Despite the lukewarm interest from the press, it looks like the game will at least be a commercial success.

Yeah, they went gold already. The fanbase is too big, and Sony pushing them so viciously is definitely paying dividend

Finally, somebody understands me. The whole zombie apocalypse boo!! Spooky scary!! setting is fuckin stale as hell in 2019. Last time it felt fresh was in 2009 with left4dead 2. It has been a decade with boring zombie games (dead island, dead rising, state of decay, dying light) generic as hell many other ones excluding TLOu because it's story and characters are somewhat is interesting.

Played resident evil 2 remastered recently and holy fuck that shit blows terrible rng shooting coupled with tedious puzzles and wasn't scary in the slightest bit. Maybe it was great in 90s but it does NOT hold up. But since it was a faithful remarster with good polish and optimisation plus the nostalgia factor, it received favorable reviews.

Dead Space 1, doom 3 and left 4 dead 2 holds the gold standard for these games if you ask me. They also aged pretty well too.

I'm surprised you aren't waiting on reviews for this one. I have store credit ready on my PSN account, but won't buy it if it scores below 80 on Metacritic

It's a Sony first party game, those have generally been more good than bad. So far, the worst complaint I've read about the game is that it's a game without a unique identity for itself .. which is not a detractor for me provided what the game *has* is polished at least.

If nothing, I can always sell it back to estarland for like $50 in credit after a few days like I did with RDR2

Makes sense why Gamestop started their "Guaranteed to love" program with this. Might be worth looking into. Though I reckon with PSN speeds and the size of the patches a full day will be wasted just on getting it into playable state lol

I was considering trying out Gamestop's "Guaranteed to love" program but with this game it doesn't seem worth the hassle due to the huge day 1 patches. Might not have enough time to "demo" it.
