This is probably one of the least inspiring remasters, EA did no promotion and just put up an article on their website a few days after the patch had come out.

No wonder it still has the same foibles as before. Issues even the latest core i10's and 3xxx series cards can't fix.

They're not even calling it a remaster, are they?

Atleast on the newer hardware you can push very high frames and VRR makes these foibles a non issue really. Too bad, if there is any decent headroom on the Series X, it goes under utilized due to a frame rate lock.

Yeah, Remaster's probably not the right word, it just swaps out some textures for higher resolution models (which I can't even notice personally) and the performance profile is exactly the same as before.

Based on the video, Series S has the biggest benefit in terms of performance pre-patch to post-patch. PS5 and SX run give or take exactly the same as before.

VRR takes care of the visual side side effects associated with frame rate drops. It does nothing to combat the drop in input response resulting from frame time dips to 33.33ms. You'll still feel the difference 🤷‍♂️

Heard the PC version stutters when entering a new area (likely shader compilation related) and in other random instances (likely I/O related). Guess that makes the Series X and PS5 versions the ones to play 🤷‍♂️
Necrokiller confusing frame rate drops with IO stutters as always 🤣
Went through the VG tech analysis video, and it looks like the gpu is being stressed here by the character interacting with the water. Had it been I/O related, the Series X and S would've exhibited similar drops in performance 🤷‍♂️
"We get occasional hitches as on the PS4 app in cut scenes and occasional gameplay as well. The same applies to Series X and its a bit of a nuisance. They're not exactly typically frame rate drops you'd see from over working the GPU, but possibly to do with background data streaming."

"We have drops related to world streaming. Sadly this hasn't been fixed even on the native PS5 app. The same hitch occurs at the exact same moment."

"[Series X}...the performance mode on the other hand suffers from major traversal hitching similar to PS5"

CerebralTiger continues to have impaired judgement due to his Sony fanboyism and hatred toward PC gaming. Shocking! :ROFLMAO:

Looking at the 60fps performance mode, properly GPU-limited scenarios we saw in the old patch are much improved in the new native app: cutscenes are a good stress-test here, with drops into the low 50fps region we saw previously not running flat-out at 60fps
I/O stutter aside, it looks like the patch has cleaned up whatever performance issues the BC patch had.

At least that's a plus.

I mean, even PS5 exclusive first party games are stuttering. No idea why some people thought this game wouldn't stutter on the new consoles 🤷‍♂️

Playing at 60fps is still a nice free boost since the enhanced consoles botched that too.

"Possibly" lol. The example in the VG Tech video didn't indicate a data streaming issue, as the frame rate dropped after the door had already been opened (i.e. assets ahead had already been streamed in), not before it.

And even if there are some instances of IO related stutters still present, I had said this as well:

And let's not even consider that it may be a low effort port like Metro Exodus, where the new IO related APIs weren't even touched 🤣
Respawn didn't even handle the port themselves. Low effort port is low effort 🤷‍♂️

I mean, even PS5 exclusive first party games are stuttering.
You mean the rare blip of stutter at some biome 1 doors in Returnal (wasn't seen in other biomes) or the one occasion you spotted in Ratchet when hitting the crystal? Sure 🤣

If you're bothered by something so infrequent, I wonder how you even play on PC. The platform presents multiple reasons for stuttering, with orders of magnitudes worse IO performance and shader compilation at runtime LMAO 🤣

Heck, JFO suffers from both forms of stutter on PC, and is easily the worst place to play the game among the current-gen consoles lol.

CerebralTiger: a bigger drop on Series S, therefore the character interacting with water is the only likely reason 🤷‍♂️
Necrokiller: lol slower cpu
PS5 cpu: sup? 🤣

I have a PS5 but I am not satisfied with the experience. I am currently saving for a 4080 64 GB rig soon. Bit will wait for Pro if performance improves. This gen has been so bad I don't plan on buying consoles anymore for AAA gaming.

Consoles were my main platform ever since Atari 2500. But now I think it's not worth it as PC especially with DLSS deliver far smoother performance. AW2 on console didn't even had ray tracing and ran below 30fps. Similar issues plagues DD2 on consoled.

Both PS and Xbox have been a flop this gen as they can barely maintain 30 fps in a lot of AAA games th.

As per WCCF Tech review, Xbox Series X doesn't even maintain a consistent FPS and sometimes drops into the mid-20fps range. That's unacceptable, tbh.

Score 1 for game pass. I wouldn't pay full price for this at retail either.

Just downloaded my first legit digital PC game on GoG at a discount of $8: Two Point Hospital. The same team behind Theme Hospital Two Point Studios now part of Sega. And I am having more fun than most recent AAA games except of course BG3.

PC Gamer score of 58/100 for Hellblade 2??? Is it really worse than Gollum that was 64/100? Microsoft games can't even come close to high scores of Sony exclusives apparently.

About the Microsoft (and Sony) debate, I feel both have become too greedy and losing their minds over corporate greed. Personally, I will never buy any console next gen and switch to PC gaming where democracy reins.
