means that we can focus our efforts on making Tekken 7 the best possible game without worrying about spending time creating a stand-alone graphic engine," said Katsuhiro Harada, Tekken series executive producer/game director at Bandai Namco, in a prepared statement. "With Unreal Engine 4, we could rapidly achieve visual quality expected on next-gen platform and go beyond it. Not only is Unreal Engine 4 powerful and easy to use, but it allows us to immediately bring Tekken 7 to any platform we desire."

Harada and his team have been working with Epic Games' engine group in Japan to create the game, according to the press release.

"The Tekken franchise is beloved and we couldn't be more excited to be working with the talented team at Bandai Namco," Taka Kawasaki, studio head at Epic Games Japan, said in a prepared statement. "This marriage is perfect — the most powerful engine in gaming along with one of the most enduring brands in fighting games. We have no doubt that these forces coming together will yield fantastic results."
The game was unveiled on the final day of Evo 2014 with a sizzle trailer that features series stalwarts Kazuya and Heihachi. The trailer also promises more details about Tekken 7 at Bandai Namco's fighting game panel at Comic-Con in San Diego on July 25.

Tekken is my most favourite fighting game. I like the announcement and the twist in the story. Final battle? I hope Harada is planning on keeping tekken alive with other non-canon games like TT3 and TekkenxStreet FIghter TKXDOA etc etc. ;)
I also hope this would come on the PC because as far as i know i followed Harada on twitter and he is a big fan of PC gaming, so who knows ;)

[h=2]First Tekken 7 details revealed at Comic-Con[/h]

Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada unveiled first details on his next fighting game, Tekken 7, at a San Diego Comic-Con panel today.

Tekken 7's plot will have a "very detailed background story" and serve as the conclusion of the Mishima clan saga, Harada said through his translator. The game will apparently answer why Heihachi is trying to kill his grandson, why Hiehachi threw Kazuya off of a cliff, who Devil Jin is and other Tekken mysteries.

"We're still formulating the basic gameplay systems and polishing them," Harada said, explaining that he didn't have many details to share about Tekken 7's mechanics. He did say that Tekken 7 will feature one-on-one battles, not team-based battles as in the Tekken Tag series.

Tekken 7 will feature the character designs of seven guest artists, including Mari Shimazaki (Bayonetta), Yusuke Kozaki (Fire Emblem Awakening, No More Heroes), Ninnin (Duel Masters, Cardfight!! Vanguard) and Kenichiro Yoshimura (Max Anarchy/Anarchy Reigns).

Harada also confirmed that Lars from Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion will return, as redesigned by Ninnin.

Director Shinji Aramaki, whose work includes the Appleseed series, Space Pirate Captain Harlock and Halo Legends, is directing Tekken 7's opening pre-rendered cinematic. Aramaki also worked on the animated feature Tekken: Blood Vengeance.

Aramaki was in attendance at the panel and expressed his desire to have characters from Appleseed appear in Tekken 7.

Bandai Namco Games announced Tekken 7 during last month's Evo fighting game tournament in Las Vegas. The game is the first new numbered entry since 2007's Tekken 6. It's being developed with Epic Games' Unreal Engine 4.

Did y'all see the new Assassin's Creed trailer? They finally made a AC set in Japan & then they put a negro as the male protagonist. Ubisoft is taking cues from Disney, and it isn't gonna end well for them, just like Disney. Go woke, go broke!
