Days ahead of E3 2018, Electronic Arts offered Star Wars fans a brief tease of the new game from Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment during its EA Play press conference. Respawn’s game is called Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order and will focus on a dark time in the Star Wars timeline when the Jedi are being hunted.

Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella confirmed the game’s name and its release window: holiday 2019.

Based on Zampella’s description, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order will be set between Episodes III and IV of the Star Wars film universe.

EA and Respawn announced their Star Wars action game in 2016, revealing that former God of War director Stig Asmussen was helming the third-person action-adventure project. The game was part of EA’s longterm exclusive arrangement with Disney and Lucasfilm to developer Star Wars games. EA acquired Respawn in 2017.

Our first look at Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is days away, with an official reveal planned for Star Wars Celebration. The Celebration panel will take place on April 13, but ahead of that big event the studio and EA have updated the official site with a new look at the game's logo.

As you might expect, the new logo puts a heavy emphasis on the word "Jedi," as the order of warrior-monks is one of the most enduring parts of Star Wars pop culture. One of the few details we know about Jedi Fallen Order is that you play as a Padawan--essentially a rookie Jedi--who survived the Emperor's purge in Revenge of the Sith.

The game is said to be set against a backdrop of a dark time for the galaxy, as the Emperor consolidates his power and any remaining Jedi are hunted down. We don't have a name or other identifying information about the protagonist, so it's difficult to say yet how this new story will tie into the main narrative of the saga.

Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment will unveil their new Star Wars action-adventure game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, at Star Wars Celebration this Saturday, April 13. The reveal will be livestreamed on EA’s Star Wars Twitch channel at 1:30 p.m. CDT, according to atweet from the official Star Wars Twitter account.
EA and Respawn started teasing Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order on Tuesday, tweeting out a piece of artwork that included what appears to be a visibly damaged lightsaber resting upon a stone surface. A pair of circular runes are carved into the rock beneath that lightsaber. That tease also includes a warning: “Don’t stand out.”

That phrase likely ties into the story of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order which follows a Jedi student, known as a Padawan, who survived the massacre known as Order 66. As seen inStar Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith, Order 66 decreed all Jedi traitors to the Galactic Republic and subjected them to execution by the Republic’s army of Clone Troopers. The Padawan at the center of Fallen Order will likely have to keep their identity secret in order to survive.

Nope No EA will find a way to fuck this one up to in this age EA agreed to release a game without microtransactions and loot boxes and no MP yeah tell that to mass effect,dragon age and everyother EA game releasing now.

^Bioware, too, had a lot to do with Andromeda being bad. It wasn't just EA. They've had a shitty track record, yes, but they can't be blamed for literally every bad thing.

They seemed to have to learned a bit from the Battlefront 2 backlash too. Neither Battlefield V nor Apex has any gameplay affecting microtransactions. Battlefront 2 itself has improved quite a lot with all the new content either being free or attainable with in-game credits. A lot of the issues with Anthem also existed because of issues within the Bioware studio and not because of pressure from EA.

^ Not to forget how great TITANFALL 2 was as well from the same developer under the same EA umbrella with no microtransactions and even more so without a season pass, meaning all content was free for everyone. Yes EA fucked up the launch window back then but that doesn't discount how great a game TF2 was.

GameInformer July Cover Revealed: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

In late May, a small group of Game Informer editors traveled to Respawn Entertainment’s Los Angeles studio to play Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The single-player (and microtransaction-free) adventure follows Jedi-in-training Cal Kestis, who is on the run after the Jedi have been wiped out by Order 66 during the events of Revenge of the Sith. We spent two days talking to the development team about the game’s design and inspirations, as well as the process of creating a new story within Lucasfilm’s universe.

Jedi: Fallen Order makes a hell of a first impression in a big, bombastic Star Wars way, but isn’t the game we were expecting it to be. We can’t go into gameplay specifics today, but we can say Respawn’s approach to lightsaber combat isn’t about combos and acrobatics. It focuses instead on… well… you’ll find out tomorrow. Two beloved gaming franchises were repeatedly mentioned during our trip as inspiration points for Jedi: Fallen Order, and together they create the framework of an experience that sings in a unique way.
