i play almost all games on hard but god of war is like a kick in the nuts, its much much harder than horizon, tlou ,uncharted even darksouls, and i love it.

i got a hint although when i started and by the videos i saw before the launch no other weapon than the axe but damn that part where he has to return to his PAST UFFF such epicness....brought back ps2 era times

There's an insane amount of depth crammed into the combat system, and it's much more evident at higher difficulties. Was having some camera-related issues with crowd control initially, but the moment I disabled 'recenter camera on attack' and 'strafe assist', it works exactly the way I want it to. Turning up the camera rotation speed also works really well for making quick 90 degree turns.

@CerebralTiger : I completed the game on "give me god of war" mode in my sleep, what are you talking about, I just took a little nap of 15 mins and the game ended /s

That's nothing, I finished it on "give me god of war" difficulty blindfolded with one hand tied behind my back. And I'll prove it by showing that a few people did it in 3+ days

Joke posters aside, some of the optional bosses present a bigger challenge even on the easiest difficulty than the main quest bosses on "give me god of war" difficulty.

I havent yet completed the main quest but i have feeling that there's a fair amount of quality content after the main quest.

Found a talisman that lets me do this:

I defintely have that talisman (upgraded to max) that slows down time at a perfect evade. I think the the next strike is a heavy runic attack that is a treat to watch btw.

Did you play at Give me god of war ? 100 percent spot on, the combat system in this game is phenomenal with tons of vartiations. Havent tried fiddling with the camera options you stated, will try turning them off.

Are you talking about Valkyries ? Defeated my first Valkyrie last night and boy that was nerve racking.

Holy shit, I did not see Atreus = Loki twist coming at all. Through out the game I kept wondering where Loki is and why none of the documents etc mention Loki while Odin and Thor are mentioned everywhere.

Also, the final mural that only Kratos sees in the land of the giants is supposedly showing Loki giving birth to or creating the World Serpant while holding Kratos's dead body in his hands.

Thanks, will check that out. I have 2 more Valkyries to mop up and then I think I'll have finished all the side quests. Not sure if I'm gonna take the time to hunt all the odin birds and collectibles etc because I have to play Yakuza 6 too before Detroit comes out lol (Not to mention Far Cry 5).

Yeah, it feels really rewarding when you do a perfect evade and trigger witch time. A little odd that it isn't a part of Kratos' core skill set, but nevertheless really glad to see it in the game. It's by far my favorite ability in character action games such as Bayonetta and Transformers: Devastation.

Coupled with this and the rune that increases your evade distance and speed (and probably i-frames), Kratos becomes untouchable...that is, until you face the Valkyrie lol.

I finished the main story on 'give me a challenge', then dropped it down to 'give me a balanced experience' for the Valkyries. Would've played on 'give me god of war', but it doesn't let you change difficulty, unfortunately.

Regarding the camera options, the one you mainly want to experiment with is 'recenter camera on attack'. The strafe assist setting may be useful, though I disabled it anyway. Hasn't been an issue so far.

Yeah, it seems like they're pretty much there to appeal to fans of the Souls games. You need to trial and error through their attack patterns , and then they're easy to beat.

I'm currently facing the last one.
